Dance RPG [Recruiting Members]
Quote:
Note: We’re in dire need of more composers, as I (AeroForce22) am the only one we have so far. We’re also looking for anyone who’s good with sackbot animations. Since this is a partial dance game, these two jobs are extremely important. Examples of your work must be provided in the application (or you can mention that you have it on your moon, unpublished, and we’ll check it out).
Dance RPG
Who’s ready to roleplay dance?
tl;dr Version
Basically we're taking RPG elements, and turning encounters/battles into a rhythm dance game. It will include tons of awesome features, including dance pad compatibility, and the premise of the story is collecting leaders of other dance crews to build your own to win some sort of competition. Now if you're hooked, feel free to read the actual thread. xD
Background To The Idea
The idea for an RPG based around dancing is quite random, is it not? Randomness can lead to some of the best ideas and that’s where this fantastic idea came from. While chatting on MSN about RockSauron and co’s upcoming RPG (Chains of Time), someone mentioned dancing for some reason, and thus, it was born. Dance RPG. Ready to kick butt in the RPG and rhythm genres at the same time? You better be!
Game Mechanics
Dance RPG takes the mechanics of a traditional RPG and merge it with that of a rhythm game, more specifically, Dance Dance Revolution. By merging these two genres, we have created what we will refer to as “Dance RPG” until we can come up with a unique, and probably pun filled, name. More specifics on the mechanics will come at a later date as we’re still trying to figure out everything we’re going to include in this one of a kind project. But for now, we’ll mention and explain some of the basic, essentially guaranteed ideas that we’ve thought through so far.
- Membership Card - The Membership Card is a special access card that you obtain after defeating the second of 10 groups. Each time you finish battling another set of 2 groups, the Membership Card will be upgraded to a higher level. The card maxes out at level 5, due to simple math, and the names of these access levels will be decided upon at a later date. The Membership Card will help gain access to certain areas in the “Club” mode which is explained later in this post.
- Inventory - Naturally, an RPG needs and inventory, and we’re not skimping on the basics. The inventory will stash all necessary items to advance in the story. What these items will be, we’re not sure of yet.
- Dance Pad Compatibility - Yes, we’ll make it so that if you happen to have a PlayStation 3 DDR Dance Pad, it will work with this game. I’m not entirely sure which buttons correspond with which buttons on the controller, so any information on this would be nice.
Game Modes
Dance RPG will feature three different game modes, all accessible from a HUB menu level. The three game modes are as follows.
Campaign/Story Mode - The story of the RPG is presented in this section. Load levels with a world map and key/password system. We’re not entirely sure which one it will be yet. There will be 11 levels. Each level will feature one dance crew that you must battle and obtain their leader to expand your own dance crew. The leaders of these crews will function as “boss battles”, and as such, will be much harder than the subordinate members. Team battles will take place occasionally, especially after you begin expanding your team. The final level will be the dance competition that you’ve been working toward the entire game and will be the toughest dance challenge yet. It shall be the most epic of epic dance battles.
Versus Mode - Versus Mode is standard in any rhythm dance game, and so we’ve decided including one would be a good idea. Pair up with some buddies either through the internet or in your own living room and duke it out in brutal dance battles. Choose songs that will be updated occasionally with a optimized menu, choose dance arenas, and choose either your own character, or characters from the story. It’s all up to you.
Club Mode - Club Mode is a unique mode that will be updated weekly (most likely) with new songs and dance crews to dance to and battle. This level will not be permanent and will be deleted and republished weekly with a new dance crew and song to try out. The reason for the republishing and deleting is so that the scoreboard resets. We will be tracking the top dancer (or top 5) and award them with access to the Special Person Room Of Incredible Awesomeness (or SPROIA for short). We’re not sure yet. There will be special rooms you can access in this Club via your Membership Card, and increasing the level of the card will gain access to more exclusive rooms and content. You’ll have a higher chance of reaching #1 if you have a fully upgraded card, as you can battle more dance crews and play more songs in one go.

Other Qualifications: This field only goes so far, and this is where you can mention specific rewards (i.e. Mm Picks; legitimate employment; ect.). However, what will mostly be taken into account is what we can see from your lbp.me account.
Requested Position: Just mention what job you wish to fulfill. Any job name works. Just as long as we can get the general idea of what you want to be doing for this project (i.e. Sackbot animation, composing music).
Microphone or Keyboard: Having either will not increase chances or not having either will not decrease your chances of getting hired. We’re just curious, and knowing if you have either will lead to further communication discussion when hired. Keyboards are preferred however as mics don’t always have the best of quality.
