It's easy to fight while holding a beer without even spilling a drop! On the other hand, it's easy to fight while wearing a kilt (if you simply raise said kilt, it will usually shock most assailants into submission!).

It's true that the Scots were wearing skirts and makeup while fighting the Romans, but the Romans were wearing dresses. Everyone was crossdressing so that must have leveled the playing field somewhat :p
