My question would be - will using the existing PSP with a really large Memory stick Dual Pro have the same functionality?
If there's additional functionality I don't have now, I would probably upgrade so I could have both. But if there's no additional functionality, there would be no point.

I've already got a PSP1000 that rarely gets used so its really not worth
forking out a few hundred quid for a new model plus I hate digital distribution.

I have a nice (still shiny) phat, and I haven't got the newer ones, they're pointless IMO.
I'm definately getting the go though, but keepin my phat cos it's hacked and it still pwns.

so if I don't have a PSP and was thinking of getting one - would you guys recommend the new version or should I try to get an older model? Price isn't a problem if I really want it.

Well if price isn't a problem for you and you're fine with digital content only (no UMD) I would say go for the go! But that's just me...I would also wait until gaming sites post full reviews of the go as well...

Thanks!

hmmm, I love the result of this poll. I'm drooling at the idea that I might be right thinking it grossly represent what people generally think.

It's weird, I used to desperately want a PSP and before that a gameboy etc. and I know I would have got so much use out of it but never could afford it. Now I could easilly afford one, I can't think when I'd get it out to use, it just wouldn't fit in my life.
I guess I've completely missed out on mobile gaming now

I'm not really sure about upgrading or not. I still have a PSP 1000.
I'm quite skeptical about the fact you'll have to download games instead of buying them from a store. I think that has a lot of problems. Though I still haven't seen much at all of the PSP Go yet, so I'm undecided.

Already have a PSP but wont be getting PSP Go. Far too expensive! Just buy a 16GB card. I do like the fact that all new games will be on the store. I do prefer downloads to physical medium. For ease of use, no need to switch discs and it can never get scratched/break... you can just download it again if it gets corrupted or whatever

Anyway, I voted for already having one and not buying this... I only bought my 3000 a few weeks ago. I was worried about the 4000 being superior and stuff, but it seems like buying it now was good. I would like to play previous games without some strange process of conversion or whatever it is. If you can even play UMD titles at all.
This statement is true.

Pirate how? I'm just saying that buying a 16gb card will give you the same space as the internal memory of the PSP Go.
And just because I prefer downloaded to a physical medium doesnt mean I dont buy games. I download some to try them, if I like them I buy them. Usually end up ripping the ISO from the UMD anyway. I do pirate some GBA games tho...

I already have a PSP 1000, and I like digital media, but the PSP Go! is just too expensive. Right now, GAME have it on pre-order for £230! You can buy a 16GB iPod Touch here for £216, and that has a superior UI, controls, web browser and loads more apps on the app store.
Sony really needs to reduce the price of this, if it is to succeed.

I've decided i'll buy this IF the price is decreased - i need to be able to afford it!

Until then i'm fine using this ancient psp that i stole from my brother

The only difference besides the look is that you can't play UMD. That's all. Anyhow, you own the superior PSP imo.

Actually according to the GT PSP dev, the screen has better contrast and colour.

It's up for preorder at Game already.

It's more expensive than the previous models, but I have £70 of Game vouchers left over from christmas, and it's released a couple of weeks before my birthday so I'm not too bothered.
Roll on October!

OUCH!!! That is seriously overpriced. Well that made my decision a lot easier.

LBP PSP is this november pinkcars! Also, I read that they're working on something for people's umd collections, though details are scarce...
-

Yeah and monster hunter is next month, but i was scarce for examples, I know there are more.
I also heard that they're working on something for legacy umds.
My psp is currently hacked so I'll probably just use the GO for my legitimately acquired games
