(0.o) Lol i dont even know bruce (well know of)...but then again thats just what i would say if i was a spy...eh forget it=pQuote:
Hmmm... Sounds like a SPY for Brucethejam! I know what game you're playing at Brucie!
Actually, if you look a few pages back (e.g. pg13) in the thread we state that it can be shorter... but we do not define an exact time. Just bear in mind it has to keep us entertained so it can't be too short and just try to get as close as you can. Remember quality > quantity.
Rules were changed. It has to be no less than 2minutes. He did this for the reason I stated above (water has a significant impact on the thermo making it harder to extend the length than those fast paced normal platformers)
I thought it needed to be at least 2minutes? Did the rules change agaain?
Oh yeah, Sorry Dav1d0! Let me Officially announce that Dav1d0 is now an Official part of the Illustrious Contest Crew! I think you all can agree that he has already been an invaluable asset in this thread and we are pleased as punch that he has come aboard. Welcome to the Crew Dav1d0!
The time issue has been talked about. We arbitrarily mentioned the 2 minute mark as a starting off point. We want quality gameplay. Like I said, we're not going to sit there with a stopwatch but please give us at least 2 minutes. I want to play dang it! Wow us, thrill us, amaze us! Man, I can't wait to see all your work! Good luck to everyone. Deadline in T-minus about 18 days remaining. About.
For anyone having trouble making their levels long because they are running out of thermo from making their levels very detailed. just use the good old Emit & Destroy Trick. this is a trick any creator should learn how to use good at some point. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/sho...troy-Technique
Lol i thought of this. Tried it. But it kills gameplay. It freezes the level for a second and kills the flow. I might still use it. The second half of my level is seperate from the first half for this reason. I'm hoping I can hit two minutes without having to do this trick.
Edit: After reviewing that thread you provided, I'm going to give this another shot. I'll try emitting more small sections. He addressed this issue so I'm hoping it'll work. I just hope the emitter doesn't screw up. I'm using small grid and sometimes LittleBigPlanet can act all silly :P
Can't really enter this... (Can I?... No, I can't... I can't even create outside water).
Let's hope LBPC9 is a little more possible? :p
Congratz Dav1d0, party time :p
@ Valeveiw ahh come on. Okay if that's the way you want it. I thought this contest was a little easy once I had my idea
Tried that emit/destroy trick. Failed. Some sections would emit with random magical boxes that cut into the object. Some pieces would be flipped upside down or emit ontop of other objects. Very glitchy. Not worth the time and effort. Glad I made a backup XD
it works fine if you know what you are doing. i know the problem you are talking about. and i know how to avoid it. you most likely were emitting some objects like the tube or paper roll objects. there's a small list of objects that don't emit well. the emit/destroy trick is something that takes a long time to master. so if you or anyone is not used to it. you may have a hard time. *mew
can i enter my level? its http://lbp.me/v/bnfpr3
...ok then...
Well anyway. Still doesn't change the fact that it's not worth my time and effort. The thermo is there for a reason, to keep players from making a level lag too much. And a fast paced level is the last place I want to induce lag. So thanks for the tip but I'll avoid this emitter method, even if there are "Correct" ways of doing it.
Ps: Yes I was emitting a section that had a tube in it, that would explain why this problem was occuring.
I'm Working at this contest :)
It's over.. the battle has been won... against my thermometer. Level is complete. Now I can focus entirely on my work for LBP Vita Beta :) Good luck to the other creators! I'm really looking forward to seeing what you guys pull off ;)
Lol, thought I might show this... the creative process at work XD

Those 3 containers used to be filled with pretzals, cheezits, and wheat thins XD
my friend helped out, would he recieve the winnings too?
I'd just like to add that this is generally the same with the rare "lbpc contest winner" pin too. If we have multiple prizes up for grabs we will clearly state this in the rules, but in this case (LBPC8 Aquatic Acceleration) it's just the one. For future reference, usually this information is presented in the "how to enter" section of the original post.

After the deadline, the judges will grab their flippers and select the best levels based on the scoring criteria below. The creator of the best level will be pinned/crowned a winner!
:(Okay! looks like ill have to tell my friend he wont be getting a crown. Not excited.:(
my idea is to make a emitter emit a player sensor on a bounce pad
i want some good water levels to play! Why do i have to wait 2 weeks :'(
(LBPC8) Bounce,Bounce,Splash Out Now!!!! http://lbp.me/v/bqxeyc Bounce through the Coral reef in this Fun Colourful race. Try to get as many points as you can while bouncing off Fishes, Spinning on Coral and Diving through the air. This is my entry for LBPC8 hope you enjoy
I...i still don't get it :/
@Moose They give a list of things that your level will be judged on. Just go by that. Basically if your level is fun, looks pretty, plays smoothly, and sounds good, you've got yourself a contender :)
@gary SWEET! I've been looking forward to playing that level! Gonna try it out now :) And is Yu-Kamones level unlocked? I thought it was still locked :(
Edit: I played Y-Kamones level, it was sooo good! Loved it! Definitely has the potential for getting that first place :) Can't wait to see more entries, very cool contest idea!
its bounces you off the bounce pad and the player sensor makes it where its triggered
I started building my level yesterday, I hope it will be ready 'till 17th June!
I always wondered something about Kamone. Maybe she is hiding his/her's crown so she can get the code and give it to a friend that has been extraordinary or give it to an unfamous creator who deserves it. This is just a maybe
Once again, we are not going to stop anyone from entering the contest... their prior lbp history has no effect on their likelyhood to win. If a winner already has the prize we will deal with it when (and if) the time comes. In this case you are all basing your arguments on a winners pin, I'd like to point out that said user won that pin by being a runner up in lbpc6. (the awarding of these extra runner-up pins is a one time only deal and will not be repeated for every contest). By extension, they are still allowed to enter in hopes of gaining a crown too.
Anyway, these situations are all hypothetical anyway... I can only repeat my earlier advice, if you want to influence where the prizes go, you need to build a winning level so you can obtain them yourself. Best to concentrate on your own work rather than others.
Saying all that... the best of luck to each and everyone of you.
W8 a bit... you're saying that only the player that published the level will get a crown. But can 2 players, that both helped equally with the making of the level publish the entry on each's earth(probably not:()? I've seen quite a few old entries done with HUGE teams I think it would've been hard to convince them help if they didn't get anything.... Has it ever been the case to be sent multiple prizes(crownies)?
Multiply crowns will only be given if we advertise the contest as a co-create contest (see lbpc6). In this case it is not, so only the person who publishes the level will receive the prize. Each entry may only be published once, multiple attempts may lead to disqualification.
Just to confirm what Dav1d0 said, it's correct that unless the contest is a co-create contest (like LBPC6) then only one Crown and pin will be awarded and they'll be given to the PSN account under which the winning entry was published. If the winner already has a Crown, then the Crown will be awarded to the runner up.
I suspect that the huge teams Frenzie saw were those for LBPC6 which required teams of 4 creators to enter. That was very much a one off (it was our big Christmas contest, actually). Most of the winning entries for the other contests have been the work of a single creator.
Hope that clears things up. :)
