First Playthrough Impressions:
Your visual style in this level is second to none. The pixel platforms combined with the detailed monsters is a really cool concept. The music is very fitting to the level and I appreciate you used custom music. As for gameplay, a few unique obstacles were offered but nothing completely outstanding. I really don't think that was the point of this level, though. The biggest reason to play this level is for the unique visual style.
I did encounter a few minor problems in the more difficult sections of the level, including checkpoint placement and a bounce pad failing to activate. These were annoying, but not enough to detract seriously from the overall experience. I was only able to find 1/7 secrets during my first go, so hat's off for hiding them so well. I will update this post after I have ran through it a few more times with additional feedback :)
After Multiple Plays:
After I already knew where those minor glitches were I had no trouble avoiding them all together. All in all I was able to count two times where the monsters were interactive, so keep that in mind if that is what you were expecting from this level. Was able to find 5 out of 7 secrets, they are very well hidden, so if you enjoy that in a level queue it now! :)
I didn't really notice this as much on my first play through, but there were zero story elements, which may have been done on purpose for a "retro" feel. Regardless, the level would have improved a lot from some story.
8/10
Final Verdict
Worth Every Minute Spent Playing!
My rating for this level is a solid 8/10. It could have easily been a 9 if more unique gameplay features were offered, there was any story, and the monsters were more interactive. This level's strong points are it's visuals and easter eggs. Keep in mind that on my scale, I will almost never give a 10/10 because I believe the beauty of LBP is that it is always improving.
