By intention, I'm pretty sure they have no intention of splitting the community, yes.
My main concern, as I noted - although I may still be unjustified in this concern - is that they will "revamp" the mechanics enough that levels based on old, particular interactions will no longer function properly. IE - Accidental non-compatability.
Some things I'm depending on still being able to do ...
Emit dark-matter that has been glitched into looking like another partially-transparent material into the background despite another object being in the background even farther back in the same location due to darkmatter's ability to overlap itself through emission.
Cross-level sticker compatability. IE - Sticker A and B being recognized as the same sticker in different levels, something that I'm wondering how the coding will handle transfering information (if this is the method used) between one game platform and the next.
The ability to have stickers track across background-glitched invisible gas at the Z-axis level of the closest edge of that gas as opposed to through it.
The continual existence of material that has been "ghosted" with a now-patched glitched.
This is some of the stuff that I'd be concerned about being "accidentally obsoleted" through this release. I maybe slightly jaded though because my favorite game developer (Bioware) created an expansion (which was otherwise excellent) recently that had a huge failure of compatability in the avenue that is what they excell at most (cross-game continuity). IE, in the games industry, I've seen the best fail on the very thing they do best before.
Releasing a LBP 2 with the exact same engine and full compatability would be a great thing. Trying to do actual full-compatability though between an old engine and a "revamped" engine - that would seem difficult, at the very least.

May sound stupid but makes a point.
I mean nothing has even been said on whether "2" is the actual name nor whether it's an actual true sequel.
This is why I hate rumours, as it all turns into speculation over what is essentially nothing, as that's all we know - nothing.I be on the Twitter: @LittleBigNim

Guys, just because they make a sequel will not make the first obsolete... seriously.

They haven't even announced anything yet. Video games don't just appear one day on the shelves. There's months and months (perhaps even yearS) of announcements, beta keys, marketing campaigns, teasers, trailers and release dates that haven't even been hinted at yet. You're worrying for naught, my friend. IF it's going to be made, and IF they're even close to being done with it (two very big IFs) it's not going to appear on the store shelves any time soon.
Levels
LBP2 My Music
LBP1 Journey to the Temple - Part I
Note: I am not as active as I once was in LBP2, but will be available here and on PSN if you'd like to reach out!

I just hope they are really bringing lbp2 to the next level.
mario64/zelda OoT gameplay anyone? (yes I am assuming they will make lbp2 a 4d game.
(3d is non moving 3d objects, while 4d is moving 3d objects on a timeline)
So 3th person view over the shoulder of sackboy to play new grand adventures.
I know.. its a little much to ask.. but that would be the next level.. a daring next level.. but one that if excecuted propperly could become the thing of the future.
That, and full keyboard functions in the editor (Ctrl + m = material editor for instance).
3D gameplay is bad for LBP for the sole reason that create mode in 3D would be a HUGE headache. The quality of levels would drop off a cliff.

they might have a template like how modnation does its track creator....i dont think it would be that hard....just more time consuming then before....but you're right i doubt itll be in 3D...unless by 3D you mean our extra layers....
but LBP in 3D could be awesome....have an object creator to create your objects...and then the level creator where you could add them and adjust things....actually im on board for an LBP in 3D....and also a way to change sackboys mass so he can have muscles or fat or be skinny and such....but yeah LBP2 in 3D would be a nice idea...would love to have a whole platformer...and with online create already in it....it would make collabs happen more often....
as a matter of fact....i hope LBP2 can have side-scroller platforming like we have now....and then make 3D levels too...and have them in seperate planets or something...would be great fun
would be awesome to have different planets that changed the gameplay of LBP (side-scroller planet ((aka regular LBP)), 3D planet ((LBP2)), Fighting Game planet ((would be a side scroller of course but controls change to make sackboy kick, punch, jump, taunt, melee weapon, etc.))
anyways sounds like a good idea for LBP2 to have 3D levels....provided they make a separate planet that plays the old ones too

Now what would be an AWESOME fit for LBP2 is Ronald Jenkees. For sure.

A free translator translates this to "we go to London to see and to play in novelty the expected LBP2"

So does my brain. ^-^
PS: I would like to have some more substantial rumours that are worth making blog posts about, please. This is boring.Last edited by Syroc; 04-27-2010 at 03:28 PM.

Living in Spain as I do, I could easily buy the magazine when it comes out next month (HOBBY consolas is pretty well known) and scan the article for the community.
But I'll only do so if I recieve 100 author hearts! Ha! (not the real ones, please, those are pretty disgusting, and the neighbours would suspect something if they were to see me carrying human hearts)My F4F level: Lafarge's Request (Spotlighted and also MM PICK!!)
