Why new map...? This one just got fun to play when you collect resources. There are ways to remove exp floating around if need be.
New mob weeeee

Edit: according to Jeb, Nether update tomorrow.
I have recently discovered something. I hate poisonous spiders. Hate hate hate HATE them. There should be an antidote in game, or like, a vaccine which works the same way as armour, but to protect against poisoning.
Someone keeps destroying the Melon plants i'm planting, I don't know if this was by mistake or not but if you do accidentally destroy a plant then please can you sacrifice a delicious slice of melon in order to replant it.
Good news, acceptable news time!
Good news:
bukkit for 1.8.1 is out now, and we will be moving to it now.
Acceptable News:
until the plugins we use are updated we will remain on the vanilla server's map.
also:
It seems like some plugins may bite the big one, as big deals like this tend to thin the plugin developer herd a little. Big brother is the first (and biggest) casualty. However, it seems it is getting merged with another plugin, so we'll be golden soon i think.
Looks like we'll need a new new bukkit soon.Quote:

I feel sorry for Memo. Just as he gets 1.8.1 Bukkit, 1.9 pre release shows up :P

^What? is there something odd in the pic? all i see odd maybe is the floating island? *mew
Nothing particularly odd other than the island that defies gravity and the overhang in the background.
I posted purely out of aesthetic adoration. :3
Some screenshots I got of the Nether in the 1.9 Pre Release.
Spoiler - Pictures here
I also spotted some Nether Slimes, same as normal Slimes except they're black with red fiery eyes. I saw a couple near my portal, but I forgot to get a shot of them before I killed them and then flew for ages and couldn't find another. Oh well!
EDIT: Finally found some more. They move like an accordion when they jump. So weird.
Spoiler - pictures here
Oop...Just realized all this (and more) was already covered here.
so who wants me to throw on the test server then?

1.10 = 1.1
1.9 > 1.1
1.9 + 0.1 = 2.0
I am confused.
Simply put, version numbers don't always work well with math.
You'd think that with the internet at their fingertips, people would check for themselves :p
Here you go.
Yeah, so uh...I was kind of exploring the stronghold, and came across the ravine that goes through it, and uh...Died in the lava...And you know how I was crashing a lot yesterday? Yeah, when I fell in the lava it crashed and now every time I log into the server, I'm still in the lava and I crash immediately.
And uh...On a totally unrelated note, those 5 stacks of stone bricks we needed for the library kind of died in some lava...
Guys, you're thinking of decimals, version numbers are not decimals. The fact we had an update 1.8.1 should make that obvious.
I believe you have seriously misunderstood everything.
Game versions work with the decimal system
1.9 = 1.90
1.1= 1.10
I would have understood 1.95, or 2.0, but 1.10? I'm surprised he can even program a game if he can't use decimals properly. On top of that, I'm also amazed at how almost nobody caught that and actually thought it was correct (sad really, because that's reflecting on everybody's education).
You should rephrase that; you come off as rude, and if I didn't know better I'd say you just challenged my intelligence... or my "education" as you so eloquently put.
Version numbers can use the standard decimal system, but usually don't. You should click that link. You might learn something, and look less foolish in the process!
LOL. I thought for sure I was dead, since I crashed while I was still in the lava and couldn't log back in for a couple of hours. I was finally able to log in again, jumped out of the lava, and survived the fire. Then I found 5 diamond ores right nearby.

I'm sorry for my terrible phrasing. I wasn't talking about you guys in general, but instead the internet as a whole. I know the decimal system applies to versions sometimes, and to be honest I thought Notch was using the decimal system this time. Usually you'll see a developer go from 1.9 to something similar or 2.0; betas usually end up with another ".", but Notch didn't do that, hence why I thought he messed up his ability to count.
Final Note: No, I don't just criticize a person's education for no reason; they have to do something really stupid in order for me to go to that level. However, judging from the way you responded, you're a pretty smart guy. I actually wish more people lash out on me like that; usually when I talk to someone like that (mainly trolls or a**holes) they just try to curse and threaten me. :p
