Vita's or LBP2's?
I personally like 2's plot better. It really showed that you're really part of an alliance, instead of a random number of puppets that suddenly realized that they are related to each other after you beat the final boss. Plus, I think they should've added another world instead of of having Spooky Mansion being last. Like the carnival hub that you find at the beginning.
I vote for LBPV, this one time, it isn't about a vilian stealing stuff. [SPOILERZ!!!1] Ok, the Hollow steal the luck of LBP but there's a reason behind it, they need that to make more Hollows, when I see LBP1, the collector just steals stuff ... That's it. On LBP2, the Negativitron sucks up stuff ... That's it. I do agree on the alliance part, it's awesome. in the end, it's a close call but I still vote for LBPV for being slightly more original.

I liked LBPV story more. LBP2 had a story like todays games? I guess. You defeat a bad guy, game over everybody is happy. While LBPV takes back to LBP1. You defeat the bad guy, but apparently he is not bad at all. Everybody become friends. LBPV have a happy story.
Can't there be an option for both? They're both crazy and creative in a distinctly LBP way =).
There seem to be a lot of similarities in LBP Plots in general though. As Nys said earlier, villains stealing stuff seems to be a pretty common theme. The plot of LBP Vita had some of that as well.
LBP PSP seems like the only one where creations weren't getting stolen. And, also, both handheld LBPs involve a carnival (Carnival of Creators in LBP PSP and Carnivalia in LBPV). Despite that, I still really like them of course.Spoiler - spoiler
LBP Vita was pure genius.
I liked Vita's story more but LBP2's presentation of it's story a lot more. Vita's presentation feels like you are going all over the place for no reason. so PLOTWISE, I go for LBP2
I'd vote for LBPVita. I really LOVED both stories, but Vita made a whole new thing for an LBP game, introducing a "creepy" and dark story, featuring some really nice voice acting and -in my opinion- a better designed plot.
I vote LBP1. LBP has always been a game about charm, not some stupid plot. A simple plot that has Sackboy adventuring around the world works perfectly well in my books. You felt as if you were in a diorama world with a plot thought up by a child, but in the later games they just tried too hard when it really wasn't necessary. LBPV's was tolerable, but LBP2 was completely unbearable.
Yeah, LBP1's "story" was simple yet very enjoyable; anyway, I don't think LBP2's Story mode was "completely unbearable". I think it had a pretty epic story actually. It would be quite boring if every LBP game's story was just Sackboy travelling around the globe doing random quests and stuff. LBP1 was excellent, but it was time to move on.Quote:

I got nothing but pure unadulterated joy from playing LBP1, even though until one of the latest levels you didnt actually get told about any storyline (the collector appeared all the way throughout the game staling characters, but you didnt notice him until you knew who he was).
It was so much more fun, and without the painful cut scenes it was much more enjoyable to play through the game again in order to ace and collect everything. :)
I totally agree about the cutscenes Skalio. Some of them are painful and unnecessary.
I'm not even done with the whole story mode of LBP Vita, and the language is in Dutch so i don't know every single level by English name, but i hope i can participate in talking about the story mode.

(P.S. the materials that you have in the Vita are way too different from eachother. I mean, when would i use wood with funfair lights on its sides in a normal level? You didn't really have that on the PSP.)
i have lbp psp and lbpv and i loved both. I don't have a ps3, but i did want to see the lbp2 story mode, so i watched it on youtube. I think they were all really awesome in their own way. lbp always has really amazing story's, so i can't wait for the first story dlc for vita.
I'd go with LBP2, and I'm surprised to see so many people voting for the non-existent option of LBP1. I'll agree, defeat the evil guy, it's been done before, but I found LBP1's ending to be so needlessly, sentimentally cliched, and the way the point of Sackboy's adventure came from nowhere; there seems to be a guy stealing the miscellaneous inhabitants of Craftworld, better defeat him, and when we do this menacing, horrible wrongdoer who we've known for about 10 minutes decides to join the forces of good because we destroyed his robot (and it being the very end of the game, he's never heard of again, rendering his last second decision utterly pointless!) To me it was like on the final week of development someone said "you guys wanna add like, a bad guy? I don't know." But don't get me wrong, the boss fight was incredible, I would have preferred if they either built him up so he had some kind of significance, or just made him another nobody who provides us with an unexpected challenge.
They were all great in different ways, but if I had to rate them, the list would go like this (from best to worst):
LBP1
LBP2
LBP Vita
LBP PSP
LBP1 had its story strangely executed. There is never really a "plot" until the last level of the Indian curator creator. Before that, you're just running around, doing random errands and such. Occasionally, you see something get taken away by the collector, but usually it happens really fast and you just think "Oh, that was weird" and maybe even doubt it happened. Then you suddenly have to rescue everybody, and the game gets hard, and there's an epic boss fight. I think the best thing about this is that while you're mostly just gadding about, there are these strange moments here and there that keep you wondering "What's that? Seriously, what was that?" which keeps you going. That pretty much makes it my favorite storyline. It's just having fun, with the slightest ominous quality to it.
LBP2's storyline is a lot different. It's more generic, but that doesn't mean it was bad. Unlike LBP1, it didn't try to build up suspense. Rather, it just has fun. There's no ominous quality to it like in LBP1. The villain is revealed right away, and the plot starts at the introduction. There's really no suspense, and nothing really leads you to think "What was that?" since all odd occurrences can just be explained by the Negativitron or Herbert Higginbotham. This story just bounces along, laughs at itself, and takes you along with it. It's adventurous, silly, whimsical, and it genuinely feels fun.
LBP Vita's storyline is a tad under LBP2's. It has some suspense, since you don't know what the Puppeteer is or what is with the Hollows, though it isn't as good as LBP1's. Also, the story doesn't feel as fun as LBP2's. I think what made this storyline good is the slight dark feeling to it. This is the darkest LBP game, and I know that that's not saying much (in fact, it's not saying anything at all), but it really gives the story an extra kick. I think the best part of LBP Vita's story mode is the lion puppet you see after the intro cutscene. It's at the end of the video here:

