Here's me working as a 1st assistant camera on a steadicam shoot. I was SO happy to not have to don the steadicam rig. Most likely what I'm thinking in this photo is "I'm not wearing this right now, and I don't have to at any point in the near future."
Gotta dig the duct tape holding the battery in the camera.
What's bad about a steadicam?
*Brace for a Teebonesy-rant*
aha. Ok then, i will :P
Awesome, I'm looking forward to the day I get to work on a shoot with a Steadicam!! (although preferably not as camera operator!)
haha and I love the duct tape! Still, not as bad as the time we had to tape the EX3 to the dolly because the tripod head wouldn't screw on properly...

I still have nightmares about that!
Hah! One time I worked a production that was using a DVX100 as a camera...
and they rented a Fisher 10 dolly.
Yes, THE Fisher 10.

they didn't have nearly the proper adapters to fit the thing in. So it was strapped and buckled in like it was going skydiving.
fisher days are good days on camera team, because dolly grip does the heavy lifting and you get to sit down most of the day.
I'd go into more detail, but I'm HORRIBLY LATE so I have to run - but basically, steadicams are magical tools, but holy HELL to actually operate. Even if you can master the difficulty of operating one, it's still traumatic on the lower back, especially when you're working film set hours (12 hour day standard, often pushing to 18).Quote:

I have limited steadicam experience as an operator, and I am done with the things!

Haha, yeah, yeah, so true, so true, yeah, so true, so true.
What's with the sudden influx of camera men? :)
o hai gais, i r n0w a cam3r4 m4n!
lol
I think there's just something about LBP which makes camera men like me and Teebonesy drop everything and come running to this forum so we can discuss incomprehensible matters like Steadi-cams and gaffers. in the process confusing everyone around us with our jargon!
Or maybe Teebonesy and I are just the same person with two accounts who likes to talk to themself :p
Haha, that's preposterous! What a silly thing to say,TeebonesyCheesyMcFly!
Anyway, yes,TeebsCheesyMcFly and I have a great time blabbering about arcane things, it's like being in a secret club.
Yup. Good oldTeebonesyCheesyMcFly and me.
EDITS: I had to...login under the proper accountfix some... typos.
