Project "Legendary" w.i.p.
In this thread I will reveal and update information on my "Legendary" project.
The first (intro) level was released a few days ago, -Link-
And was named "Sack, The legendary"

1.1 Basic story
[spoiler]Project "Legendary" will bring you to a world where sackpeople havent been seen for thousands of years.
Ever since the sackpeople left this world, an evil force has taken over and will do anything to stop your sackperson from gtting in its way.
You will find allies that will aid you towards your final goal, but you will also face tough trials, scary monsters.. and maybe.. even your destiny![/spoiler]
1.2 Story

The dreamplanet Ignora florished when the first earthly cavepeople dreamt about their cavesack's roaming the planet.
they fertilized the planet with dreams, hope, love and light..
Four civilizations/races flourished because of the sackpeople their influences.. but one civilization got forced into the darkness..
Because where there is light.. there must also be shadows.
The "Morbids" as the other four races called them have a huge affinity for causing problems, having no respect for the living nor the sackpeople.
Knowing that destroying the sackpeople would result in worldwide chaos, despair and fear they did everything in their power to find out how to stop the sackpeople from entering the world of Ignora.
centuries passed by and the "Morbids" where unable to find a way to stop the sackpeople and where on the brink of admitting defeat when the universe apparently had different plans and caused a phenomenon that would only happen once every 200.000 years.
Ignora had a sisterplanet called Desperia and once every 200.000 years Desperia would "borrow" the moon from Ignoria for several thousands of years.
(average estimate of 200.000 done by sack-scientists back in the days)
This "Borrowing" of Ignoria's moon resulted in peer2peer problems with the sack-pod's and sackpeople have not been able to get to Ignoria for thousands of years...
Obviously the "Morbids" took full advantage of this natural phenomenon and started their war against everything nice, loveable and light.[/spoiler]
1.3 Races
[spoiler]
The Morbids:
Nightmare-ish looking fiends that only care for chaos, despair and destroying everything that is touched by the light.
"Enslaving" other races and infecting them with the "Darkness" the Morbids live in.
The Sackapillars:
Huge caterpillar like creatures that love to roam around in dirt/earth/caves and are naturally very friendly.
Obviously sackapillars evolve into some kind of butterfly, but that hasnt happened ever since the planet Desperia "Borrowed" Ignoria's moon.
The Ants of Fire:
If you have played the intro, you have allready met "Amber the Fire-ant"
Giant Cave/Hive creating insects ruled by one queen, They seem to know more about the Sackpeople from the past than any other race.. And they tend to talk more than any other race.
The Wickers:
Giant (scary?) Spider-like creatures that love to wicker amazing webs in the giant treetops, they tend to be very agitated and therefore do not really like contact with other races or sackboys.
The Skyriders:
These fly/bee-like creatures are very anxious and try to avoid confrontation at all costs.. probably because they have been the biggest victim to the Morbids, using the skyriders for their amazing flying abilities.
They now tend to "Hide" at the big landfill feasting on all that is dirty.
The Wickers tend to catch flies in their web's because they seem to taste like dark matter material.[/spoiler]
2.1 Level Setup
[spoiler]When I started this revamp I thought I would go for 6 levels, but after writing down the story and some other things I want to do in the levels I am now up to 13 levels.
Yes.. 13.. I hope I wont lose interest untill I am done.
* Intro - Temple-cave-mountain - the Ants. (done)
* The forest-village - woods/nature/village - the Wickers.
* The lands of Filth - Landfill/dirt/sewers - the Skyriders.
* The mountains - Cave-mountain - the Sackapillars.
* The Vulcano - Lava/fire based cave/mountain - the Skyriders.
* Hive of the Fire-ants - Hive-based cave - the Ants.
* The sackapiller mines - Cave-mine system - the Sackapillars.
* The first Temple - woods themed temple - Sack only.
* Arachne-forest - Tree/wood - the wickers.
* The Ant-Wars - Ant-hive based cave - the Ants.
* The temple of understanding - Ancient temple - Ants, Sackapillar, Skyriders and Wickers.
* Teamwork to the sky - Yet to think this trough - Ants, Sackapillar, Skyriders and Wickers.
* The final battle - Jeff must be defeated - Ants, Sackapillar, Skyriders and Wickers.
(Yes.. I want the evil guy to be named Jeff.. Ill explain later)

2.2 things that need to be done prior to creating the levels
[spoiler]* create all creatures/monsters. (and must cost the max. minimum of thermo)
* come up with names for the Sackapillar, Wicker and Skyrider main characters. (maybe let the people on lbp-central decide)
* Draw down puzzles/parts of levels/obstacles/visual concepts.
* work out kinks in story vs level-capacity.[/spoiler]
2.3 Inspiration & concepts
This section will be about stuff that inspired me, and the concept-work I drawed for these levels/story.
2.3.1 Ants

