Frustbeta'd!! LBP2Beta Free DLC Now Missing... I got POOCHED!

Okay, so I guess Mm handed us certain DLC for free with the beta. I'm not a fan of getting stuff free that others paid their hard earned cash for, but since we're not allowed to keep any creations and stuff from the beta I figured what the heck... I'll use it if they want me to (maybe there's a reason specific DLC is given as it's glitchy or something?) So about 4 or 5 days ago I decided to pull out an old unfinished level and tweak and upgrade it to LBP2 standards and turn out a level in a short time for a change. I really wanted to get something up before the beta ended so that folks could play it and tell me what they think.

Long story short, I used some of the "free DLC" we were given to make a character in the level yesterday (the shark costume from the More Animals Pack). When I tried laoding the level today, I got the "You can not edit this as it contains DLC from the More Animals Pack. You must purchase this content first. Swtiching you to play mode.... SUCKER!" message.

I can't access the store from the beta to re-download it... and I'm certianly not paying for it because the costumes are horrible mostly, and I just can't afford it right now. I am sooooooooo ticked off right now! The level is only a few hours from completion and now I can't finish it.

Anyone else notice any "free" DLC missing from their beta? I mean... why bother giving us access to stuff you want us to use if it's just going to go missing and totally screw up our beta testing? I don't know if it's a glitch or not... but I reported it.

I'm so frutstrated now that I don't even feel like creating anything else in the beta any more. Argh.. I guess I'm going to stick to learning the tools more and playing other peoples' levels. Creating anything worth publishing is no longer an interest for me anymore... I could care less until I get the full game now.

You realise they didn't mean to give you 'free' DLC. It's not exactly their fault if they then go and take it away from you.

Edit: Ok, I guess technically it is their fault, but what I'm saying is you shouldn't take advantage of a mistake they made because they're bound to want to correct it again.

You could Lock-publish it copyable, send the key to someone you trust that has the DLC, let him remove the Sackbot with the DLC, and return the level for ye to complete! :D

I'm fairly sure someone said you can still copy a locked copyable level. With or without the key.

In general (LBP1 & 2, or in BETA?
As far as I know, if its lock, you can't even select it.
(Yet again, I haven't seen locked levels in BETA yet.)

You can selected locked levels in LBP2 BETA, but not in LBP1.

If you want/able you can email me a backup of the level and I'll email you back a version with the offending sackbot removed.

theres nothing sadder than a sackbot shark. poor guy cant even swim.

Actually, no... I didn't realize it wasn't intended. I honeslty thought they were giving certain DLC in the beta specifically for us to use.... especially because this 2nd phaze was specifically given to people with DLC and I thought maybe they wanted to test certain stuff that may have had issues (but not these kinds of issues). I don't even know how they could remove it during the beta anyways... unless there was an update. I'm sure they are aware that free DLC has been given out since the initial beta in EU... so if this is the case then I would have thought they would have given us a warning that it may be removed and to avoid using it. To be honest... it doesn't make sense that it was given by accident because only certain DLC was given... not everything. That's why I assumed it was possibly something they threw in that we might go "Hey! New DLC... I guess I could use this during the beta."

That would be fantastic! I really would like to get this level done for the beta... even knowing it won't transfer over to the final game on it's release. I really appreciate the offer! I'll try to figure out how to set this up... do I just send you a key or something?

As for the offensive little shark-thing. You'll find him behind the bar in a fish tank shaped like a medical cross. He's in there jumping around and has goofy legs attached to him. I'm only doing this because I trust you and you are an fine upstanding citizen of LBPC. ;)

The only thing I would ask is that you don't copy any costumes in the level as some of them are very closely guarded and I take pride in them. I'm sure you are far ahead of me in logic (as I really suck at it) so I'm not worried about you taking my Jawa machine at the end (though I'm sure you'd have no reason to do so anyways). Ugh.. nevermind... I'm just babbling paranoid now. I'll add you to PSN now and see if I can send it over somehow.

He's suggesting that you use the level backup feature to export the level into a save file. Email him that file, he'll import it, fix it, export it, and email it back :)

Question: Would this possibly work if the Online Create *workaround* was implemented with someone who ownded the DLC? I could go into create mode with them and they could remove the DLC then I could save? Might be easier to do this way if it would work

But how would you acess the level if you don't have the DLC anyway? Don't you have to be the host in order to acess the level in your moon?

I was thinking if I sent them a key. Nevermind, I'm really tired right now and my brain hurts from trying to figure out the new logic tools. I can't stand the tutorials in all their vagueness. I can't even get basic stuff working right now. To be honest, I'm pretty frustrated all around in this beta. Normal betas are playing the game and looking. Having to learn new tools while trying to create as well as work with a buggy game is just getting me more and more ticked off. Think I'll just forget about it for a few days and do something else maybe. :(

I won't stick my nose in anything except for the sackbot. And think of it this way, we're testing level backups in the process. :D

Uh, well it appears I'm victim to the bug too... except it's not the purported "free DLC" you mentioned, but all DLC, including stuff that I have purchased.

Anyone else having this problem?

Edit: re-uploading my profile in hopes it may just "show up."

Edit 2: the DLC is there, I just can't access it.

Oh no! I hope this isn't a new bug that's going to rip through the beta community! Forgive my ignorance in these matters, but won't re-uploading your profile erase anything you've done in the beta up until this point?

EDIT: Just to be clear then, you are also unable to edit your levels now as well?

All of my progress in LBP2 was saved, but my DLC is showing up in the menu (costumes only, haven't checked materials, etc.) but is not accessible. My moon was cleared... I didn't have anything worthwhile there anyways. Yet.

Edit: OK, so it's not all DLC. I have confirmed the following DLC (which I have purchased and/or received with GOTY) will not work, including stickers and costumes:

MGS Kit
History Kit
Monsters Kit

... which leads me to believe this is just affecting any and all GOTY content you may have purchased and/or received with the GOTY edition.

Some of the Animals packs were included in GOTY, so yes... this is the same bug. Except I have purchased it, but it seems to be disabled regardless. Did you get MGS stuff with the beta too? If so, have you checked to see if you have access to it?

Edit: Affects the Monsters pack and the Animals pack on my end, by the way, both of which are GOTY DLC.

Nope... none of my other DLC is affected. I have the MGS, History, and Monsters packs and none of them are being affected. I did purchase them through the store on their initial release, so I'm guessing that's somehow a weird added factor to this enigma.

Have you reported it as a bug to the beta crew yet?
