Scott Kelby is basically "Mr Photoshop". He also started NAPP, the National Association of Photoshop Professionals and creates tons and tons of tutorials, books and stuff for Photoshop as well as Lightroom. Most welcome! I knew quite a bit of what he had in that book, but I still found it enlightening in other respects on shots I had not attempted nor even thought about. I like this type of book because he is for one a really good writer, very calm and not too wordy. Plus his boils it down to what you need to know and why. Much more helpful than a 10 page discussion of depth of field, circle of confusion and how that translates to the f-stop. When you see it and what the results are, I think it makes more sense to folks.

lol.. well, discount does imply you are buying something after all. Just trying to be helpful and sorry you can't take advantage, but maybe down the road it might come in handy. ;)

The one area I have always struggled with is flash.

It's all very well putting a flash on top of the camera and letting the auto settings work it out, but they always come out naff - I havn't used a flash mounted camera for years.

My problem always comes with slave flashes and trying to work out the strength needed... somehow, I can never get it right.

Oh well - maybe I should buy a book or two lol.

I used to have a great bounce flash that was so effective, it lit up the entire background with no shadows at all. I'm not sure what happened to it. I can't attach external flashes to my camera. One day...
