The Descent by javi_haguse
Based on the horror movie "The Descent". You wake up and go look for your missing friends that have gone to a unexplored cave. But you'll never guess what you'll find inside. This level will freak you out! I put a lot of work into it, hope you like it.
I'm also working on part 2 at the moment. I'm willing to do 10 F4F

I just played your level and I must say the atmosphere and everything is just amazing! You perfectly captured the horror mood and atmosphere with the darkness, flashing lights, and erie sounds. Their is lots of detail as well. I like how you did the note
. It is already perfect the way it is so there is nothing I can suggest. I only wish it was longer. Also after you find the dead body on the light there is 3 speech bubbles. The 2nd one is censored for some reason just to let you know
I rated it

and hearted it

I played through this with you and was very impressed. The visuals are extremely well done and you've done a wonderful job at recreating the creepy tension from the film. I loved the night vision sequence!
The gameplay is solid, but I wish there was a bit more for the player to do and I wish it was a bit longer. Other than that, it's a visual treat oozing with atmosphere! Well done!
I've also been lucky enough to take a sneak peak at the second part and I can't wait to see the finished project. If you maintain the quality of the first, we're in for a treat!

Wow, this level had a great atmosphere. It was depressing that it ended so quickly. I don't really have any complaints, but I will tell you the two parts that made me heart this level:
+The note on the table that was emitted. That was brilliantly done. I would suggest setting the max emitted to greater than one, because I wanted to see it again!
+The night-vision flash with the alien/monster cutout. It was very well done...nice work.
The level was short, but it was full of goodness. Thank you for sharing, and I am looking forward to your next work.Mm Picks: Roller INC 2 | Wizard: Chapter 1 | LittleBigPrius

Ah, yes, the note! I can't believe I forgot to mention that. Probably one of the coolest parts of the level! Very well done!

Thanks a lot for the comments!!
I'm glad you guys liked it.
I know the level is short, but it was because I filled up the temperature to quickly. It was the way I was building the cavern, that I ended up with a ton of complicated shapes. But I've learned my lesson. So hopefully part 2 will be longer, scarier and with more gameplay.
Thanks again
I'll play your lv today comphermc

Hey there,
Just got around to playing this level.
First off i really liked the way you did the note (i've wanted to do something like that for a while) but you pulled it off to perfection, it really makes it seem like more of a roleplaying level, which is unique.
Generally the problems people found from above i didnt have any problem with so well done for fixing those.
I thought the atmosphere was great, night vision section was also unique and well done which worked very well together.
Nice use of GLS!
As i have already said the atmosphere was great, your use of silouetted monsters and scuttling was top notch.
Overall i gave the level

Definetly worth a play from anyone.

I actually didn't use the gls. It wasn't available at the moment I was building this level, so I did it the hard way.
Basically I used green spotlights all over, some that were foggy in the bg to give more depth.
The entire level was completely dark, so I had to light it that way. I was able to use the gls at the end, when you find the flashlight.

This levels looks awesome. The terrain is detailed and organic feeling, good use of layers, lighting and atmosphere. A good spooky feel to it - there's not alot going on, but like in the movie, I'm sure it'll pick up when the monsters make their appearance in part 2. Even without alot of action, the platforming was fun and well constructed.
The night vision section was sick... one of the coolest lighting effects I've seen in a long time.

This is awesome.
Great atmosphere, lights, style and use of the text, that is never boring or useless.
Really really well done,is clear how you put in a lot of attention also in the most little detail.
Night vision is the best part, but i've like many little things, like the dead sackboy or the notebox.
Only thing, for a slow rhythm/story level is a little bit short but was'nt your fault, the thermometer is a problem for all
I gived it

and wait the sequel

I actually need a little help with part 2..
I do want to have more action and gameplay in part 2, but as you've seen I like being as detailed as I can. I'm scared because I've never done monsters and I don't want them to be little monsters on wheels.... So you think I should include monsters?
And also, what kind of gameplay would you like to see? I have a few ideas already that are awesome (I think) but I want to know your input..
Can you guys help me??

Played through this tonight and really REALLY liked it. Fantastic lighting and atmosphere. Wonderfully rendered shapes in the cave. Gross you have to use the dead repelling guy but interesting. Genius = night vision goggles. Lighting as a plot point is really clever. Only complaint is there isn't more of it. You appear to have the same complex shapes thermo issues I run into. Pain in the tush I know.
5 stars & hearted!
For part two I'd really like to see more platforming/interactive stuff. Since it's a cave you could have a repelling section where we drop down. Cliff climbing of one sort or another. A dark area with obstacles much like the Darkness level in story mode where you have to position a light to see what your doing. Check out coyoteblue's ninja levels to see his grappling hook idea too - might be able to rework something similar for part of your next level.
Can't wait to see it!

Cool level, I enjoyed it a lot even without knowing the film.
I wait for part 2 since this one was too short

This level was sooo creepy...It was awesome!
This level had a great atmosphere, i loved playing it
It was really creepy, the part where you see the firgure in the night vision made me jump a little.
Awesome detail, i loved the landscape and the bridge was excellent.
Good mechanics, i like how the note pops up like it does in some video games (Whose names escape me right now)
I had to turn my gamma to the highest because it was really dark when you first walk out of the house though >.<
My only problem was that it was short and leaves you at the most suspenseful time. Seeing as you can fix that, build the sequel!
5/5 tag brilliant
My F4F level is Turrotolia, id appreciate it if you gave it a review
Im back?
