Playstation Positives!

Hi everyone!
My best friend wants an XBox 360 for Christmas, purely for the reason that more people in our class have them and to use his words he "prefers the controller..." <<< Serious reason folks.

Anywho, I'd like him to get a PS3 so that we can play together online and talk about the games, so I need true positive facts about the PS3 to convince him (not too biased). If possible, XBox owners, could you give me some negatives about the XBox, (again not too biased towards the PS3). There is someone else in our group of friends with an XBox, so they are countering my arguements, so I really need help with this guys. If anyone else was/is in this situation maybe they could give me some advice.

But I still need more things!

PS3 Positives
- Freeee online play.
- It has amazing games like R&C, UC2, GoW3 and LBP!
- The X360 is nearing the end of it's life, the PS3 has a good 10 years left!
- Motion controller coming out next year.
- It...does....EVERYTHING

X360 negatives
- There is a 70% chance you'll get the red ring of death.
- Not very many good exclusive games.


Just show your friend trailers of the games I mentioned, that'll win him round.

well i have 3 words Ratchet and Clank
and another 3 words Little Big Planet
with xbox you only have shooty shooty games which are in my opinion all the same i.e. run around, blow up a guy, run a bit more boom headshot.
with ps3 you get so much more, littlebigplanet for example is a game that no other console has yet to bring successfully to any other console.
Ratchet and Clank, yes it is a shooter, but it has an array of weapons unlike most games, i mean how many games have you played that contain the groovitron, mr zurkon, or the sheepinator, or contain characters that we all love like Cpt Quark and Skrunch the monkey (i love that little guy), even the bad guys you love e.g. Dr Nefarious and Lawrence

Also, I jsut texted him and he said that Shoot-em-ups were 'ok'. Wrong console buddy...

OK heres my argument. The XBOX 360 will have a new iteration out in 2 years time minimum meaning that your friend would be forced to upgrade again or be behind the times. Secondly the next XBOX is supposedly going to have a blu-ray player in it meaning that the next console will be more expensive than a PS3. Add on to that the cost of an XBOX live subscription and its a lot of money.

now for playstation possitives, less likely to break down. Free online. Uncharted LBP demons soul. 10 year lifespan. Real money on the store not crappy MS points. When PS3 gets an exlusive it is 10X better than any xbox exlusive. You get people like me on PSN who is charming and funny.

Also tell him that if he doesn't get one you will play Ro Sham Bo with him every day, And you will go first LOL XD

The only argument that should count is games. If there are more games that he would enjoy on Xbox he should buy that, if there are more games that interest him on PS3 he should buy that.

Also, basically everything Xbox does is ripping off PS, and failing miserably.

Well, I do have both consoles, plus a Wii as well. The 360 was released first, and it was alright while it was alone. Now that I have both, well, I don't think I have turned on the 360 in... maybe 2 years now. It's just not worth the time.

A few advantages of the PS3...

• Better games. They have more games that appeal to my tastes. Some games that people haven't mentioned that are PS3 exclusives but not so famous include Valkyria Chronicles (an amazing plot driven artistic strategy game), Resistance 2 with it's excellent online co-op campaign (I haven't seen anything like it replicated outside of perhaps Borderlands), Heavenly Sword (an older dramatic action RPG with some amazing movies and plot) and Folklore (a real time RPG which is quite unique in it's style and direction). There are some great 360 only titles out there, but you are only asking for PS3 stuff. :P
  
• The fan noise for the PS3 is a tonne quieter than the 360. It really is so loud I have to turn up the volume just to hear the game. It's horrible on my current 360, often sounding like it is physically breaking up the DVD. :eek:
  
• I've already have one 360 on me die, and that's after looking after it well. What sort of a modern electronic manufacture creates something with such a short shelf life? My Megadrive (US calls is Genesis) is still working fine, and it's 15-20 years old now. My launch release PS3 is going strong, but I'm sure if I was still using the 360 regularily, I'd be up to at least number 3. Why bother with something so faulty? :rolleyes:
  
• If you don't have a LAN cable running to your lounge room (or the room you want to set up the console) then you need to pay over $100AUS for a wireless adapter. On the PS3 (and the Wii) it's built in to the base specs.
  
  
• The batteries on the 360 controllers are terrible, and drain themselves even when not in use. If you put a 360 and PS3 controller on the shelf, fully charged, and don't use them for a month (let's say you have them for multiplayer sessions) then the 360 will be flat, while the PS3 will have nearly a full charge. It's a pain having to recharge all the batteries in preparation for guests. :(
  
• As others have said, network usage for the PS3 is free. It's not a massive cost for the 360, but it's still a pain having to pay it and renew it each year. It's the only console that does so. The argument is better network connections, but I never have any major connection issues when I use my PS3.
  
• There is no Blu-ray player in the 360. They use to sell HD-DVD drives as a USB attachment for the 360, but those discs are now defunct. If you don't have a Blu-ray player, and you have a screen that can handle HD, then you get a high quality Blu-ray player which just so happens to be a high quality console as well. It also means there are far less multi-disc PS3 games out there. A small sub-gripe, but still a valid one.
  
• I don't know if things have changed, but when I last used a 360, it did not have an independent internet browser in it. It's a small point as well, but it can be handy to check if network connections are playing up or if you want to show a web page on a TV.

Those are some of the main points off the top of my head. I've been using the PS3 heavily for many years now, and to a lesser extent the Wii as well. The 360 is quite happy gathering dust in my house. :rolleyes:

I prefer the controllers on the PS3 :D
