I kinda wanted to know, how come we have to change worlds every update? I was planning on making something, but with 1.3 being so imminent I don't know...
Generally we only change if there's a major world generation tweak. Like when Jungles came out with 1.2. We started a new world after that because the 1.2 world had reached 1.3gb or something crazy like that. Now people want to change again for some unknown reason... :I The only reason would be for the large biomes even though our world limit would only have like 3...
My scheduled leave of absence is almost up so I can't wait to get back on the server again and start arguing with you all :3
aw man, we're getting a new world again?? but Josh's Newleafe village place is so nice! I'd hate to see him have to build it all again. and we've got all these other cool towns, too. I have to agree that the terrain is pretty boring, but we've had this world for a while already and everyone's already built so much stuff.
also I've spent like the past week stocking up on books since they're going to be pretty rare when the next update comes. I'm really not looking forward to hunting a billion cows just to make a nice library.
Instead of hunting a billion cows, you could just lure at least two cows into a pen and grow a billion of wheat to make them mate. Should be easier in the long run.
(But of course it's not worth planning things for the long run if people keep moving to new worlds with every update that comes along.)
I'd just like to point out that no one had said we're getting a new world, one person said they wanted a new world, that was it.
Oh, and sorry I haven't been on the server in decades, I'll probably come back sometime after May is finished. Then I can finish building my house that I've left unfinished for ages.
Pleeeeeaaaaase no new worlds.
It'd be epic if we had this world so long that the whole thing turned into a massive metropolis. :kz:
If you guys want to crank it up a notch you could get the Technic Pack. Oil, pipelines, pumps, refineris, quarries, nuclear reactors, advanced rail tracks, mining robots, all kinds of automated machinery to destroy the landscape and drain it from all its resources in a matter of days.
It's a good mod pack to make the game much more broad, but the problem with it is that it's too complex. Too many ores and machinery and recipes to remember.
I like it. Lets destroy those ugly swamp biomes and kill everything in them and replace them with mines and factories, pluming out pollution to kill all the life trying to survive in the dwindling swamps, only to realize, on their last, choking, carbon monoxide dusty breathe, that if theyd only chosen one of the true biomes, there putrid life may have been spared...
Im fine with keeping this world, its just... I really rather having it with no limit. If it didnt have a limit, we could find better biomes and getting an overall better quality server.
The rapid fire bow an time control mod!

*confused look for 10 minutes*
.......
Wat? I have no plans to re-do a world for 1.3
Anyway, why do you guys have borders on the server?
the whole 'lets go as far as possible in any given direction' thing lead to the world getting way to large.
It'd be cool if we could store written books in actual bookcases. It'll look lame having a library wherein the bookcases are just for decoration and the books people wrote have to be stored in chests nearby.
In case there's a religious nut in the server, you might want to make your library out of non-flammable materials. Encased in an obsidian room. With a complex wall of pistons opened by a redstone combination lock as a gate. And to get to it one must find his way through a gigantic, three-dimensional Escher-esque labyrinth of ladders, glass mazes, interconnected series of bridges and staircases, tunnels, halls filled with traps, puzzles and platforming sections above pools of lava. All deep underground. And the secret entrance discreetly submerged on the bottom of a deep lake.
We'll call it "The Vault". But if you build it, they will come...
Yes, it would be awesome. And when the facility is finished, after days writing books, after weeks of foraging trips to gather resources, after months of planning, digging and building... this monument to ingenuity and craftsmanship, this homage to the importance of knowgledge and freethought would be finally complete. You're finally ready to announce your magnum opus to the world and wait for the worthy pilgrims who are brave and sly enough to beat your trials and join your order.
And then people come to you and say:
"Hey dude, did you know we're shutting down the server and starting a new world?"
You mean like this?
border radius now is doubled from 2k to 4k.

You're welcome.
You know how stone pressure plates can be activated by mobs and players only, and wooden plates can be activated by dropped items? Maybe Mojang could make a new type of plate, for example an iron pressure plate. That one would be activated only by players and not by mobs. That way we could have automated doors without the risk of a monster entering our house.