The music is not-quite-creepy and the puppet is not-quite-creepy but it still gives an strange feeling to the game. That's the best part of this storyline. It's not creepy, but it has a slightly darker feeling to it which makes it a lot more enjoyable.
And now we get to my last choice-LBP PSP. This is the only storyline I didn't like. Actually, it had no story whatsoever. Think of it like LBP1, but without the suspense or ominous feeling. And to be honest, that draws a ton of life out of it. I know the point is just to roam around and jump or whatever but you can only do that for so long before you get bored. You go through 7 worlds and nothing pulls you through them. The final world is just a feel-good, extremely easy carnival setting, and I don't remember much but the gameplay just had you moving things into place and/or jumping around and it just felt so boring. There's no excitement anywhere in the final world; heck, there's no excitement anywhere in the story.
Not to LBP PSP is a bad game. It's an excellent game. I just didn't like its story.
The LBP2 plot was INCREDIBLY brilliant and well thought out. I find it more fun beating a hard boss at the end after failing many times and than jumping around crazy yelling "YES!!!!!!!!!!"
LBPV on the other hand, was sort of plain, and easy to realize what is about to happen.
As a plot-nerd, I love games with deep plots and that kind of thing (precisely why I love Portal so much), and LBP has never really been strong in that department. However, I have to say that I really liked LBPV's.
I think it had something to do with the Hollows, the way that they were an integral part of the story and they really pulled them off well. We didn't see much of the Puppeteer and we were left wondering, which I thought worked quite well. I also liked how they made the game a bit darker, with the stolen joy and the scary TV's and all that.
But the thing that really did it for me was The Puppeteer's Diary.
Not just because it was a massive twist on the story, but partly because at the end of the Puppeteer's recording, you can hear the Hollows 'searching' for him, throwing crates everywhere and making their gibbering noises. It gave them a sort of physical presence, if you see what I mean. Made you feel that they actually existed, in a way.
It gave them that extra kick, making them the best LBP villains in my eyes. Particularly the Puppeteer's panicked 'No, we have to stop! You don't understand...'
So here's a list of my favourite stories:
1) LBPV
As described above.
2) LBP2
It had that kind of fun, whimsical quality that I think kind of defines LBP.
3)LBP1
Not brilliant, but at least we got those 'What was that?' moments whenever the Collector shows up.
4) LBPK
I'll be honest, this story was utter crop. Why are the sackbots shooting at you, if they're supposed to be your teammates? What's the point in making that Garbage Head boss? Why couldn't we fight the Hoard?
5) LBP PSP

LBP2 straight off. I will admit that LBP V may have made more sense than LBP 2. Like the bad guys had a bit more of a motive than LBP 2. However LBP2's plot did leave room for the imagination to construct. for example it doesn't say why the creators from lbp1 are in eves asylum or Why the negativatron was sucking up creativity. It left gaps which you were meant to fill in maybe give you ideas. plus PS vita does take you back to EVERYONE SUCKS but SACKBOY. the characters didn't even need to be there. In LBP2 you would not of beaten the boss with there help in the end. Also I too think the spooky mansion should not of been the last stage, would of been nice if it was the tent at the start with something that felt like the circus from medevil 2.
