I will never play LBP1 again! I worked like 5-6 hours on one of my levels and I only had to add a few magic mouths so I saved my level (I did that many times within that 5-6 hours) and left the game so I could change the language to english because I didn't know the english names for some cloths I needed to mention on the speechbubbles. However, I tried to leave the game but then the PS3 had to restart for any reason and when I came back to my level everything I did has gone!!! I spend the afternoon and the evening working on my level and did alot of really cools stuff and I was even just about to publish it and then the game deleted it all!!! I didn't even get a message that my pop-it is full or something it just deleted all my work!!! I've had enough!!!!!! I don't know when LBP2 will be released but I don't wast time on LBP1 anymore! I had many cool levels in the making like my RE1 mansion, a very detailed Dantes Inferno level with a costume, an alien level, a Silent Hill level, my submarine level and a few others I almost finished but it's the last time I waste hours of my life for nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's terrible that this happened to you, and I'm very sorry. This is why I back up my levels by putting them on the world map as published and locked and by exporting the level and saving it to a thumb drive. I lost two hours of my crystal cave level and that was enough to make me do this all the time.

Sucks when this happens I know. I've taken to backing up my level every few hours using the in game backup option. I also back up my profile every couple of days to avoid loosing stuff forever. It's saved me more than once. Hope you cool down but I understand your frustration.

Unfortunately I forgot about doing that because I was so happy to finaly publish something new. I doubt that I will continue with LBP though. Last time that happened because my pop-it was full and I didn't knew that it won't save anymore I stoped playing it for like half a year and now I'm even more ******. I hope we don't have to wait too long for LBP2 so I can hopefully make levels without such ridiculous problems.

Sorry to hear that Chrree. Its happened to me too, 4 hours of work i done and i pressed back up and my ps3 froze and i lost it all. Its really upsetting so i know how you feel. I now publish any work i have done on a new level locked on my community moon to make sure its extra safe. Try and work on it again when you have calmed down and it might turn out better then before as you know what you are doing

It's probably safe to say that almost everyone around here understands your frustration, most of us have been there and thank god the game is less buggy than it used to be. Not that that makes any difference to you at the moment chrree, I'm sure. The only positive I can put on this for you is that 95% of the time, if you do something again, it's better and quicker. So if you do cool off and decide to come back, there is always that as a slight silver lining.
On a side note, it's highly unlikely that LBP2 will fix the issue of data loss. Sorry to put a bit of a downer on this, but that is an inherent problem with computer systems, so the possibility will still be there

My reccomedation, and please do try this.
Try and rebuild the level, why?
BElieve me, i know right now that's the last thing on your mind, but trust me, me along with many others have lost howrs, even days full of level creating for stuff like that, but whenever this happens, rebuilding the level no only does it place us back on the game, the level usually turns out waaay better than it used to as now you know what you're doing, no to mention it will be a lot faster to build too.
So please, at least give it a try, yes?

Sorry to hear that, but I have seen and recovered from far worse issues. Basically working in LBP is just like working on a pc. If you are being smart and safe, you save often and create a backup as you just never know what issues may come up.
In the meantime, maybe you should look into anger management. You might live longer.(aka jww) - Published Levels

The problem is that I hardly can motivate myself to work on my levels and when I have to do stuff again I have no motivation left anymore. What even bugs me more is that my level was ready to get published! Most of the stuff I did was detailed stuff that always takes long so Im sure it will take me at least 4 hours if I do it again.
Let's hope not! That is what I hate about LBP the most!On a side note, it's highly unlikely that LBP2 will fix the issue of data loss.
I don't know. Well let's wait a few months and maybe I will have changed my mind.So please, at least give it a try, yes?

I'm just very frustrated about alot of things. I don't think that is necessary.
Does anyone know the release date of LBP2?

aw that sucks
but its happened to all of us even multiple times on greater scales D: Trust me building it a second time opens up room for improvement
and its much faster. Some people even discard there first try purposely because they know the second will be worth it

Well.. I'm sorry for suggesting that, but the thread title as well as the first sentence speaks volumes along with how many times I have seen you lash out at others for something as simple as adding a bit of humor. So just ignore me, but hope you rethink all this and get back on the horse that tossed you. LBP can be a horribly frustrating game at times and it really is meant to be fun. If it isn't then maybe you do need a long break.
Good luck!

I think it is because you changed your system's language to English. Sometimes that confuses the game. Remember the game only saves your level to RAM when you click "Save Level" and RAM data is lost when the system shuts down. To save your level to the HDD, leave to the pod.

that sucks... You need to return to the pod regularly because that's the only time it saves for real. I really hope that they add autosave to lbp2... Or both.
EDIT: oh, everything got deleted?!?! Wow, that really sucks. *Cough*play my copyable online storage level*cough*Last edited by tjb0607; 05-10-2010 at 11:13 PM.

Back on topic: Just the other day Mr. Radical invited me to play with him (not his fault at all) and my level with three more hours of work done, did not save. Thankfully i could do it again and more efficiantly this time too. Bummer, i know
