Project Diem (Natural Day & Night Cycle)
So I'm working on a level that utilizes a very natural flowing day/night cycle that is entirely independent from the player and his/her actions. I've never played a level with such a cycle before, but I'm sure it's most likely been done, but I'm trying to make it as natural and immersive as possible. It includes enemies and other logic that happen only during particular times of the day.
My story so far is that you play as a sackperson living and working in the woods in winter, and must go cut some trees down for firewood. You spend more time out doing your chores as night falls and get trapped out in the woods away from your home. You must then survive the wolves that are after you and hide out until daybreak and they go away. Only then must you make your way back home during daylight hours when the wolves are hiding. It's a very simple 'story' and stuff, but I'm working heavily on the whole day/night aspect of it and making the most of it.
