How to: Make the THOCK Material

Hiya! well, this might have been found out already, but I haven't seen it in the forums at all so....

How to make thock sublayer materials! DUN DUN DUN!
Its been expected that there would be the last and finals sublayer that groups with Theck and Thack! There are tons of thread in the LBPC forums that show how to make the theck and thack materials (plus lots of levels that give them free) so, go get them if you don't have them already!

ok, so to make the thock layer you NEED a theck layer shape, but there are a couple things you need to know about it first
1. if you select it, it pops back into the theck or even thick layer
2. can only be moved by sackboy himself or an object that pushes it around

STEP 1: Get the Theck!
You can't corner edit, select, or even select piston, winches, etc that is connected to the thock, not even stuff its glued to.... SO do everything you need to do to it BEFORE making it thock, other than attaching stuff of course

STEP 2: Copy and paste (the correct way)
Basically this is the (mid)layer glitch. To do it select and copy the object, then press L1 or L2 + X... to that to a theck piece and you have THOCK!!!

Some cool things about thock!
-if you RUN onto the piece you walk on it, like a ledge or a tight cliff
-if you jump onto the piece you hover on it, you legs are spread out like your in mid air
-either hovering or walking on it it seems kinda slick
-sackboy does interact with it, meaning he can hit it and can walk through it like theck
-it is grabable! :D
-unfortunetly it can't be in the 3D layers, like the other sublayers

some of the best things this can be used for that i can think of (you guys will prolly think of twice as many or more!)
-ledge on a cliff that sackboy has to scale
-antigrav chamber
-* theck possibilities *
- cool designs in layer differences
-hard to see obstacles
-2D levels
-sackboy barriers and killers
~~~~~~~~~because sackboy interacts with it he also dies!~~~~~~~~~~

The guy has an unstable layer-popped piece of theck.. Unfortunately.

Me and Prattz have done extensive experimentation with this stuff before. It's not thock. :/

If it were true thock it would be selectable, and probably editable.

ya, but it takes up the thock layer, and a unstable uneditable and unselectable piece of theck is better than nothing..

It doesn't truly take up the thock layer. If it did indeed take up the thock layer, it would snap there and be selectable. #thatsjusthowLBPworks

Your theck is just on the wrong place, and a simple fact about layers on wrong places is, they only snap to another layer when selected. We don't know why.

The only sub-layers that actually exist are theck and thack. Kernel, Prattz (Klaww), and I were messing around one day (we are all ThecXmen) and playing with layer popping. We deduced, that if it isn't stable, it isn't a true sub-layer and isn't a sub-layer at all. They are most likely visual errors when you place something and switch layers quickly.

There are many other sub-layers like Than (Kernel named it after me (don't ask why) that have to do with collisions but they aren't 'real' sub-layers.

I think of it like math: Layers and stable sub-layers are like real numbers. Anything else are like imaginary numbers. (Again, don't ask why)

Thock exists; but we cannot make it. For whatever reason things don't like to layer-pop into the thock layer.

There is no defined reason why they shouldn't I mean, theck and thack shouldn't really exist either, but things layer-pop into them for whatever reason.

So.. yeah. I have some thock from the teacup, but its invisible, and dies on placing. The only way to get thock that is even slightly reasonable, is to find someone who has their original disk at patch 1.08.

And even then, we don't know.

I once lent my old non-goty disc to my friend... Back in 2008 methinks... I think it was on 1.07 or 1.08 at the time... I wonder if it's still installed. :p

But even if it was, I doubt he could create stable thock... I'm not even clear on the whole thock situation myself, as it gives my brain owies. :(

EDIT: Also, referring to the OP, I remember I made some of that with Fishrock before, and thecxmen can go through it, like theck, but forward. Which actually makes it kinda fun to fool around with. :D

in theory, if one was to have some teacup thock, you could use the select-don't-place;-then-place-material glitch thing.

(patched in.. Cornish yarg? [1.12])

i use this also sometimes. (checkpoints etc.) but it isnt the Thock :)

Sorry for being very late..but I have some real thock. It goes between the Theck and thin layers. BLAHHH. And it is selectable/editable. :D Grab switches are thock you know..

The glitch is fun to mess around with, but really there is no point to use it in your level...

How can you gratify grab switches as Thock when they do not exist on any layer?
