i was trying to think of a new hazard to go with fire, electricity and ice and this is the only thing i could think of xD
i was thinking fans that try to blow you into things, or make you hover if they blow you upwards.
Or make other objects like sponges blow away, push objects on string in a certain direction, it could make wheels turn etc..
and you could change the strength of the wind, or have it turn on/off with switches, that sort of stuff
would make some interesting levels and puzzles ^^
can't imagine it'd be easy for MM to pull off, but i'm sure it could be a possibility.
maybe for LBP2

i'm sure loads of people have thought of this, they just didn't bother posting it xD

It's already kind of in it but we just can't control it. Mm should let us control its direction and intensity.

It shouldn't actually be that complicated to make. When it comes down to it, wind could be just another kind of force (like gravity, which we already have) that has a different vector, strength and range. All MM would need to do is alter their physics calculation to include the force of wind and add the wind tool.

i tried making wind and the two ways that i thought of was:
1) having invisible rubber being emitted down a hallway. the only problem with that is that you'd have to jump over each individual piece.
2) attach glass or invisible rubber to a large spring/weak piston and have you push it to advance through the hallway. the only problem with this is that you'd have to hide the piston/springI'm not racist, I hate everyone equally.

actually it'd have to be more of a physical object unless we're talking wind affecting the entire level at onceIt shouldn't actually be that complicated to make. like say we had a windmill and the fan was only blowing on one part of it to make it spin, would it be possible to change the physics on just one part of an object?
i'm thinking instead having invisible objects pushing against the windmill instead, kind of like how it spins when you shoot it with the paintinator
might be difficult to create without causing lag though
if it worked like that it could be possible the have the wind bounce off surfaces slightly, and you'd be able to avoid the rush of air by putting an object in the way of it

i don't think that's actual wind, that's just an animation ^^
guess that's another problem, decorations like that would have to be made more dynamic. they'd look out of place if you had the wind blowing on one direction and the deco blowing the other way

Yes, it's fairly possible to apply a wind force only when an object is within a given area (which is what I meant when I mentioned range, kind of like the searchlight's cone of light, only it would be a cone of wind). The model I propose excludes complex interactions though. It would just push objects and Sackpeople within range in the defined direction with a set amount of force, ignoring any obstacles. I don't think we need a complex wind simulator which would simulate a realistic wind flow, that would be much too complex for our poor little LBP game engine.actually it'd have to be more of a physical object unless we're talking wind affecting the entire level at once

you could make a whole level suspended on a upward facing fan that would really look floating like....though i guess you can do that with pistons to but not as realistic looking.

I think the idea of a fan object, similar to the spotlight (from the original game, not the search light from MGS), is a really good one! Setting the distance and intensity are great tweaks. Also, being able to attach on/off and speed switches would make this a very useful contraption.
