I get the feeling whoever wrote the Search engine also wrote this little piece of code... the careless style seems similar.
I suppose I should remove the word "happened" from Midnight Train now that I know that it was the one responsible for the speech bug I had. As a show of protest though, I think I will not remove the words that trip the censors, but deliberately misspell them somehow.

Actually, it's not what they do, it's just because the way they programmed their thing is really bad. They simply check and match letters. When some letters are adjacent they simply cancel the whole word it was in.
The intelligent way to make a censorship system is to make a word database and check after every word the player writes. Seriously.
The game is rated E for everyone, if the game doesn't let you write certain words then it totally is doing its homework. The way people might interpret some words and finding words between words is people's problem, not the game. When I write "cockpit" it means "cockpit" and not "****". I should have the right to write that just like the word "cockpit" can be seen ANYWHERE and in kids programs because it simply doesn't mean "****".
Also, If by their censorship logic they need to censor words withing words, why are they permitting the chat via headset? I can tell you really bad things if I want. Why is headset communications permitted? Simply because it's not the problem of the game but the one of people. Since their censorship isn't well thought out or making sense, they don't apply this principle with text.

Yeah, it's really stupid. And even worse is, if one of your sentences says something like...
"It was basic until the monster grew huge" ( Yeah... Wtf? )
It would censor it, because the c in basic and the first 3 letters in until, spell a bad word. It's just really lame... :p

Well, as far as this is concerned... take is from the developers point of view. If they didn't offer mic support they'd be nailed to the wall... no question. The other thing is, censoring text is infinitely easier than voice. If you were to censor voice you'd have to have a ridiculous amount voice recognition software that would have to process everything that's being transmitted and then filter it out... which would create a completely unacceptable amount of lag.
