I was playing with a few options and I don't like any of them. Changing the string that a smilie is attached to is not recursive - if you change it from ":boo:" to ":o", any post containing ":boo:" will simply display ":boo:". Not an elegant solution, seeing as the text string is just there as a hook for the smilie image and as a reference when you're looking at the text in a way that doesn't support images. If we add another smilie to the list of current smilies, you will see that duplicate smilie in the list as if it were a separate entity, even though it's the same image. That's messy - not something I'd want to do. If we use what's called the Replacement Variable Manager, it would replace all instances of ":boo:" anywhere on the site, regardless of where it may be. That means that if that "anywhere" doesn't support the display of images, you get a rather messy string of HTML instead of the ":o" text we'd prefer it to display. Also messy.
I can't think of any other way to do it, to be honest. Sorry guys, I don't think this was meant to be.
can we get someone to make a new smiley that is a sackboy with his mouth open, but a completly new one, and you can add that as :o

This doesn't bother me, I use smilies a lot and I'm used to type :boo:
