I can understand why, the offensive word is there plain as anything... ONCE IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO YOUR ATTENTION!! But how many people would even spot that it contains such a term unless it's dragged kicking and screaming to your attention?
So now, my movie with th espoken line, "you need to do the exercises set out by the p h y s i o t h e r a p i s t" is censored on the subtitles, immediately bringing anyone's attention to it (and also distracting from the film as the viewers attention is now distracted by trying to figure out what the possible reason for censoring is.
In short, this policy draws attention TO swearing/offesivenes rather than hiding it.
