Digitized Reality: The Lab by steve_big_guns
Be the first participant to test the new prototype virtual reality system.
This is my first level show case so i hope im doing it right
The level starts in the media molecule laboratory. After entering the virtual reality program you get to enjoy media molecule intro themed platforming action. This has taken about 3 months to complete. I hope you enjoy it![]()

I was lucky enough to get an early look at this level about a month back. I'm really impressed with the things you've added since then. It's evident that you put a lot of time into this level, and it really shows in the quality of your work.
There's not any real challenge to the level (at least not until the final boss) - but that's not what this level is trying to be. It excels wonderfully at being a gorgeous looking level that runs flawlessly [for the most part]. You have an impeccable attention for detail, and it was a treat to see all that great sticker work. The ending was awesome, and it'll take another play-through to totally figure out all that was happening.
I really enjoyed the variety that you had going on in the level as well. The highlight for me was that little "chu chu" ride section. It was cute and brilliantly done.
That being said, I did have a few suggestions/criticisms/questions:
- I'm not a huge fan of the gas/teleportation. It's your style, so I'm not going to argue with it, but it did create problems for me at one point. At the end of the intro-style section [loading], I jumped right as the gas came, and I "ran out of lives". This leads me to believe that the checkpoint never emitted.
- During the final boss (which was crazy-awesome, by the way), I wasn't sure exactly what I was supposed to shoot. I got all the visible targets (I thought), but the two on the far right/left were having a hard time registering. I guess I can't be that mad because you had several varieties of player trackers going on at once that most people won't glance twice at.
- Well, I thought I had more, but I guess not.
Those two points notwithstanding, I had a blast. Apparently the rest of the lbp community did as well, as it has become pretty popular and will probably maintain that 5 star rating.
You got

and heart from me. Sadly, I couldn't find a fantastic tag, so I tagged it brilliant.

ive been having problems with emiters in this level. i used an emit an emiter on the trains so i could get 8 going at once at the cost of 1. by this also causes glitches on other emiters. i thought i solved this by destroying other emiters in the level to free up thermo whilw in play mode . ill look into this now.

It worked the second time, so it may have been a fluke. I'd wait to see if others report a similar problem.
Interesting idea to destroy emitters once they aren't needed anymore. Does it strictly affect lag issues, or does it help the thermo as well?Mm Picks: Roller INC 2 | Wizard: Chapter 1 | LittleBigPrius

doesnt effect lag but allows other emiters to work. if i didnt destroy them (placed them on dissolve) the other emiters would not work at all as the level overheats by about 25% at times. i used the emit an emiter technique on the neon backgrounds too.

thanks for the reply. you should land on the invisable glass slide that directs you to the scoreboard effect. did you go left when you landed as i forgot to block that part off (fixed now).

I'm definitely going to have to play this tomorrow.
About emitting an emitter - does that really work by tricking the thermo? If that's the case then that would be awesome - I can't fit any more score bubbles in my level.
Try my levels:
The Tribe (SPOTLIGHTED)
The Tribe: Part 2 (SPOTLIGHTED)

with this technique you can fill the level with bubbles at a cost of 1. only problem is if the level wax maxed out to start with you would have to destroy something after you have passed it for any emiter to function.

OK, so I played this today. (technically yesterday).
I think comphermc pretty much summed up my feelings about this level. Digital Reality is a very flashy, aesthetic, and visually stunning level. The level is a bit linear and the challenge is low, but the eye-candy more than makes up for it.
I gave it

and a heart.
