In the beginning Notch created the Void and the Earth. Now the Earth was lifeless and empty, the surface was flat, and the Spirit of Notch had no animations.
And Notch said, "Let there be blocks", and there were blocks. Notch saw that the blocks were good, and he introduced lighting effects. Notch created the day/night cycle. And there was sunset, and there was sunrise —the first day.
And Notch said, "Let there be a layer between level 0 and 5 to separate Earth from the Void". So Notch made the layer and separated the levels under the layer from the levels above it. And it was so. Notch called the layer "bedrock". And there was sunset, and there was sunrise —the second day.
And Notch said, "Let the demonic beings be gathered to a hellish dimension, and let the Enders teleport from a place deep in the Void". And it was so. Notch called these dimensions “the Nether” and “the End” And Notch saw that it was awesome.
Then Notch said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees of many kinds". And it was so. The land produced vegetation: grass and flowers, melons and pumkins, wheat and trees. And Notch saw that it was good. And there was sunset, and there was sunrise —the third day.
And Notch said, “Let there be lights in the skybox to separate the day from the night. Let them serve as signs to mark when it's dangerous to be outside, and let there be monsters that spawn at night". And it was so. Notch made two square lights—the Sun to herald the safety of the day and the Moon to announce the dangers of the night. He also made creepers, zombies, skeletons and spiders. Notch coded them to spawn in the dark, to burn in the day and prowl in the night. And Notch saw that it was awesome. And there was sunset, and there was sunrise —the fourth day.
And Notch said, "Let the dirt teem with living creatures, and let creepy demons lurk in the Nether". So Notch created the great mobs of the Nether and every living thing with which the land teems. And Notch saw that it was awesome. Notch coded them with AI and said, "Be fruitful and drop useful items when killed". And there was sunset, and there was sunrise —the fifth day.
Then Notch said, "Let us make the players in our image, but blocky, so that they may rule over the animals in the Earth and the demons in the Nether, over the neutral mobs and all the monsters". And so Notch created Steve to be customized at will by the players. Notch gave them animations and said to them, "Mine and craft; shape the earth and explore it. Rule over the mobs in the Earth and the Nether and the End".
And Notch said, "I give you every ore you can mine, every seed-bearing plant, every mob you can butcher for food, every monster you can slay for item drops” And it was so. Notch saw all that he had coded, and it was awesome. And there was sunset, and there was sunrise —the sixth day.
Thus the Earth and its parallel dimensions were generated in all their blocky glory.
By the seventh day Notch had finished the work he had been doing; so on he rested from all his programming. Then Notch launched Minecraft and made it Alpha, because a new development cycle had begun.
