I haven't played LBP2 since playing the LBP3 beta, but my first impression of the graphics is that it's not that much of a step up, but the UI does look a lot clearer and "crispier". To be fair though, the graphics don't need to be amazeballs in a game like this.
Youtube isn't great for comparisons but it gives you a decent idea of how they both look side by side. This video also answered a question about some texture glitches that appear on the PS4 version. They don't appear on the PS3 version so I hope they sort it out.

Four quick questions for the beta testers, so many threads, not sure where to post them:
- Can bendy rail be moved during play? I've so far only noticed it being static in videos.
- When a player is switching between multiple characters (like little Toggle to big Toggle) is it possible to turn off the bit of smoke that normally appears?
- Would it be possible to switch back and forth from a built-in character (Sackboy & new friends) to a custom object used as a character? Like say, a Metal Gear level where you turn from SnakeBoy into a cardboard box to hide from the bad guys.
Thanks for info. Can't wait to play!
For your first question:
No, bendy rails can't be moved, they are static, but in the beta its very buggy when you attach it to something, emit it, etc. many freezes, hope it is possible in full game...
can't answer other questions, didnt try to switch so much, only toggled Toggle ^^
I honestly don't care about graphics. A new LBP is enough for me, let alone a new console.
The polygons on PS3 LBP games have always looked high-end PS2 quality to me tbh.
Also while the PS4 version does have a fairly clear difference and does looks nicer... It's still not worth buying a PS4 by itself just to play that version of the game imo. It's just a nice bonus if said person was already planing to get a PS4 soon. *mew
PS: They kinda messed up the lighting little on the PS3 version of LBP3 least in the beta. the lights don't show up very well on their eyes as well as they did on LBP1/2.
No, it's a conspiracy to make the PS4 version look better! ;)
I bought the ps4 just for lbp. It will soon become my digital lbp box for lbp and free plus games while my pc can take care of other games.
Have any beta testers tried out the Move + Navigation Controller on the PS4 version?
Can the rails be made invisible?
If I recall correctly, I remember hearing at some point a mention of the visibility on the bend-rails being tweakable, but don't quote me on that.
Yikes, the PS3 graphics looks like they took the graphic settings and set it to Low. Totally ported.
It's great that PS3 users are getting it, but YIKES, the PS3 version is actually a downgrade in visuals from LBP2. Sackboy looks so blurry.
I've been playing the beta on PS3, it looks exactly the same as LBP2. Not sure what you guys are seeing, but it's either down to youtube compression, or you've just forgotten what LBP2 actually looks like.
Just letting you guys know, LBP3 wasn't downgraded to PS3. It was natively developed for PS3 and UPGRADED to the PS4. That's why the early beta of LBP3 PS4 kept referring itself as the PS3 version.
And that's also why the PS4 version is being held back instead of the PS3 version struggling to keep up (which would result in a laggy mess).
There was one question I had:
Are there new music sequencer instruments?
The thermo space has vastly improved. Anyone making a level should automatically put the thermo on dynamic and get used to using the Permanency and Preload. They're pretty straight forward and even I can get my head around them. So you have:
The Dynamic thermo that automatically streams in sections of the level
The permanency tweaker which makes sure anything streamed in stays in the level
The Preloader which preloads anything required for the whole level (such as logic)
All these in conjunction will mean the space you can theoretically use in ONE level is in excess of 10 times bigger (if not much more).
It does make a huge difference. In experimenting, we found detailed sets that would not fit at all in one level was easily held. Then we started duplicating by 2 and 4 times as much and then replicated onto the extra layers. Didn't really make a dent. ...and yup, on a PS3.
I've just checked the emitter and it isn't what I thought it was. It has a new setting now called 'emit by zone' which I'm assuming allows for fine tuning of which sections on which layers you emit. Is the emitter getting the automatic emit/destroy that was on the Vita?
There also doesn't seem to be a method of emitting already captured objects. I'm assuming that will be added too?
On a separate note, I've managed to get some of my old DLC back, such as the Winter/Summer/Autumn pack MMs 1st music pack and Nathan Drake costume. I'm assuming I'll be able to keep those and won't have to find them all again when I finally buy the game. Please tell me I can because I spent 5 hours last night searching for any DLC available that I'd already got for LBP2
I find this level incredible... Anyone able to explain to me how its done? Im almost certain its top down because of the depth achieved, unless anyone can tell me otherwise.

Awesome! I would love to see what it looks like! I want to see the new tools and gadgets and the new characters from out of this world! I would say I like to participate please!
First, note this disclaimer stating I have no idea how they will do transfers. However, would it not make sense that it will be like the other games in that all DLC will be installed regardless if you own it? Essentially you would only be downloading small unlock codes.
Is DLC tied to your LBP profile, or to game data?
I remember in LBP2 you'd get all of your old DLC by importing your LBP1 profile. It'd be nice copying our PS3 profiles to the PS4 and not needing to download any codes from the PS Store.
