Mariiiiioooooo all the way, because it made my life complete when i was younger :3
Crash Team Racing.
Don't forget Crash Team Racing/Nitro Kart!
Modnation has the whole customizable side...
Mario has the title of trusted favourite, and great powerups/tracks
Crash has excellent characters, and the whole wall driving stuff in Nitro Kart!
I was in the MNR beta but it got kind of...crap...never got the game.
I've play MK Wii with the steering wheel and everything but it's not something I could play a lot
As the others said there's no way you can leave out CTR & CNK, Crash was my childhood :p
Generally, Mario Kart is the better game in almost every way bar creativity. The premade courses are far more memorable, way better music, characters, different variety of karts, bikes if you count MKWii, better power-ups, battle modes, more game setup options and I think more fun as a whole.
Bah, but that's just my opinion.
Mario Kart.
Doesn't have region lock.
Mario Kart hands down,no contest for me. It's got a broader appeal IMO, and the graphics feel more cartoony which I prefer. There's a lack of creativity, but you can play as your Mii's and the control system is clever and unique compared to MNR.
Just my own opinion, but II'd have mario kart anyday
CTR for weapons.
MNR for EVERYTHING else. (except region lock :P)
Mario Kart because I have it.
:boo:
mario kart. it's just better.
I like how you turned two of the happiest looking games on the face of the planet and turned them into a "hardcore debate".
Well, if I use MKWii as the stardard for the MK series, and compare it to MNR, I'd have to say MNR wins.
Actually having voice chat, and none of this silly friend code-nonsense decides it, for me. Kart racers are most enjoyable with friends, moreso, online, and MKwii just sort of... Although it worked, and it was fun, I feel it suffered thanks to Nintendos oh-we-has--to-protect-the-kiddies-from-the-interwebs attitude.
That, and MKWii had balance issues - if one more nub picks Funky Kong & The Bowser Bike I'm gonna punch a kitty.
MNR just needs some variety in it's game modes via DLC, and MK gets left in the dust.
(Fingers crossed for team racing. Teamwork always makes games more fun. x3 )
Mario is A TON better, modnation racing isn't classic
Mario Kart DS is above all...
Well, I don't have MNR yet, but, I'll see then. I liked the MNR beta.
MKWii is just... I hate bikes, I hate jumps, (They lead you into the air, and you end up crashing into a wall...) I don't really care for the tracks that much.
MKDS had amazing tracks, and emblems that you could DRAW. Not Miis. :p
Mario Kart is just terrible online, since...
A.) No chat. Whatsoever.
B.) Hax.
C.) Friend codes.
Although I don't really know much about MNR past the beta, it might match up to MKDS, in my opinion.
I'd have to say Mario Kart is a better game, even if I'm playing MNR currently, and not MK. MNR tried to go with a cartoony feel, but then they ruined it with the levels, it's all far too realistic, and things are far too easily jumbled. There are times where I don't even know what's going on.
Also, they say they fixed the whole "No getting nuked by blue shells in first" thing, but really, they just made it worse. Now you get nuked by blue shells in every position. And sure, there's shield, but shield runs out far to quickly, that you need to have PERFECT timing for it to resemble any form of use. Also, having it run off of the same bar as boost just means that no one uses boost. Yay, cause that's fun!
Really, MNR seems to have focused far too much on customizing karts and mods, (Which I do enjoy, very much), a bit too much, and not enough on the actual racing aspect. I have nothing to say about the track editor because It's a bit too steep for me to get a grasp on, so I haven't done anything with it yet.
Mario Kart though, is just Mario Kart. It MADE the Kart genre. It has the perfect balance of powerups, with all of their different uses. You can make it back up from last place, and you have to fight to stay in 1st.
MNR, one mistake and you lose.
Edit: Also, this really just ticks me off. (Expletives are warrented, but I won't use them for the ruler's sake. In other words, this get's me REALLY REALLY ANGRY, like, THROWING THINGS angry, just thinking about it)
In MK, different characters have different stats, so when I play as Dry Bones on the Minibeast, I can drift through entire courses, perfectly manoeuvring my kart to the finish line. Of course, I have to drift, otherwise I'm killed with my lack of Handling, and if Bowser gets near me, I cower in terror as he easily out-weighs me. This is all known, and accounted for, so I can get better the more I play as that combo.
In MNR, you get two stats. Two. Drift/Handle, and Speed/Accel. You trade one off for the other. What if I want amazing speed and Accel, but no drift or handle? What then?!
Also, the game "Reads" how you're playing, and then IT CHANGES YOUR SET UP, without telling you. How am I supposed to adjust, if it undoes everything I do? How is that helpful?! It's not! It just makes it harder to learn!
IT IS COUNTER-INTUITIVE. THE OPPOSITE OF A GOOD IDEA.
Forza 3. Or GT5 when it finally appears. Or F1 2010 in September...
Calm down. There's nothing wrong with Crash Team Racing. That game was my childhood back then.
Anyway, Mario Kart (and I do mean all of the Mario Kart games). Modnation is fun but it lacks the try-hard situations you get in after some sly dog bombards you with Shells of Blue Death. Plus, it's fun to play as your favorite Mario characters.
Blue shells. Need I say more? No, I don't. And neither do any of you.
