Icey, mrv and I played this last night and really enjoyed it and we also finished that insecty boss off, good and proper!
I know Icey and mrv had both not managed to finish off the boss on their own separate play throughs, but obviously, with me helping them, we soon saw him off lol :p
The gameplay and story are very enjoyable and the scenery and lighting look amazing, I especially liked the moons in the background.
Well done Joey on a great level :)
Edit : forgot to say, on our first run through the first sponge ball broke off and we had to restart. It's towards the end where a couple of balls hoist you up and then you have to grab and swing across a bit of ceiling, just so you know :)
I just played the level and here's what I thought.
Positives
------------
1. The boss battle was challenging and unique.
2. The scenery was awesome, from arriving on the colored planet to going in the planet's caverns.
3. I loved using the walky-talky to talk to your partner.
4. A solid amount of gameplay.
5. Awesome sound effects.
Negatives
--------------
1. The only negative was that I got sad because there's not a sequel and there should be.
Overall, this level deserves :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3. Great job everyone who worked on this project and I'll try mentioning this level later today or tomorrow.
Definately my "LBP Highlight of the Week" (if I actually have highlights. Naw, too busy playing shark survivals)
The Thing's skin material was lovely. It blended in so nicely to the other wonderfully stickered materials. The boss was a bit too long, though I must admit I was impressed by it's appearance (something about massive bosses with me...)
This definately should be a series. When you see the name you just think immediately that it could be. "The Lost Planets: Moon Zone?"
Hey man I played it again and it was still brilliant XD. I liked you theory that the lag makes it feel more like weak gravity so that made it easier to endure lol. Beautiful scenery and colours. The gameplay is really nice too. The only thing, I was playing there multiplayer and it broke on us. The part where you grab some bolted sponges that raise upwards. I know it's after the roped platforms, maybe straight after, not sure. We fell from above(where you have to grab the ceiling and shimmy across) and well, holding grab was our instinct for that area. We both grabbed the bottom sponge while falling and it snapped off. Not sure if you can fix that without cutting away at the rock behind, unless you can bolt thick to thick and then put a thin in the middle to cover it up. The thing the sponge is bolted to must not be strong enough at the minute. Some thick stone or metal hidden behind a thin would work I think if it is possible. If not try gluing thin gas to thick rock and see if you can bolt sponge to that thin gas and pass through another thin in between the sponge and rock if that makes sense lol
:star::star::star::star::star: + <3
:)
Noticed, I think MrsV suggested the same level breaking spot. Hopefully my suggestion gave you an idea on how to go about fixing it.
There will be a sequel? That's great news because the first was a blast so I can't wait to see what you do with the second. Good luck making it :p
Hiya-
I'm glad that I chose to play this, because it's an awesome level! The visuals were fantastic, I loved all of the lighting, alien plantlife, and the low gravity was a very nice touch (:p). It was also really cool how you manged to use the new Marvel material in the level for the rocky areas, I think this is the first level that I've played yet that uses that material in a good way. The gameplay was a lot of fun, the sponge-circle things on two strings was one of my favorite classic gameplay elements. Overall, I enjoyed this a lot. Great job Joey! :)
I rated it :star::star::star::star::star:.
I just played this with Chuck. I didn't know he'd already played it! That's why he beat me <_<
Anyway, great level. Loved the visuals, gameplay, and the boss. The blue water lining the bottom of the level was a great touch. No complaints other than getting spawn-killed by the boss a few times. But if I hadn't died, I wouldn't have gotten trapped! :D
Amazing job!
:star::star::star::star::star: and <3
Great work on this. Nice visuals and it's definitely something i have never seen on LBP. Good job!
The final product was awesome Joey. I loved it, even though I saw it all the time while you worked on it. 5 stars and hearted :D
Incredible looking alien world! Very polished gameplay also and epic boss. Too bad about that anti-gravity problem though, the level would've been so much more enjoyable at full frame rate. 5/5!
Great level Joey, I enjoyed it a lot.
I enjoyed the platforming, the visuals but not the boss.
The boss fight was too long and the it'is a bit cheap and forces the player to a lot of inactivity.
The spit was unavoidable, you can only stay at one side, the claws are a bit too quick, and the heart exposes for a silly second most of the time since the brains respawn too soon.
Then when you respawn from cp, if the monster is puking towards the left and you go to the right of the screen while falling, the sackboy switches layer and falls.
Generally is a good looking cool boss, but I think you (like Luos in his Switch Tribe) over did them, and the risk is to annoy the player.
A boss must be challenging but not cheap.
A hard challenge for 2 minutes is cool, a hard challenge for 10 minutes can become boring.
Anyway, the level as I said is great, and there are some sections that have very cool lighting effects, so 5 stars anyway, even if the boss should have made me rate the level lower.
Great level Joey. The scenery looks fantastic and the gameplay is good too. The boss battle takes way too long but it was an interesting one and that insect for some reason reminded me of "Jet Force Gemini". The background is really cool too. This is indeed a splendid level. 5 stars and a heart.
Hey Joey, played this level a couple of weeks ago and completely forgot to leave my feedback, so here it is! :)
Gameplay
I loved this style of gameplay. It was a platformer, mixed with elements of action and it was fantastic. I love how Joey always manages to bring us back to the simple platformer (for which LBP1 was intended) in the midst of all these new RPGs and shooters etc. The gameplay was 'typical Joey'. And by that I mean it was fun, but both difficult at times and simple all at once.
The obstacles were creative and orginal and very enjoyable. The boss was also challenging and orginal. However the overall experience of the level was, yes, hindered by a little lag. :/
Visuals
I love your style. It is colourful and cartoony, but still has a sense of realism (despite the theme of the level ;) ). I really liked how you created the different plants and creatures that inhabit the planet, they all looked very alien, but still reatined their 'Joey style'
Rating
I really enjoyed this level, and it's only fault were the lag problems, which you can't do much about. Therefore I gave the level :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3 :gopher:
Well done on the spotlight.
Very well deserved! :)
