Default The Level Showcase needs to be fixed

Great levels are being overlooked. There are new threads from unknown creators that get bumped to the second page before getting much responses, while there are months-old threads that are getting posts every day, just because the creators are well-known around the site, such as RangerZero or Wexfordian (with all due respect towards them, their levels are excellent). There has to be a way to set up the Level Showcase forum so that lesser-known creators can recieve feedback. The F4F system should help this situation, but as far as I can see, it's not doing so great a job.

After levels get to Page 2, the chances of people actually giving feedback is very slim.

I read as many of the level showcase posts as I can find. Doesn't matter what page it's on as I don't look at them by the newest posts. I usually read through the ones I haven't posted on yet. My Tron thread didn't get a post for almost two months but eventually someone posted on it. I don't think it's broken per se, I think members who don't want to miss a good level just need to dig a bit.

Well, to be honest, there's not much we can do about that. If you notice, most high-quality levels get quite a few responses, and the few that are overlooked are usually played by our Spotlight Crew and spotlighted, which earns them a ton of responses anyway. The best way to earn yourself some extra feedback is to post pictures and, if you can, a teaser video. People are much more inclined to try a level when they have an idea of what it's going to be about.

You've inspired me - I'm going to do a writeup for the Level Showcase about posting a level and maximizing replies.

In all honestly do you know what I am doing when I go an write feedback in the level showcase? I'm trying to look in the 3 first pages for levels in order to spot some levels that were receiving less feedback.

This and if you actually give detailed feedback, i'm always compelled to return it to you. There's alot of levels that won't receive as much feedback because the creator in question might not be active. I mean, even me i'm rushing to actually find time to let people some feedback so it's a duty to give it back when I receive some.

Of course leaving some message like "hey, I played your level and it's cool" won't get you knowwhere but if you take time to write up your impressions + at least some positive and negative points or suggestions, the author shall totally give you back feedback.

I'm also not returning feedback when I have to go on a hunt to find out if you have some levels in F4F. Have your F4F thread linked in your sig. (or should I say, I suggest you so.)

I would say that the showcase is..what you make it. Marketing levels is a lot of work but it pays in more ways than one. If I read a showcase thread and it has pictures, video and a good introduction from the author then I'm probably going to go play that level. If someone posts a showcase thread that looks the same as spam at the workshop, I'm probably going to wait until someone else has tried it out. That said..I play a ton of showcase levels and don't post feedback on them all. Someone should give Morgana25 a huge round of applause because she is a machine when it comes to the showcase and feedback. It would also be good for newer members to start making friends. That's what communities are about. There's a reason that better known authors get attention...because they're tried and true. We've earned the respect of our peers. Most of us here are creators, and creators spend most of our time in the editor and less time playing levels. I'm willing to bet I've played near a thousand user levels. So now days when I go play, I would prefer to play good stuff and I know a lot of people here that make it. I'm also very happy when my friends here send me a PM that they've launched something.

It is hard to keep your thread on the front page. There where times, when everyday so much was posted, that you found yourself on page 2 after half a day. And not that I want to whine around but the spotlight did not give me "tons of feedback" ok now I AM whining. Its all for the advertisement.

The best would be to save your answer-posts to the feedback you receive until the thread hits page two. Tactical posting if you want to say.
