Not at all, its the same as normal minecraft. I have a laptop, windows XP, 1.6 GHz, and with optifine I get 20-30 FPS usually. You dont even have to download or install anything to play it, just join a server. http://minez.net/
It's a game that originally came out for PC and recently made its way into the 360. If you're interested the PC version is by far the best one to get because a lot of features were cut out of the 360 and it's much more limited in scope.
Everything in Minecraft is made out of blocks and the focus is building and creativity. The game just drops you into the middle of a natural landscape where you can gather resources and build houses, farms, castles, whole cities, whatever you want. You can combine items on a crafting grid to produce new, more advanced and useful items.
But first you have to survive the first couple of nights. See, there's this survival aspect: monsters like zombies, skeletons and creepers spawn in the darkness, so when night comes, they're crawling all over the place. You must build a basic shelter and light it up with torches to avoid being attacked. You have to craft a sword and bow & arrows to defend yourself, armor for better protection; axes, shovels and pickaxes to dig, cut and mine faster. You can mine down to the bowels of the earth to get better ores, and with that, craft better gear. Or you could explore the surface, travelling through deserts, jungles, forests, plains, hills, ravines or icy tundras. And of course, you must gather food to eat, because if you're hungry your health won't regenerate. You can hunt down pigs, cows and chickens for their meat. You can fish, grow melons, pumpkins or cultivate wheat to make bread.
At first it looks really simple, but you'll be amazed once you realize the scope of all of it. There are really cool items like compasses, in-game clocks and maps that you can craft. There are two completely insane parallel dimensions you can travel to once you've built magical portals. You can make traps and mechanisms using buttons, levers and pistons. If you want, you can tame a wolf or cat and have it as a pet. You can play it solo, with a friend on in a public server. You can play on survival mode or if you want to just build with all the resources you want, there's creative mode. If you want to customize the look and gameplay of your Minecraft, there are hundred of user-made texture packs and mods you can freely install. Or you could download and play an "adventure map" made by another Minecrafter.
And Mojang, the developer that made the game, is constantly updating it to add new stuff. Recently they've added things like NPC villages, item trading, potion brewing, item enchanting, animal breeding, lots of new stuff. The game never stops getting better.
The problem is, Minecraft isn't exactly newcomer friendly. There's a lot of stuff you need to learn and there's no in-game tutorial. You have to learn the crafting recipes and the properties of each item by watching walkthroughs on Youtube or by reading the wiki.
Here's a relatively recent series of Let's Play by CaptainSparklez.
Here's a series of tutorial videos, just follow the links at the end of each video to know about more stuff.
Here's the Minecraft subreddit, if you want to check out cool stuff made by other Minecrafters

Whoa SnipySev! That was an excellent answer! I'll be sure to check those links! :D I would thank your post twice if I could!
Minecraft. Is. Perfect.
They just need to.... fix the terrain.
Been gone for awhile. What's new with the server?
Made a fancy railway and pathway.
Kernel only got into one argument.
I spent hours toiling away to install Dynmap and succeeded.
This map has Tanrock's approval.
Massive bloody snow biome which is where most people are.
Eoghan made a pretty wooden house. I called it Colin, and a village (Colinwood) was born.
David made a big thing in the sky.
Memodrix made a big pumpkin before his leave of absence.
Aaand I just installed WorldEdit and WorldGuard. (The other plugins haven't properly updated yet) c:
I tried to join but my client says I'm not white-listed on the server. Do I need to send my account name to somebody or something?
Ok, my account name is TomField.
I will probably only look around because I'm too shy.
Hey memo, I was wondering (if you still have it) could you put the 1.0 world up for download? I'm in a nostalgic mood. :)
I tried to connect and it seems as though I am no longer white-listed. My minecraft account is xero11213. If you could kindly re-add me to the white-list I would greatly appreciate it.
*Pops in* Ohai guys, I now have Minecraft too. :D
Not too shabby at it, digged up a million iron and gold but can't seem to find as much diamond. (Altough I encountered emerald aswell.)
Oh, and I made that portal too hell (Nether is it called?) and found a burning cage with such a spinning monster in it.
Is et possible to mine this? Tried it before but I didn't get anything. ;_;
Anywai, I love this game, why didn't I get it earlier?
EDIT: oh yeah, and skeletons are PURE EVIL!!!1 :kz:
the cage is a monster spawner... no you can't get it unless you are in creative mode
