Pollen Maiden (Touhou-styled) mini-game

Pollen Maiden (Touhou-styled) mini-game by MGO_Count
A touhou-style mini-game where you have to dodge intensely tight cornered projectiles. Concept is original and a successor of my old "Plasma Maiden" level!

Check out the level, you can search it just by inputting "Pollen Maiden"
This level took around 4 days to make. With 30+ hours, so I really dedicated a lot of free time on this. <3

Notes:

08/15/10
-Red VR thing will never squish you again (unless you do it on purpose)
-Moved pillar to the left to see scoreboard
-Made the game a bit easier by increasing the emitting seconds of the yellow pollen-

Its fun! thought the decor was pretty good, and the challenge was fun too! And I thought the options section was a nice touch.

I gave it five stars (partly to give it a good headstart on littlebigplanet) but I would have given it at least 4 anyway.

Great level, very fun and good detail. If you're looking for a good survival challenge this is the one to go to.

I don't have any published levels as of yet. (I'm pretty new to LBP) I plan to have one published in a little while

While trying to restart (going down the long tube) I somehow got squished... that annoyed me a little since it ate one of my lives up.

I love the idea. I had to try it a few times, since I really wasn't sure what I was doing or that I had to avoid ALL the lights, not just the yellow ones, at first. I guess that's what that legend was at the beginning of the level, huh? :P The purple ones are beasts to avoid.

It looks great, and I love the forest feel of it! The options mode is a great idea, though I think the elevator could use some work. Also (and this is a small thing), maybe move your start checkpoint forward a level, that way the player doesn't try to run right and left before going "Oh wait... I need to move forward a level." Or maybe that's just me being "special." :P

Anyway, good work... a minigame I actually kinda like. :star::star::star::star:

Aww; I can never get a level to get 5 stars no matter how hard I try.. I guess the only ones that gets perfect stars are those adventure type levels :|. What an epiphany. D:

I understand ya there on the five stars thing. Even my adventure levels don't get that much usually. :P But a four-star minigame is quite a feat, so be proud of yourself! :)

Not a fluke; it happens. I just have to fix it xD. Stupid pistons. Even 10 strength wouldn't work lol. I'll probably make a little slider so people can drop to the right more.

I really loved the whole atmosphere of this mini-game! It took me a little bit to figure out what I was doing, it's a bit confusing at first! The options are a very nice touch.

+ Lighting!
+ Options always good.
- Can be hard telling the difference between bubbles and pollen.
- Red VR squashed me on several occasions. I would cut this as it doesn't add anything to gameplay.
- Blue plasma got me in the safe zone (below red VR)
- Camera/pillar obscures scoreboard rank #. Couldn't tell if I got 4th, 14th, 24th, etc
- Forced MM cameras on replays can be annoying.

I hope that was everything. :)
Pretty cool level.
Biggest problem was trying to ignore the point bubbles and pay attention to the lights/pollen. I would have preferred an auto point scoring machine out of view. But I don't play a lot of survivals, and the kids do like those point bubbles. So depends on the audience you want to attract.

Lol you died by the red VR? that never happened to me xD or when my brother was testing it. Unless you were playing in co-op

@The blue plasma thing; wow you are one unlucky person xD Chances of that happening is slim xD. Unless you were spawning.

I was impatient to keep playing, dropped down onto the red VR which then squashed me.

I think you just emit a block with a brain on the bottom over and over.
Blue plasma can only get you on the safe zone if your holding left :|. Are you sure it was a plasma and not a pollen?
Was definitely large blue plasma, it got through the little gap, perhaps I was holding left.

But those are the problems I can't really avoid. I'll see about the pillar.
