Another Queensland Disaster (by the looks of it)

A number of you may remember the thread BabyDoll posted about the flooding in Queensland. Well it happens to be cyclone season at the moment.

We've already had one cyclone which did absolutely nothing, but, there's a second one which looks a bit more threatening. Last time I checked it was a category 3 and is intensifying. It also looks as if it's going to hit Townsville dead on, which hasn't happened for 39 years. Should be interesting to see how it turns out.

I'm not sure weather to be worried tbh, the only thing to worry about would be the house breaking, but houses here are built to strict standards specifically to withstand cyclones, so I doubt there's much to worry about.:)

Here it's like standing in a wooden shack while the hurricane is going on...oh wait, the houses here are wooden shacks...fu. :l

Well majority of houses. There's a number of quite old wooden houses around which, if we do get a category 4, might be losing some roofs.

While typing this I got the following message on my phone from the BOM I guess.

"TC (stand for tropical cyclone) Yasi is due to hit QLD coast wed night. Those in low lying coast areas should be concerned about storm surge and relocate on tuesday check with local council."

And I was going to work on Wednesday :(

A tropical storm is enough to destroy our houses lol

He should be fine since it's at the outer edge of the cyclone.

Thanks, everything should be fine, but I'm pretty sure it's a category 5 now, we're expected to get winds of 250km/hr.

Thanks, there's been a lot of disaster over the world this year it seems.


We're starting to get some pretty strong winds now. I'll probably be losing power very soon. An as of less than a minute ago my backyard is down one tree, pretty big tree too, about 6m high.

Thats good to hear, the cyclone went further south. Pretty happy atm, now that we finally have our power and water back on :D