3.1 Names
Name for the Fireant main char: Amber
Name for the Fireant Main char: Ember (Amber's brother)
Name for the Fireant queen: Unknown, suggestions are welcome.
Name for the Wicker main char: Sackatulla
Name for the Skyrider main char: Stephen Fly. (Lbp narrator)
Name for the Skyrider bee-queen: Vera Bee (from the sticker pack)
Name for the Sackapillar main char: Jack Sackapillar
Name for the Old Sackapillar: Mono
Name for the evil boss/Morbid leader: Jeff
Name for the evil bos's pets: Blerggh (Morbid fire-ant) & Blarggh (big Morbid)
4.1 The story per level
4.1.1 Intro Level(Level 1 - 13)
[spoiler]"Sack" is the first sackperson to ever set foot on Ignoria after a few thousand of years have passed by,
Its "Peer2Peer" connection (depending on poll) is still not very stable making it hard for him to talk to Amber.
Amber got stuck a few days prior to Sack's appearance and the discovery of a sackboy was a surprising one.
Sack could not only give him his freedom back, but this might also mean that the legend of the ancient sackpeople was true...
Sack atm still has no clue...[/spoiler]
Why I created it
[spoiler]I created this level to try out the new lbp stuff that came out last year and really had the feeling I should redo my "Legendary sack" story.
I was really rusty and it shows on the thermo.
So next time I really have to pay better attention to the amounth of materials used.
Also my logic/switches where totally outdated so from now on I am using the LBPCentral logic-pack ones (Altered when needed).[/spoiler]

4.1.2 Forgotten Forest (Level 2-13)
[spoiler]Sack finally made it out of the cave thanks to Amber the FireAnt and gets caught by Sackatulla, a giant Wicker(spider) who realizes that he caught a sackboy and brings him to the forgotten forest where some of the wickers took refuge and in memory of the villagers who lived there in the past.
Who knows.. Maybe someone still lives in the old abandoned houses?

4.1.3 Land of Filth (Level 3-13)
[spoiler]Sack made it trough the Forgotten Forest and Freed a fly-like creature that got caught by one of the wickers webs. apparently the critter was in a hurry because he was gone before Sack could have said "The waterpack will be out tomorrow!!".
Sackatulla warned Sack for the "Land of Filth" because it from here on forward.. things wouldnt get a lot more dangerous.
The "Land of Filth" is occupied by the Skyriders that roam the filth for food and therefore an easy prey for the Morbids..
Sack will have to fight the Morbids and free the Skyriders...[/spoiler]

4.1.4 Mangrove mountain (Level 4-13)
[spoiler]With some help from the resqued Skyriders Sack was able to get to the Mangrove Mountains.. still not knowing why he is on Ignoria and what his goal is..
Sack will be aided by the Caterpillars roaming these mountains filled with mangrove-like caves and possible some creatures he should fear...
This might also be Sack's first encounter with Blarrggh... The biggest of the Morbids.

A mangrove is usually on water-level so combining that with a Mountain might not be the usual thing to do.. I actually just came up with it.
But I like to push my own boundaries..

4.1.5 Vera Bee Swamp (Level 5-1-13)
[spoiler]Luckily for Sack, the bridge broke and he was able to get away from Blarghh.
He teamed up with amber again but that as short-lived as Amber got captured by the Morbids.
Sack has a lot of luck though as Stephen Fly takes Sack away to the base of Vera Bee's Hyve where he needs to warn Vera Bee for the awakening of Blarggh..

4.1.6 Vera Bee hyve (Level 5-2-13)
[spoiler]Sack made his way trough the Hive and met Vera Bee,
Being interrupted by Stephen Fly who found the whereabouts of Amber and also noticed that the Morbids are on the move towards the Fire-Ant Kingdom..
The Morbid wars are once more..
Vera Bee asked Sack to try and rescue Amber while they try to warn the FireAnts.
Sack is not sure if he is able to find and rescue Amber.. But he is willing to try and heads off to the Forsaken Mines.. but a big Morbid Flower monster is blocking his way...

4.1.7 Forsaken Mines (Level 6-1-13)
[spoiler]The further Sack ventures in the Forsaken mines.. the warmer it will get as this old mining village has been rendered defenceless against the time that has gone by..
Vulcano's have erupted.. buildings are damaged and it will be hard for Sack to venture deep into these mines.
Luckily Sack will find an old Mining-Breed Sackapillar called Mono, who should be able to help him reach the forsaken depths of this Forsaken Mine.

Mine-Cave like enviroment with occasional lava.

By 'Sack' I assume you mean the player? If not, then I'd vote it's okay to talk. My reasoning is, Sackboy is meant to be the player's avatar within the game, so making him say things is like somebody putting words in your mouth; which is never a pleasant experience
It's okay in most games as the player takes the role of a pre-defined personality, but in LBP the player is tasked with creating their Sackperson's personality, thus making it 'theirs'.
However, if you are referring to other sack people, I think it is okay for them to talk because they represent their own personalities and not the player.
If you need to communicate that the player's Sackboy has a desire or something to say, then you can do this through suggestion via other character's dialogue. E.g. "Oh, you look cold. Perhaps you should look for a nice warm place somewhere?" opposed to "I feel cold, I hope there is a nice warm place somewhere near".
You can also use 'invisible' dialogue from Sackboy, where other characters respond to something that Sackboy never said. "What's that? You're lost?"

what you said makes sense,
I am adding one quite long dialog between a wicker and "sack" (your sackperson)
Its about as long as all talking done in the prev. intro-level.
To make up for it I am trying to get as much gameplay into the level as possible.
Especially when playing the intro level, the somewhat longer conversation makes sence, and I am sure people will give their two cents about it.

Wow!...It looks like you have put in a lot of thought and hardwork into this quite large 13 level series.
You know if you need anything like I dont know maybe play testing or anything else you would need help on I would be glad to help you, because well im not working on anything and I have plenty of free time. I'm also pretty good with logic.
So if you need help or anything just PM or something.

It will be mostly about testing though, my logic isnt up to date when it comes to being optimal but I find it a lot of fun to try and make things as optimal as possible.
