Default Glass Jumping Challenge (average to expert)**PHOTOS INCLUDED**

Glass Jumping Challenge (average to expert)**PHOTOS INCLUDED** by h0tNstilettos
This is a 1 life glass jumping race/score challenge through 13 sections of increasing difficulty and various but simple visual schemes. It starts out average and reaches expert difficulty towards end. Good luck! ^_~

NOTE: I would of done F4F, but there's no garunteed I would have time to provide all the feedback.

This is my first unlocked published level. The **PHOTOS INCLUDED** in title is not part of the level title. Please don't rate it bad if it's too hard. It's suppose to get harder the farther you go in. But it's accessible to everyone from average players to expert. Beginners should avoid this level.

The description in black text above is the actual level description.

I made this level in one night just to have something playable until I publish my bigger stuff I've been working on for months. So don't expect anything too fancy. But even though this level is rushed, it is decent in my opinion for something that's just suppose to be a side thing. It's not great, but not horrible

It currently has 4 stars and good tags, and a couple hearts from 68 plays, as of time I'm typing this, which suprises me since it was a quick fix level.

The whole point of level is to try and score as high as you can. You don't have to finish race to submit score. Chain as many bubbles as possible. It might be a good idea to take your time the first time playing to see obstacles first, rather than rush your first time. Here are some pics . . .

wow, I have to say - a glass-platforming challenge does NOT sound like it's for the faint of heart! I wouldn't expect anything less from the creator of the "extreme platformists" group.

I'm quite intrigued to even see how far I'll get in this, so I'll definitely give it a whirl next time I'm on. I imagine my score will be somewhere toward the very bottom, but it looks and sounds absolutely diabolical, in a good way. Should be a riot in multiplayer!

    Yeah, thanks!

It was just a quick fix rushed level until I publish my good/bigger stuff. So far the level seems liked for the most part by people that have played, which I did not expect. I assumed I would have 1 star or 2, not 4 and good tags.

I tried to make this level more accessible to a wider audience of players by making it easier towards the beginning, but even then it is still tough. I avoided posting pics of the more extreme parts. I don't even think an expert will beat the level anytime soon, but it is possible. But the good thing is, winning goes as far as getting the high score, or maybe beating friends' scores, etc. Or just simply testing your ability to move on glass to improve your glass handling skills. The expert difficulty doesn't start emerging until section 8, then is fully emerged and sadistic by section 11.

If somehow a suprise is pulled on me and this level is liked by more than a few, I may work on a really good one (more details and higher visual quality), and easier one, once I'm done with my bigger projects. But if I did that, it won't be rushed as I would work for a spotlight quality version as one of my main levels.

I don't think she any levels that show up in the LBP search (it being broken and all). She may have to start commenting on others levels to get some attention.

I went searching for it today and came up with nothing as well.

    Yes, I searched your name...

    h0tnstilettos. (the lowercase "n" shouldn't matter)

I even double checked with your listed PSN here. Still nothing. Does it work for you? I didn't try searching by level name as it'd be futile.

Give any of my levels a comment and I'll check it out.

Okay, I'll leave a comment on everyone's level next time I'm on.

    EDIT: Okay, I left a comment in Radical's She's A Rainbow, and comphermc's Aperture Science part 1.

Just played this, and it is quite diabolical - I want to see what comes next though! I was able to worm my way as high as level 8, but couldn't get farther on any other attempts.

I felt a TEENSY bit jipped on my level-8 death - the little rocket-glass platforms are spread out, and you're jumping downward - and at one point the camera only sees one, and it's really far away. I didn't think I could make it, but I leapt for it anyway - dying of course - and then saw on my way to my electricky death that there was indeed a closer one, but it was off-camera below me, so I had no idea it was there.

Aside from that, I found everything I played through difficult, but more than fair.

Lol, that jump is possible. I know it seems cheap, but it's not cheap as long as the jumps that are visible is possible. What the one below is for is if it's your first time playing and you fail the long jump, then you'll notice the platform below for next time. So then you have the option of trying your luck from the platform below, which is just as hard as it requires a super jump since no normal jump will get you high enough to reach next platform. So even though the one below makes the distance shorter, it requires more heigth.

You did good though, no one but myself has passed section 8 yet, so u haven't done any worse than the other players, except that you chaining wasn't as great. Willtang who is in 1st 104k, got his score chaining as much as possible up to section 8. So everything you went through is where he got that score. I still can't figure out how he did it, lol.

Thank you for playing though. ^_^

I'm suprised there are people still willing to try it even though I mention it not being great since it was a quickly made side level until my main levels start coming.

But so far most like everything up to section 8. I didn't plan this, but once some of my main stuff is out, I could make a better one, a main one, and make the whole thing possible for momentum and chaining and easier as a whole than current, and go all out on details (since current doesn't even use half a thermo). Does this sound like a good idea? I might go for a spotlight with a high quality version that is accessible to everyone and not go too high on difficulty, and really try to make this one visually something to behold, lol.

