According to our tipster Topsu, the cause for the delay may be due to a a song in the game's soundtrack, which quotes the Quran. Use of religious text in the game may be considered insensitive to some. We're currently investigating this story, and we'll update when we find out more."

It's just data feed being wrong is what I've heard. I swear though, if this gets delayed by another 3 weeks, Sony are gonna have such a bad earful, something they've never heard the likes of.

I probably won't buy it if it takes another 3 weeks. Not being funny, but I have mocks, revision, wayy too much to play some game that Sony (yet again) turned into another bloody corporate pet.

Better not be. Nearly all our releases are already after the US ones by several days to a week. Three weeks... :(

Curious, would this recall affect all of Europe? In other words, will the UK be affected as well? I only ask because I was under the impression the PSN Stores were split up between the UK and then the rest of Europe. Is this the case?

While playing your latest game, "LittleBigPlanet" in the first level of the third world in the game (titled "Swinging Safari", I have noticed something strange in the lyrics of the music track of the level. When I listened carefully, I was surprised to hear some very familiar Arabic words from the Quran. You can listen to part of the track here:

The words are:

1- In the 18th second: "كل نفس ذائقة الموت" ("kollo nafsin tha'iqatol mawt", literally: 'Every soul shall have the taste of death').

2- Almost immediately after, in the 27th second: "كل من عليها فان" ("kollo man alaiha fan", literally: 'All that is on earth will perish').


I asked many of my friends online and offline and they heard the exact same thing that I heard easily when I played that part of the track. Certain Arabic hardcore gaming forums are already discussing this, so we decided to take action by emailing you before this spreads to mainstream attention.

We Muslims consider the mixing of music and words from our Holy Quran deeply offending. We hope you would remove that track from the game immediately via an online patch, and make sure that all future shipments of the game disk do not contain it.

We would also like to mention that this isn't the first time something like this happened in videogames. Nintendo's 1998 hit "Zelda: Ocarina of Time" contained a musical track with islamic phrases, but it was removed in later shipments of the game after Nintendo was contacted by Muslim organizations. Last year, Capcom's "Zack & Wiki" and Activision's "Call of Duty 4" also contained objectionable material offensive to Muslims that was spotted before the release of the final games, and both companies thankfully removed the content.

We hope you act immediately to avoid any confusion and unnecessary controversy, and we thank you for making such an amazing game.

There is now an update to that story:

"Update: The game is officially delayed until November 14th, and any copies that are already at retail are most likely being called back. A post on the PlayStation forums discusses the questioned song in detail."

Sucks is definitely not the word I would use. But I'm sure there are filters around, so I'll just second that.

I checked on amazon.ca, and either the delay and recall will not affect Canada, or amazon has not yet been notified.

Still, I can't believe that a game such as this one would be delayed (at what cost, I ask?) because of something that should be changeable by way of a downloadable patch, if there is something to change anyway.

Trying to find out if this affects AU & NZ as I believe we are considered EU for release regions now.

Oh well I guess I'll get it over night from PlayAsia or Amazon if this is the case.

and Sony generally are alright, just SCEE fail immensely.

This had better not be true.

SCEE are the worst run company I've ever seen.

If I didn't love my Playstation as an item, I'd sell it this instant cause I'm fed up of all the crap we put up with from SCEE.

I'm gonna move to the US just so I can get good service for my PS3.
