    Default Rudeness to others

Sorry to post this here now but i didn't know where else to put this. I couldn't find any threads similar to this subject even though I know there's some out there somewhere! lol

Right...im not usually someone who would complain or bring something up im not happy with as i usually ignore bad situations and get involved with good ones.

I have noticed something that has been quit upsetting and I wanted to mention it to make you all aware.(You probably are all aware)
As we all know there are some younger members on this site and some who havent got as much knowledge as some of us have.

I have seen some members getting rude comments aimed at them just because of the way they speak or the way they are.
I think this is wrong, I feel sorry for them. Yes I know some people can be annoying on purpose but there are some who don't know they are doing wrong and dont mean to be the way they are.
There's no need to moan at them or to post a sarcastic comment. Its not nice. And ive seen it a lot and it makes me feel uncomfortable because I feel the need to jump in and say "woah woah, be nice".

Why cant people just explain things in a nice manor. Doesn't hurt does it. Its better then being rude, I can see people getting annoyed or hurt on here because of it.

I don't like seeing people talk down to people that's all. And I hope the majority of you agree. Its not just the younger members, its a mixture of ages ive seen doing it.

Please be nice! This had to be said. I tend to feel sorry for people quite easily lol

And please dont get annoyed at me for speaking my mind, i dont do it often.

If i have made a mistake starting this thread, let me know.

    Thank you for reading

I'm with you to a certain extent, for example people getting their grammar and spelling corrected has never sat well with me, neither has naming and shaming. I find it quite upsetting seeing people getting singled out and discussed, no matter what they've supposedly done. I actually stopped coming here at one point, for that very reason. It was Witch Hunt Central a few months ago!

That said, I think there's such a think as being too nice. Nobody wants to read a load of false sentiment and brown nosing. It just sounds phony and to be honest makes it difficult for me to believe a single word anyone says.

Besides, some people deserve to be bought down a peg or two, it stops them running riot! I doubt they'll lose any sleep over it.

  6. Thanks!

Pro tip #1: Use smilies after sentences you write that may be misconstrued in a manner that seems sarcastic or cutting in some way.

Tone is by far the most difficult thing to discern for a bunch of strangers who chat about random topics on the interwebs.

Pro tip #2: Has someone written a post quoting you and then proceeded to disagree with everything you wrote? Does it make you really, really angry? Well, kill them with kindness! Use the "thanks" button on their reply. You'll let them know you appreciate their response. Then, funnel your frustration into a positive, well-thought rebuttal.

Well, as I quite agree with your post one could not stop human nature to try and prevent others to try and make themselves appear better or superior. This is mostly down to the fact that they are partly anonymous and no one may not know them so they might believe that they can act what ever behavior they please.

But yes, if you're not going to acknowledge the fact there are people on this forum that do not wish to view offensive posts maybe you should re-think your attitude.

Yeah, I agree with FlameAtNight.. human nature is a tricky beast to tame and anonymity allows people a certain freedom of speech that they may not apply (enjoy?) in their everyday lives. However, just keep being the change, Tia, and don't be afraid to kindly (and maybe privately where possible) point out to those you see mistreating others that it makes you sad and uncomfortable, and it really isn't necessary.

There have been threads like this before, and there will again, but thanks for the reminder We all have to just keep trying. I like to think there are more of us who try to do the right thing than those who sew discord.

Sometimes, I do feel like acting like that to some people... being mean to them I mean... usually I just, well, ignore them D: And thus not insult them :/

Although I do agree about the concept of being "too nice"... I unno, it just seems sometimes we just are TOO nice to people, even after they do stuff, I unno.

I guess the best bet would be to use the report post button in the bottom left of posts (does seem too small and hidden... maybe make it bigger and more obvious?) for any post that appears to be insulting to other people, then the mods will take care of it. Might take a while since there are only three of them... think they ever get overworked? D:

Anyway, yep, I guess just report posts you feel are insulting. As for getting people to not insult people... welll, I unno.

    This statement is true.

  14. Thanks!

"Too nice" is something i see very often around. (No offence to the nice people )

The problem is that sometimes its difficult to know who are the non-intentionally "bad"(per say) and who are the idiots going around trolling.

Yes i admit i may go over the line once in a while myself, but its just i see soo much people like that around pretty much any forum i go, some seem to think its right or funny to be that way...
And in my eyes i don't see it asd "Oh he's saying something wrong/baad, oh but he doesn't know it so its ok " i see it rather like "Oh he's doing something wrong, better make sure he knows that's wrong/bad so he doesn't keep doing it"
    You get what i mean?

I think the way people react to a dark attitude in others is very telling, and am allways impressed when I see someone able to gracefully defuse an aggressive poster. I'm also Impressed when I see someone clearly angry, but willing to be defused.
I wish I had those qualities, So I'm really glad to have threads like this around to remind me to check my 'tude once in a while.

One of the coolest things about this community is that most of the members seem to strive to get along. On alot of forums it seems like the members search the posts looking for somthing to get miffed about.

Maybe I'm one of those people that always sounds rude.
I've got the bad habit of being honest even here on the internet and to say what I think, even if not being of English language often leads me to "word myself" badly.
And I've been even called troll sometimes, but I'm so stubborn and so woodheaded that I can't really get the habit of keeping quiet about some stuff, or avoid to say something that is fine in my Country and not in yours...
So, in a way or another, Fender think that sometimes differences of languages and habits may cause some ripples in an international community.

In another forum once I referred to Japanese as "Japs", since it's similar to the word "Giappi", that in Italy we use with a sense of love towards Japanese people.
Well, a Japanese guy told me that "Japs" is really bad towards them in English, so foreign people may not know that a word has a different approach in vocabulary and real life.

I think LBPC is one the nicest and safest websites out there. But like in any growing community, bad seeds start to grow however good the whole community started as.

Wow, how did I not see this before?

Personally I think LBPC is a really friendly site, though i've never been to any other forums so I can't compare. But yes, I too have seen this sort of behaviour. Hell I've behaved this way myself before, posting a really sarcastic comment, luckily my conscience got the better of me and I had to go edit my post. I still feel bad about though, especially as it was towards a relatively new member.

Unforunately it's just the nature of the internet that allows us to say whatever we darn well feel like towards others without any serious consequences and without having to care two hoots. We all just need to remember that everyone's a real person with real feelings. I guess all I'm tying to say really is to just think before you post, words can hurt.

Like I said before LBPC seems pretty darn good to me. Most people are friendly most of the time but that's no excuse not to improve now is it

Considering it's size and especially the fact that it serves such an enormous age gap, I totally agree with this, although that's partly due to the subject matter. Arty-Fartys have always been a sensitive emotional bunch!

Don't talk to me about the drama though!

I forgot to add that if you do ever find yourself acting like this there's nothing stopping you from clicking the wonderful 'EDIT' button. If someone can realise there's mistakes and learn from them i'll always forget about whatever it was that they did and reapect them for making the right decision. On the other hand if someone refuses to learn from their mistakes and continues in their ways, well I pretty much lose all respect for them.

    Just my view

    Are you kidding swan?
I'm collecting an insane amount of deleted posts lately
That's the reason why you can't see my unkindness.

I really think that behind a lot of rudeness there's only misundertatement, no one with a brain switches his PC on just to badmouth someone.
One problem is that in a speech between friends, a word that sounds bad vanishes into the air, while on a forum you read and read and read it again and again and you notice it.

Anyway, I have actually now decided to hijack the thread and play the troll, before it gets all warm and fuzzy.

  32. Thanks!
