Default Sack, The legendary - Intro level

Sack, The legendary - Level: 1 of 13 by Luos_Desruc
Full title: Sack, The legendary - Level 1 of 13

"Sack, The legendary"
Is a revamp of my old "Tales of a legendary Sack" and will bring you to a world where sackpeople havent been seen for thousands of years.
Ever since the sackpeople left this world, an evil force has taken over and will do anything to stop your sackperson from stopping him.
You will find allies that will aid you towards your final goal, but you will also face tough trials, scary monsters.. and maybe.. even your destiny!

(1 player story)

Some of you might remember the "Tales of a legendary sack" I created a year ago, some of you might also remember that I went away.
But the black sheep of the family has returned and just finished his first level.

This is an introductional level to my new revamped "Tales of a legendary sack"

Pictures obviously say more than words:

Me and a friend have beta-tested it over and over, and there shouldnt be any problems!
kmills11 & TehUberZac also helped me to test the level to make it a little more 2 player-proof.
If you do find any problems, let me know and I'll be sure to fix them.

one suggestion though..
Take your time to read!

For the whole project,

As for the F4F,
I am a busy man so Ill try to do at least three F4F's,
If time allows it I'll raise the bar to five F4F's.
I hope thats okay.
Level's I have F4F'ed:
Voilent awakening - No rating, needs work, but has a lot of potential.
Wild adventures in the woods - 5 stars and a heart.
Silver knight gothic - 3 hearts.
Bugs/fixlist
Todo:
Lower fog a little ittle bit in first room.
Add camera in last part to "hide" switches in sky.
Enjoy!
Any comments, reviews and head-up's for problems in-game are appreciated!

Hey, here responding to your F4F.

I'll start off by saying that the visuals, in all areas, were beautiful. The interactivity of the environment (Stones falling over, etc) was a very nice touch. The cave at the beginning of the level has a nice, ancient and abandoned feel to it, like you're the first person who's been there in quite some time. It really adds to the whole "Only sackboy" theme. My only problem with it was that when the camera zoomed out, the heavy fog was kind of ugly, and made it hard to see. Next, the transition from the cave to outside was stunning. Nicely decorated all around. Amber was a charming character, not too annoying or cheesy, but actually kind of enjoyable.

Then we get to the actual platforming. What little of it there was was great. The first segment (Jumping over the gas on the moving platforms) wasn't the most unique or original section, but it works. No problems here. The next section (Jumping over the fire) was much more creative and tricky. You have to time the jumps just right, or else you'll hit the big block that comes down from the ceiling. Nice difficulty here, although some less patient players might get discouraged.

As a standalone level, this doesn't have any problems or flaws, it just doesn't have enough of the stuff that makes it great. Gimme more!

Now, as part of a series, I'm sure this will do well. Because it does leave the player wanting more, and they'll be very likely to continue on to the next level.

I gave it 4 stars, hearted, and tagged with "Great". Keep up the good work, can't wait for the next one.

3. Thanks!

Wow! this is definitely one of the most visually impressive levels I've seen in the game. Every scene has just the right kinds of details and ambiance, and the fire ant is a very nice character.

The gameplay elements involved were very interesting, but overall this level had a lot more story than gameplay, which I suppose makes sense if it's meant to be an intro to a series.

When push comes to shove, 4 stars and hearted

Thanks you two,
I will make sure that the gameplay gets better/harder as level proceeds.

Ive been working on an improved storyline, and chances are that his will be a 9-level series.

You have seen Amber the Fire-ant, Now I need to re-create sackerpiller and have to come up with names and designs for two more insects. (Fly/spider).
Also need to create a few scary monster.

I got my work cut out for me.

Hiya
I realise you are using the magic mouth to make the camera move, but having the mouth say the same thing as the electric graphic is very odd.

Loved the collapsing pillars and spotlighting - very effective. The 'tricky' to reach points bubbles are good too, I went clambering for a quite a few.

Plotline works well although I'm not sure what kind of creature the red thing is. I was just about the comment that the redthing talks too much, but then he made a joke about it-funny!

The patterns on the walls after the first switch looks really good. Combined with the flames it reminds me of an old Zelda level. The timings on the firey jumps are evil! ...but I like it.

ahhhh - its an ant! And one very pretty sequence later and its all over. Great level but I felt it was just getting started when it stopped. I'll definately play the sequel when it comes out, but I do think this could have had a few more rooms. I liked the redant dialogue a lot (and normally speech annoys me) - well done. 4 stars from me - would have been 5 if it was double the length - hows your thermo?

Please could you F4F the level in my sig please

The thermo is totally full,
I have been rusty and that took probably 25% of the thermo
Dont worry, as you can see on Link I got mayor plans for this.

as for the magic-mouths, just having them say "...." would also be quite anoying.. Ill think about it!

I will check out your level asap!

thank you for the four stars!
The stickers are form a sticker-pack I bought trough the lbp-shop.

the avatar comes from "Kung Pow" a cult-movie about "the chosen one".
steve oelekerk used two old japanese movies and a blue-screen to create it.
its the funniest movie I have ever seen, and seen it over 30 times allready.
"the chosen one" is carrying gopher-chuck's to defeat one of his enemies.

Good level! I will surely continue to play this series since i've been pretty pleased here. I'm happy to see a good creator coming back!

Pros:

-Nice visuals
-The bugs is awesome and funny
-"17 days later" lol

Bugs:

- I got out of your level boundaries there by carefully climb-grab the tree and then escalate the rocks.

I don't have much cons for this level really. I suppose it could be better visually, many levels do -- mine included. But really I was satisfied by the looks you created. The moving platforms (up/down) were very tight. Some people might think it's hard or cheap. Here again, I speak for the general LBP audience because personally I did not have a problem. I'm not a fan of custom cams but it didn't annoy me particularly here.

Keep up the good work. I will clearly play the second one now.

+ heart

16. Thanks!
