Adventure in Tiny Town - Save our Coaster
Adventure in Tiny Town by jwwPhotos
Tiny Town is in trouble and needs your help! The town is depending on you to get their roller coaster operational. Explore the countryside in hopes of getting a ride on the coaster before bedtime.
This is a level that I published back in March before I was a member here. First off, I have to say I was inspired by theWiggler and pinkzep for coasters in general as well as natecube for his Safari Coaster as I loved the scenery in that one. My thanks and best regards to them all!! My twist on it was that I thought it would be fun to be able to play around on the scenery and then take a ride on the coaster. The coaster is pretty fast and has a surprise cute ending that makes the little kid in me smile.
This isn't a hard level by any means.. pretty easy for sack skills of all ages.
Basically it is a fun scenic level with a bit of easy platforming tossed in to break up the normal R1 coaster ride once you have it back online. You have to get to the power station to turn on the power and then across the countryside to enable the 4 relays. Once that is complete, you are ready to finally ride the coaster. Closed circuit tv helps guide you through the level. ...and yes, I use the MM cuddly bear, but it hopefully makes sense why once you reach the end. ;)
Basically I wanted to share this as I think it is pretty darn cute. Great for kids of any age.
Words of warning. The switches MUST be activated in the down position before you leave them or the coaster will not be online once you return. I was pretty silly by not making it a bit more fool proof. Also in the power station, refrain from turning the switch back off as the elevator to get you out can break.
I have since tried to fix it, but am at the edge of the dreaded 160 hour limit as I left it in play during most of the creation. Learned that issue the hard way!!! So yup.. there are a few minor issues that I would love to be able to correct, but I might have to start over to correct them.

adventure in tiny town notes
:)In spite of popular opinion, I really like the affectionate little monsters it's nice that you arn't forced into killing them. I'm happy to let them follow me around. Also, I think it underlines the nature of a day-dream while playing with toys.
:)Smart use of magic mouth at the 1st gen switch where you are getting points while reading the prompt. Actually, all through the level you used prompts really well and had good placement of your check-points. alot of creators don't seem to consider the effect of those things; putting a check point directly infront of a jump where it messes with timing as it activates or putting prompts where they steal focus at critical times.
;)The helicopter...when I played it through the first time, I had another player with me, and we started thinking it was a lag-hindered switch when the heli went away and didn't come back for a while. A quick, thermo-economic solution might be to add text to the magic mouth before it. somthing like "The tiny town shuttle service heli doesn't like to stop, so jump for it", or, for non english readers a little plaque (excuse the super crude emote)

:( The bus: I agree that the bus is a bit slow. it's faster to just walk down the hill, although every time I played, I allways drove the bus because, well, who secretly doesn't want to drive the bus?
all these things are super minor. all in all, I really like this level and those who were with me for my first go around enjoyed them-selves.