I'm back to work today as I'm feeling better, but I'm working very late. But I dying to try this out and will play it tonight

    Looks nice visually to me
(I'm actually making a REALLY HARD race level atm and I haven't bothered trying to make it nice visually and just stayed to a very basic theme...)
So yours looks lovely to me

I'm gonna try my best but I'm much better at perseverance at doing really hard sections than chaining scores together....

I think that's a great idea - The great thing about short levels and survival challenges is that you have a huge thermometer for decorations and detailing. I'd love to see a version of this all spruced up with a spit-polish.

And I think the difficulty-ramping is great - I think you should still keep the later levels abnormally difficult, make it ridiculously hard to get all the way to the end. As long as it's survival-challenge style, with any death still netting the player a scoreboard finish, you're in business.

I love the fact that each segment has its own look. Obviously here it's just kind of the "idea" of that, not totally fleshed out yet - but with more time and lots more detailing and decorationg, it could be really really cool. If you wanted, each "level" could have its own unique visual theme, like one segment being clouds, one being household crap (jumping across glasses on a dinner table for example, or ice cubes in a cup, or the platforms could be appliances like toasters and blenders), one level could be an icy cave, etc etc. I know if it looked really good and each level was very distinct from the last, I personally would be EXTREMELY compelled to keep playing, just to see what the next area has in store.

Ok, so I'm going to give some feedback as I play.

Found something that should be fixed allready,
when grabbing the sponge thing you only see the top score + some of the last letters of the peoples usernames.

The first 6 diffculties I didn't strugge at all, and didn't find it challenging.

At 7 the arrow actually fooled me to avoid using the shortcut the first time :P

At 8 I belive i failed because I thought I had to do a long jump, but it was a platform below out of camera view, maybe you should fix that?

I love that you can actually score big by doing a good combo, I'm currently in 3rd place failing at 8th.

    Bah.

After failing several times at 8 i decide to quit

Good level, but could have been desined a bit better.

OK, let me get this out of the way - the absolute hardest part of the level for me, even harder than level 8, is the end of the slide that ends just under the number 2. The speed you go down it varies so much that it is nigh on impossible to get the timing right every time - you either leave it too late, and hit the electric at the bottom, jump to early and miss the first two platforms, the speed your going at causes issues and you can't jump at all, or the bounciness of the journey lands you in the electricity between the last 2 pieces of slide. All of these happened way more often than actually hitting it right. I was then fine up to maybe section 5, where I had one or two problems with the oval shapes, then I was fine until 8, of course. So yeah, 8 is hard, but the end of 1 is WAY harder.

P.S., I'm gonna keep trying this I made it to about 60k, but didn't save my score D:

  23. Thanks!

Has anyone got passed 8 yet?????

That's strange about the sponge thing. I never have that problem, nor do many others, although I'm sure you're not the only one. I'll look into it and ask some people I know to see if they have a problem seeing it.

As for the first 6 sections, that's because the level is suppose to start out easy, lol.

And the arrow at 7 is two arrows, one pointing left, and one inside the other pointing right, therefor telling you you can go either way, but if the player wants a higher score, then they should go up instead of right. But the general idea in the first place was that since it's a shortcut, the player should discover that on their own, but in the end I ended up adding a right arrow in the left one, thus ruining the point of a shortcut being discoverable.

As for failing at 8, that's where the game plan changes and distance will get you a higher score, not chains. And about the seemingly cheap jump, read my reply to Teebonesy about that before your post about it. It'll provide some insight.

Oh, and congrats on 3rd place.

That's a matter of skill. Myself and many others can slide down and make the jump every time with not even the slightest bit of a problem, while not everyone will. And no, not all of those players where expert, actually only few were experts. That slide part is far from impossible. And the way you land on the slide and slide down doesn't even have to be perfect to do it right. You just have to do a light jump on the very last slide piece, which will put you on the first level platform of the steps and you slide right into the second step thus stopping you, but if you jump too high you'll land on the second step and slide right off into electricity. A light jump is the smallest jump you can do, barely jumping at all. So none of the problems has to do with a problem with the level, that's just determined by the player's skill level. ^_^

In my uploaded photos on the level you'll notice a photo of a section that's after 8. I made it to section 9 more than once.

I reloaded the level, and got about a 98% success rate, I don't know why but it changed when I reloaded the level O_O Anywho, I'm now 5th with 76k, but I think, aside from making me realise I need to get psychological help, possibly damaging my controller in frustration, and annoying the hell out of me in a good way, this level serves to highlight issues with the jumping system. At times, the sackboy collision detection is so bad that jumps don't work etc., causing huge problems. There's also a lot of layer changing issues, especially in Section 8. And I don't see exploitation of a slightly random "super jump" glitch as an aspect of skill. I have not been able to complete the jump from either the upper or lower rocket in Section 8, after about 15 attempts. Oh well.

  29. Thanks!
