I have a question. Can I make the ending have no water like around the scoreboard, not to say anything I just the scoreboard to be dry. Can I do that? Please tell:cry: Im not sure
Bio... can it be different character as in making sprites? Like as long as they drown and is fast paced?
They want the level to use Sackboy himself, not another character manipulated by a controlinator.
So many questions for such a simple request.
They want a fast paced underwater level that mirrors the "Culture Meeting" level by Riki from LBPC1 contest. So you need to use sackboy and have him fly around this level underwater really fast.
Problem is, the water is buggy as hell and without gravity, having that smooth flow is incredibly difficult.
Very true, this water has become very difficult. It will be a nice change though to see some solid underwater lvls, even though they might not be super fast. I never created with water, never knew how things would actually move around. This contest has a become a good new learning experience for me. Good luck everyone :)
Very true m8, my level plays great sometimes, then other times it doesn't. It's the drag off the water and its pretty random. Hopefully the judge's will playthrough a few times.
Sorry guys to have been absent from the questions but it appears they have been answered anyway. As far as the bugginess of the water, yes, we will take that into consideration. I know that sometimes it's unpredictable at best. Good luck guys, I know you all are going to Wow us with your creations!
Yeah bruce I 100% agree with you. Sometimes it works, sometimes it's just a mess. I feel that this contest will have promising entries, but making it as smooth as the contest creators had expected won't be an option.
And yeah I agree about the nice new batch of solid underwater levels. I've actually been wanting to build one for a while but it's so difficult to brainstorm creative ideas that don't involve the use of gravity.
I was just wondering if fast-paced means that Sackboy himself needs to move really fast, or can you consider not letting players rest being fast-paced? I mean that Sackthing will move with its normal speed, but it will not be able to halt as something behind him forces him to go on (spikes, fire, whatever). And I do not mean scrolling effect, because it does not quite work for the idea of my level.
Guys seriously. THIS is what they are looking for, just underwaterfied. Really fast moving level where things are just happening at a mind blowing pace and you need to be quick with your R1 button. Basically you shouldn't even need to use your left joystick or X button. The X button can really screw up your level underwater I noticed. People can just slow down and ruin the flow completely.

Unless you find some new mindblowing way of moving sackboy fast underwater without the use of the environment to move him.
Question: Can we use copyrighted music that was remade into a sequencer? Will that hurt scoring? Would I be better off using Mm Music or creating my own unique song? I don't want to risk using the sequencer as it may inflict lag in an already laggy atmosphere (water)

I realised how much I really don't care about a crown... but I recognise that there are some people that would do anything for one, so I'm gonna withdraw to give them a better chance.
Saying that I do still intend to publish the level eventually... some day

But I'm participating only because I love the idea of an underwater level. Having a lot of fun building with it. Why have we not done this before?!?!

Yeah same, I keep seeing that he had some "Secret Weapon" of an idea. Please divulge your secret sir. I'm actually very curious. Because I've messed about with about everything and found the only things that make sackboy go up/down fast are bouncepads, fast moving grabbable sponges + inout movers, and cake.
Cake tends to make sackboy move exceptionally quickly in whichever direction it is placed... not sure why.. still running tests on this
Question: Can sackboy come out of the water for the scoreboard?

Don't take it the wrong way guys... I love the contest idea... but someone would appreciate the prize alot more than me and I can make a better level working outwith a deadline. Obviously I could of just given the prize to 2nd place... but that wouldn't be as good as them winning so... and thats all based on a theoretical win anyway which is unlikely.
However, I'm still happy to help you guys out with questions and whatever... just message me if you need me.

Interesting Discovery for those creators out there who, like myself, have been underwater for quite some time now.
Movers have a max speed underwater of around 15. Anything above that does not effect it's speed. I ran tests with objects and found that objects with speed 20 and speed 100 moved at the exact same slow speed as eachother underwater. But above water, both these speeds moved much faster.
In short: Avoid left/right movers... they weren't designed correctly to be used underwater.

This is seriously a tough one. I honestly haven't even started on a level yet. I do have one idea, but it just seems like an underwater edition of a level thats already out there, and im not sure if its enough to make it unique.
I'm still gonna give it my best shot though. Hopefully I can get something published before the deadline.

Does the level have to be ocean based, I see a lot of people doing that and I'm taking a different, more creative turn. tell me if it's okay.

But no it just has to be in the "Water" feature that's about it. Doesn't say anything about what the "water" is exactly (blood for example inside a body).
Hopefully at least one person has a level about navigating a bowl of soup. :)

Aw man I'm excited. I've been spending all week working on the gameplay and was worried about my theme. But now I've got it, and I keep adding to it and it looks even more epic. Just hoping I don't run into thermo issues or lag issues. Only 25% through my level and have half thermo :(

I got my inspiration from looking at one thing and combining the two together to make a wacky problem.
Yup clocked it just now at 45 seconds if I don't make any player mistakes. Only 50% of my level is complete. And thermo is sitting at a hot 65%
Times like this i wish this game were on PC....

Hy guys, sorry for asking but am I allowed about 10 seconds of cutscene (intro) above the water? It's just a docking area so water is still visible and involved, then all the gameplay is underwater. Thanks.
