Sackbot Rolling

Hey Sackies:)
In my new level I am including a sackbot that the player assumes control of, and it can roll. I am using SilverScorp91's tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=te1qoDYKrT0, after I did everything in the tutorial (twice) I have come across the same problem-I can only roll to the right! Whenever I am facing to the left, it won't activate the rolling at all.
Can you please watch the tutorial and see what Scorp might've done wrong, as there are other users complaining about the problem as well.

This sounds noobish, but how about REVERSING all the logic? So a 360 Rotator would be a -360 rotator? I havent seen the tutorial myself, so ill have to see it later and get what you mean.

I think I noticed you asking for help in a few other threads as well, but you never really give much info for us to be able to determine the problem. We can only make guesses at what you might have done wrong and wait for you to tell us whether we are correct (assuming you understand what we are saying). Please consider the following advice:

• Isolate the source of the problem. Move that sackbot out of that complex level. If any variables are around, get in control over them: set them in advance.
• Use sounds and lights connected to crucial bits of logic so you can tell what does and does not work, even though at first it is invisible.
• If you cannot track down the problem yourself, isolate it as far as you can, make screenshots (of logic) that you post here with your problem and try to clearly describe what you have set up; this will also give us insight into whether you understand what you have created.

Best case scenario: we can tell you exactly what is wrong with your setup. Worst case: we helped you gain the knowledge to solve the problem yourself.

While that may be true, from that tutorial (assuming you watched it)I was asking if you were able to see any flaws in the logic. As you might have seen, the video has different cuts so it is possible that scorp might have done something in between those cuts that he may have forgotten to put in the tutorial.
Also, I'm not sure I understand about how I don't give enough information. My other questions were answered promptly and correctly, and nobody seemed to have any trouble understanding what I meant.

The only flaw I see in his logic is that one will be able to initiate a roll into the opposite direction during a roll, because the directional signal is not disabled. That is simply done by placing a node before the splitter and put that onto a microchip. Hook the output of both roll timers to an inverted OR gate and the ouput of that gate to the activation of the microchip.

This, however does not explain the problem you are reporting. Can you show a screenshot of your logic and tell us the settings of the movers and rotators you are using? You did not set the impact sensors to a specific tag ("ground") and forgot about the left one? You see, I can only guess at this point.

do you have a selector wired up to switch to the direction you went last and not just a directional splitter? You need to wire the splitter to the selector.

Ah yes I get it now. But that is not the tutorial's premise!! OP tries to stand still and do a barrel roll, while the tutorial clearly requires the bot to move. From standstill, even a roll to the right should not work if you follow the tutorial.

poorjack is right; if you want to be able to do a roll from standstill, make a dual port selector remember the last direction you were moving into. The selector goes in between the two AND gates and the splitter output.

Yeah. Standstill rolling only works with a selector. You need some way of telling your bot which way to go!

I don't want to do a roll from standstill, I want to do it while I am walking or running to the left. When I try to do this, nothing happens when I press the circle button! It works fine from the right, though

what I have described works with either a standstill roll or a moving roll

So, I just need to put a selector in between the and gates and the splitter, connect the splitter output to the selector and connect the selector outputs to the two AND gates?

ANALog stick> Direction splitter> Selector> 2 chips. (one wired to + one to -) Rigth on the ANALog stick makes a + signal Left makes a -

OK thanks for the pic! BTW, using your method, are the AND gates needed? Also, what is that group of four circles in the pic?

Those are the buttons on the PS3 controller(X,O,square, triangle)
