Your DERP Moment(s)

Basically, tell us about the experiences you've had in LBP2 (in the story or create modes) that had you frustrated until you noticed a simple solution. In other words, DERP.

Two that I can think of off the top of my head:

-In Create mode, I spent a good 15 minutes rearranging logic because my top-down RC spaceship wasn't responding to my controls. I then noticed I had set the reciever to the wrong tag color.
-In the story mode level "Fireflies When You're Having Fun," I tried countless times to use my grappling hook to reach a high ledge with some prize bubbles on it (in that little area where the fireflies are traveling along a small track). After around my 100th try, I actually managed to gain enough momentum to reach the ledge! Later, I came back to the level to try and ace it, and found out that a sticker switch gave you a Creatinator that spawned bounce platforms.

HERP DERP.

I was making a controlinator pod and must of clicked the dark material when changing some materials. The piece I change to dark matter was behind the controlinator and I could not see it. My pod would not budge. I checked the logic like 100 times until finally pulling it all apart and finding the small piece of dark matter.

Yeah, whenever I start a level and it has a sticker thing in the beginning, I always just gave up trying to 100% items it D: I knew it was probably going to be for a tool or some kind

I was stuck on a story level for like. 20 minutes til I realized there was a still the "third" lane that led into a small shelter from falling stuff *Facepalm* I felt dumb.

I think I'm in the middle of one right now. I'm trying to round up all the prize bubble collectibles I can in story mode that don't require three/four players and the only one I'm missing is one single collectible in "Up and at Em'" in Eve's Asylum. It's the very first one that appears in the list and I've been redoing the level continuously taking every route and still haven't gotten it; so unless there's a glitch or something I'm almost certain it'll turn out to be something really obvious or something everyone else got without trying.

Try on the right side when you go in to the tunnel. I had a DERP moment on this one too, it's hard to see.

lol, exact same thing happened to me too.

So I was creating an invincibility powerup in my top down versus shooter level, and I used a NOT gate at first to make it work, but I thought that it didn't work, but I just didn't shoot the other thing enough, so I spent a whole hour trying others solutions until I realized it did work and I was just being impatient. DERP.

while trying to ace full metal rabbit i started daydreaming and ran off a ledge into fire

When I was in create, I made a faulty menu with bad controls.
I found out then about the selector. Derp.

Also, I couldn't get d-pad controls to work on the controllinator.
Disable popit controls. Derp.

i have had a bunch of derps with story levels and trying to complete them too fast making them a lot harder than they would be if i was patient.

I just had one of these moments before.

I was polishing up the middle part of my level so the sackbot enemies I was emitting in were actually going to work properly, so I hit "save as" in case i made a mistake. After I finished,tested it and was happy with the results a friend invited me to join their game, so I did. Later on, I returned to the level and decided the start of the level needed work/an improvement as I had more thermo room to play with (emitting things and destroying them saves thermo!). After I improved the start i decided to finally fix the little things that bugged me each time I hit play and forget when I hit return to create. I hit play to test it, and when I got up to the point with the sack bots, I found out they behaviored exactly the same as when I started fixing them after I hit 'save as'. I then realized that I had loaded up the wrong level and was working on a previous version before I fixed the sackbots D:<.

Lesson learnt, version numbers are good to use.

Back in beta playing with the logic tools I made a whole menu selection tool with both horizontal and vertical capabilities before I found out what the bottom input on the Selector does. Would have made things a lot simpler.

I made a bunch of A.I for a sackbot, then Silverleon joined me and I was going to a DCs on a holo to follow a sackbot, it didn't work.
Silver opens up his popit and laughs at me, it was light material instead of holo -_-

I tried to control Sackbots with a Controlinator by using advanced movers and stuff.
The next day, I found out that you can actually do that much easier, by simply placing two Controlinators and setting them to 'Receiver' and 'Transmitter' :gopher:
And I was already wondering how you guys controlled Sackbots properly! :p

Okay, I was wiring up a top down. I couldn't figure out why up down was working but left right wasn't. Yelled at the game for about 20 minutes before I figured out I had wired up L3, not left right.

I was working on the beginning part of VR Obstacle Course 7 (My first level on LBP 2, yay!) at the part after you jump down from the entrance. I was having trouble making a sequencer work properly, it would automatically start everytime I resumed in Create, I thought it was because my Tag Sensor had to be inverted. Didn't work, my sequencer kept playing everytime I resumed. I tried all sorts of things to try to make it work when it's supposed to, then I found out it was on the "Play Forward" testing setting, all I had to do was switch it to "On/Off".

I just realised yesterday Tags themselves can be turned on/off...

I spent 20 minutes trying to find out why my sackbot following controlinator didnt work. My friend pointed out that the tag and follower colors didnt match!!!!!!!
