I wouldn't really call that OCD, more of just a strong appreciation for organization.
Personally, I like the volume on my television to be in multiples of 5. It's a bit strange, but I won't have an anxiety attack if it happens to be on a different number. I do know someone who would hyperventilate if the food on their plate touched other types of food on the plate though. That is a little OCD in my opinion.

aha. I dunno, we'll see soon enough, but as far as i can tell, i do have mid OCD....
As i said, no panic attacks/hyperventialation etc. but i go out of my way to make sure everything is lined up/evenly spaced/not crooked, and i have to check locks multiple times before leaving etc.

I too ask myself the same question. Like BSprague, if i'm changing the volume it has to be a multiple of three (being my lucky number), I do this when I tweak things in LBP too!
If I see a plug switch on - but no plug in the switch, I have to turn it off. I don't think this is at all abnormal though.

Let's see...I have to always have my volume on my stereo in home or in car at an odd number. When I set my alarm the minute needs to end with a 3 or 7. I traded in some of my PS3 games because the shelf that they are on is full and I have to buy Uncharted 2 and Rachet and Clank and they can't be on a separate shelf. When I lock up for the night, I check to see if the door is locked, then as i walk away, I go back and check again, and do this until I don't even know when...I guess when I can get to my room lol. I am sure there is more, but that's all I can think of right now. We all have some weird quirks...doesn't make you OCD though...or at least not OCD enough to worry about. Just enjoy your weirdness.

I think you do have OCD, and like has been said, it's mild OCD. I have a cousin who I think is very similar to what you describe. He is minor OCD but you wouldn't know it from how he acts until you see him eat
When he eats, he always makes his food super neat and spreads everything evenly and stuff like that.
But like has been said, it definitely sounds minor, and it's nothing you should be worried or feel self-conscious about. It's just a label and doesn't really mean anything.

Thanks!

For me, it has to be a factor of 64 - the max volume on my TV.Personally, I like the volume on my television to be in multiples of 5.
ir0nmaid3nfan, I think, like others have said, you just have mild OCD. Many people have given examples on what strong OCD really is like. As for me, I have mild OCD come in waves. Like I said, I have that volume thing, but every now and then I suddenly get a compulsion, like you do, but much less in the last couple of years.

I do the same thing! I mean, I don't really care, but I just like to have it a multiple of five.
I don't think OCD is something dealing with orginization. I think it's more like someone who has to count all the tiles on a tile floor and divide them by three just because. Someone who goes through weird rituals in the morning just because.

I'm pretty OCD. I got really angry at GH3 because I downloaded a Foo Fighters song and it was capitalized wrong.

In theory one is aware that the earth revolves, but in practice one does not perceive it, the ground upon which one treads seems not to move, and one can live undisturbed. So it is with Time in one's life. ~Marcel Proust, The Past Recaptured, 1927

I don't think you have OCD. You might have OCPD (Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder), which is often confused for OCD, but which is not the same thing.
Look it up, and good luck!My hands are cold!

Your OCD is making you think you have OCD, when in reality, you just have cancer.
Or you know. . OCD.

Yeah, except that OCPD people are wholly unaware that there's anything strange in their behavior. Blissfully unaware, it would seem - they are a much happier lot (even if actually, clinically more disturbed).

Do you make sure your cars (if you have one) cigarette lighter picture is perfectly horizontal or that your game discs pics are aligned so the top of the pic is towards the top of the case?

All i have to say from experience is to see a psychiatrist and/or a therapist, if you think it's not normal. Also they are very expensive and meds(to control the OCD).

I'd say that you probably have like a mild case or something. Iunno. I mean, you really could just like things to be a certain way, but that doesn't mean you absolutely have OCD, you know? Like, I like to have some things a certain way, but other stuff I don't care about. Like someone said the "make all the discs the right way up" thing or the "have the volume at a multiple of 5" thing. I do stuff like that, but I wouldn't consider myself OCD. I think the same could be said for you. I think.

So, like mild-to-moderate? I think that's the correct term. What're you gonna do about it?

I actually have no idea...
The guy said seeing as it hasn't affected me too much so far, i seem to be able to cope with it in school, so don't do anything yet, but if it gets worse, go back to him... He basically said it's mild-moderate as you say, but i seem to be able to not disrupt all my lessons... So see if it keeps getting worse or not. Apparently it can get worse if i've been under any stress recently, so that may be part of the reason i have noticed it more...

Most brilliant people aren't completely spotless up in the head.
I have ADD, as well as ALOT of the people I know here. Heck, RockSauron has Asperger's! (You said it yourself, Rock, please don't kill me :C). I'm the top brass in my class despite that.
In conclusion, don't think less of yourself because of this. I did, it took me literally two years to dig myself out of the trench of depression I'd dug myself into. Infact, think higher of yourself.
BTW, did you get my PM about the avatar? I'm starting to think I never sent it 0_OLast edited by Astrosimi; 09-30-2009 at 09:11 PM.
