Yes, I am fully confident that Sony Santa Monica can make God of War 3 an (ahem*) god among men, if they just take their time

I honestly think 2009 is too early for GoW3 (God of War, not GEARS of War), I think the opportune time to release it would be Q3/4 of 2010, right before the Holidays...

Besides, I'd say (in terms of games that aren't FPS'es) the PS3 is pretty far ahead of the Xbox this year in that respect, so it's not like God of War 3 is as much of a "saving grace" as numerous fanboys would like to believe

Hmm...that makes sense then. Yeah, I'd be fine with that. Especially since I haven't played any of them yet, I hope they go with the special edition pack with GoW1 and 2 on blu ray, whatever that means (all the cutscenes in hd, just a rip of the games, games upscaled, whatever).

Sony needs to focus on exclusives. Convincing someone to buy a PS3 over a 360 solely for the games is already difficult (though much less so now than ever), and to really hit the ground running they need to show what kinds of experiences are unique to the PS3.

Also, if they can simultaneously announce a price-drop ($100 would be perfect), I think they'll see a huge surge in sales.

Neither have I. I'm just turning fifteen and the only rated M games I have are Assassins Creed, Bioshock, and Metal Gear 4, plus the only reason I could get those was for the rave reviews. Stupid 'M' rating.

I think he means it costs them enough to make each PS3 in production and they're not making money from them so there won't be a price drop any time soon.

Umm...thanks for the advice Tom...but I don't have the time to play them and over the summer I'm gonna be holed up in my room building levels whenever I'm not at summer school...so I don't think so (not that I don't want to...)

Because it's capable of playing blu-ray discs AND playing games they have to keep it above the price of most stand-alone blu-ray players

And remember Sony produce their own standalone blu-ray players. If the ps3 is cheaper than those the blu-ray players won't sell

Actually this is a misconception that still wanders the internettes.

The diode for the BRDs drive and the BRDs cost sunk alot in the last year. Actually, there even is 199$ BRD drives sold in the market.

What's holding the PS3 price is more the rest of its hardware than the BRD drive itself. They need to simplify the motherboard, make it more efficient and reduce the size of the components.

But Microsoft is doing the same thing during that time so when Sony will drop in price, Microsoft will also be ready to match.
