Now that it's official that anything made in the beta will be lost in the final transition to retail, will you particularly miss what you've made in the beta? Granted there probably won't be any sort of exploit to bring them back to retail, but it's rather sad how so many mind-blowing levels, games, and doodads will be lost once the beta ends. IMO, if I were in the beta, I wouldn't do anything worthwhile, since I knew I would end up losing it anyway.
Luckily, the knowledge I gained from working on the logic will stay forever :) Even during the course of me filming "tutorials" I'm constantly discovering more efficient ways of doing things.
And honestly, it wouldn't take me long to recreate anything. The song I made that I liked "Cosmic tears / Lonely Galaxy" (Which was supposed to be used in something, not sure what happened to it) I'm going to tab out on the computer in midi so I don't lose it forever.
Rewriting your song in MIDI is a very good idea, that way you can at least keep the sequence you used as a reference.
surely people have these levels on their hard drives? can't you just re-publish them when the game releases?
That's not officially guaranteed to work, but that's what people are hoping for.

Sorry, about that mini rant.
I am not too bothered about losing my creations. I will still have offline access to them once the beta servers are down. So I can easily recreate the ones I want (Namely my Spyro sackbot) but with improvements to it's logic.
I'm actually hoping levels won't transfer simply because of the 'god-glitch' (now fixed) levels that still contain: The real pod, planets and story levels. If these got into the real game there could be some issues. (Though the custom pod glitch is cool).
As Jedi pointed out, this isn't a new revelation. We've all known from day one that we wouldn't be allowed to keep anything we make. It's for that reason alone that I went into the beta with a different state of mind than normal where creating is concerned. I used the beta to learn the new tool sets and their limitations, as well as the intent to break the heck out of this game and get me a Bug-Blaster costume (I really want that gas mask).
That being said, I was unable to control myself on several sessions and began creating more passionately on certain objects. I've built several vehicles in the beta that I'm particularely proud of, as well as a few songs. Thankfully, I have a camera... so I've been documenting my builds along the way so that I can re-produce them as accurately as possible once the full game hits. One ship in particular, looks as nice as it does because of the angles in the design.. so recreating this is going to have to be very precise if I want it to look as good.
I've played a lot of amazing levels in the beta. Stuff that I really wish those who didn't get into the beta could play for themselves. We had hopes that Mm might surprise us with the ability to keep our creations and import them to the full game, but we all know that the God glitch has likely made that an impossibility (though I do think it could still be done and any Mm content could simply be modded out).
In short, yes.... much of this stuff will be sorely missed.
We all knew going in that we couldn't keep our wonderful creations, but that doesn't mean we won't miss them. ;)
How they are issues? because they been created by evil god-glitch? They harmless product of glitch same as bubbles and flames that you should not have. Story level are not much harm eather until they stay in LBP2, bah in fact they are good learning material and fun remix can be produced from them (watch LBPodcast 95 and you can hear that MM like that idea).Quote:

I haven't done any serious creating in the beta 'cuz it's always been known that we wouldn't be able to keep stuff. The most serious thing I've created is the race level for my monocycle, which I'd already built in lbp1 and simply retrofit with lbp2 tools (the monocycle, not the level: the level was new for the beta but only took two or three days to build). I've been pretty surprised at some of the stuff people have made in the beta considering we knew we wouldn't be able to keep it. Gevurah's top down rpg is such an example (though it probably wasn't as much work for him to build as it looks like), and Luos' Lockpick's Maze level (seriously, play that freakin' level!) too. I would be heart-broken to lose a level like that if I had built it in the beta, but he seems to be pretty cool with it.
I dunno - I've definatly formed an attachment to my level. But, saying that, I already know I could do much better - at first, I was just trying to figure stuff out, and so the logic isn't as flawless as it could be, and it takes up a lot more thermo than it should. I'm actually looking forward to remaking it, and making it better - with videos for reference of course! I'm already remaking certain bits of my level now, in my moon - just so I know what to do when I have to start from scratch in the new game!
I've done one quicky pinball level for fun, but in a way I am glad it will be gone as I can do another one much better from the knowledge gained in the first one. Some of the ideas I was wanting to add to it, I would sorta have to rip it apart anyway. lol
For the most part, I have just been doing several proof of concepts and playing around with platforming ideas with all the new goodies. That way I don't feel like I lost so much if indeed it is truly gone. To be honest, I might be more sad about all the setwork we have done in the Beta that we don't get to keep. With each new caption contest set, or new creator spotlight it sorta adds to our self proclaimed "Hollywood back lot" so to speak. lol
If it is gone, I should still be able to launch the Beta to take a peek at a few things that I specifically want to replicate.
Ahhh yes.... Jww's Pinball. Great stuff - really am going to miss that. I used to have the highscore on that =)

I knew we were going to lose everything in this beta, but that doesn't stop me from playing the hell out of it. I spent far more time creating than I originally intended because creating in LBP2 is just so much more appealing than LBP1. It would have been nice to continue what I've started. I remember thinking how cool it was that beta stuff carried over back in LBP1, but the loss of that stuff is really no big deal compared to what we will lose in the LBP2 beta. I really hate to think that all that great music I've acquired will all be gone soon. The value in that alone is far greater than anything from the LBP1 beta.
On the bright side, I've found some cool new LBP buds and gained some experience that will make it easier to jump into LBP2 so not all is lost. :cool:

I don't understand you guys. Whats the point of holding back? I'm creating away like normal LBP1. Sure I won't keep my stuff, but i would of never made them in the first place if I was too scared.

I havent really put much time into creating anything, so im not really bothered. Most of my really good ideas would take too much time to just be deleted. Im just trying ideas that are fun and quick to make.
The hope is not lost yet. I think it would be still possible for MM to move all MM picks over as they have selected them.
