Default LBP Game Changers - Rank 3 - River Rush! *SPOTLIGHT NOD!!*

LBP Game Changers - Rank 3 - River Rush! by Richasackboy
Dive into a land of adventure (or rather spawn) from the comfort and safety of your own living room sofa (or bed, or couch... or whatever)! Tricky obstacles, n-e-e-eat sc-e-e-enery and fiendish secrets await you, young adventuring... plumber??

    Hello again!
Name's Richasackboy - here to talk about this new level o' mine.
Been sitting on my moon, festering, molding, and gathering dust for about 2 months. Decided to make a mad dash to finish it properly when I heard about the kids game changers competition. Well, it's finished. Hole proof (I think?) with a lot of holes (scenery wise I mean). Get enlisted by a very selfish and holier-than-thou suburban troglodyte of the savannahs to plumb the clogged up river; exciting, no?
    Anyway, here are some piccies!

    PICTURES:

The start of the wee level, ye kin'.

    The Plumber-Sage has... blue hair??

Look at the view dear! Quick, take a photo!

I know what you're thinking, and no, you can't do a super jump and escape through the canopy.

The style of the level has changed - it looks a lot worse here, right?
    ... I kid, I kid.

That sponge looks like... cakey sponge... mmmm...

Oh no! A generic spongey magnetic key circle thingey that weighs a lot!

Well, that's it for the pictures, cuz I won't spoil the ending.

    EDIT: VIDEO:

Hey! I made a trailer! But not a level playthrough. That would just take away all the fun of playing the level! Now go out there and play it! Or else... something... maybe not. Okay whatever, but you get my drift. Right?
    ...Right? D:

    You seem to have read this far through this thread (or have just said, "lol, tl;dr roflmao" and skipped to this bit);
What are you waiting for? Get off of that big loungey chair of yours and escape to the PS3! And the living room, and the TV, etc.

Thanks for listening, and I hope you enjoy the level!
By the way, I'm 12 - going on 13 in a few day (well a week or two), so I believe I'm eligible! =D

Ugh. I just wrote a big long post about this level, and then it didn't work for some reason. I hope I can remember everything

    Pros
-Great usage of all three layers and a couple extra
-The level had an all around good style to it, if you know what I mean
    -Fun, bouncy gameplay
    -River section looked really good

    Cons
-The characters felt a little lifeless, I always like characters more when they move around, even if it's just bobbing their head
-The story was kind of strange, I guess? You get sent to to get plumbing tools, but never get them, and then just clear the river without them. It was kind of funny though, and it did wrap up nicely.
-I thought it was too dark at the section with the swingy gas things, the dark wood doesn't really stand out at all so it wasn't clear where to go. Even some bubbles to show where to go would help.

I really enjoyed the level, it was cute and fun. I gave five stars, but can't remember what I tagged. Nice work.

Hi there Richasackboy, nice to see all the effort you went through to make the trailer

Ok, so.....it was a real nice little platformer! Nice and long, lots of puzzles and platforming. NO bugs, no issues of not knowing what to do/where to go, worked well and was fun to play. Nice use of logic at the end to show the secrets found, plain and simple, it is very much like one of the MM story based levels, which I know was your intention, and a great job you did in recreating one, well done!! I really have nothing more to add other than for your age it was pretty impressive!

If you could F4F my level 'Spider mech tank walker 2' that would be great, many thanks.

I won't be on my PS3 until monday - late on monday, so can someone tell me how many plays the level has right now?

Other than that, feedback is dearly appreciated ladies and gents, and as I always say, I can do any number of F4Fs.

This level was pretty cool it has awesome visuals , also i liked the game-play but i found it a bit repetitive and unoriginal, despite this it was very fun to play and if it was on cool level page i'm sure it was the best. Overall i rated and i tagged fun and i didn't hearted it Keep up!

The level has a really nice design and fun to play.

    Ups:

-The way you used the sponge material it really fitted in nicely
-The underwater section had a nice design but was pretty simple
-I liked the humor you put into the level it live'nd it up a little
    -Simple, easy gamplay

    Downs:

-There was really nothing bad about the level (Except I got lost a few times, but that just because im dumb)

    Overall:

-A good level with some nice gameplay elements. I gave it and good luck on your next level.

And could you please give me feedback on my level-Technicity
Just search for it to find it.

I liked it up until I got stuck. Now maybe I'm just thick and couldn't figure it out, but when the water came up I was to the left of the trees (messing around with the spinning orange-n-yellow circle thingy). Once I was in the water I couldn't get past the trees on the right because one is in the front plane and there was nothing to grab onto to send me into the back planes (again - unless I just missed it). I tried for some time to figure out what I might be missing, then quit.

Up until that point, I thought it had a slick, polished look to it (I loved the slow pan up the trees - nice trees BTW - but perhaps speed it up just a bit... I got the same advice on a similar slow pan up the waterfall in my 00Sack-Revenge II level). Lots of real nice, varied platforming with some good back tracking. The characters were a bit flat to me, but not bad.

So - as I said... if I was just being thick-headed where I got stuck, then disregard this... but if not, I'd say you have a pretty major hole there.

All in all though, not a bad effort.

I'll have to add a grabby thingy swingy thingy in there somewhere - I had no idea that my scenic water could have such a deadly effect! D:
Thanks for the feedback though! Anyone want feedback for feedback on their level?

    Nice work.
I firstly have to say nice work on making a smooth level, I didn't get stuck once

I liked the subtle use of the 3D layer glitch, it's added a nice touch to the level. I also have to say that your music choice throughout was spot on, they all suited their respected areas to a tee.

Thw visuals were simple a neat, nothing too fancy or over powering instead nicely done. In saying that though I think the start could have used a few more decorations, it was just a little too simple for my liking.

I found the speech bubbles a little clumcy as such. Namely when the character at the start reminds you that you're playing a level. It just seemed to take me out of the game. Also I think the "Taaaap-Graaab!" speech bubble could be replaced with a simple R1 sticker, I saw you used it elsewhere so it should be a quick fix.

The level shaking was a nice touch also. I still think it can be improved though. It would be nice if the camera was a little more violent in it's movements, some more sounds would also be nice instead of the single big crack and I think if some little pieces of wood fell down in a few places it would really add to the experience of the earthquake.

Now one thing that bugs me in levels is when I see a piece of round sponge hanging over some fire attached by a piece of string. Luckily I was pleasently surprised when I leaped onto the second piece and saw that it lifted up. To me it was a pleasent twist on a commonly used element.

I thought the spooky section was really well done, the atmosphere was great. I actually got a little spooked when the flying ghost thing killed me but it serves me right for running straight in there

Lastly I love it when someone has a sense of homour and can poke fun at themselves

    Great work,
I gave it 's not quite up to a 5 standard for me but it was still great

Many thanks to TheZimInvader for the great sackboy

You've got some real moments of genius in this one visually and game play wise. The criss cross section with the falling stairs was really well set up and I love the visuals of the trees in the canopy pic up there. The scale in these two areas was really nice too. The water part was set up nicely and I liked how you staggered out the bubbles. Game play is pretty cool too. Nothing broke or felt sloppy to me so that's a real plus. The dialogue was a little forced at the beginning but the last part was really funny. LIked that part a lot. Characters are interesting. I like the sticker work but they do feel a little less thought out as some of the sections of your level. Probably the weakest part of your design.

Overall I really liked it. Gave it 5 stars and hearted it.

    Otay me will play soon.

Edit: I played it, now here you go!

    Pros:
*I love how you can accually use sponge!
    *The gameplay was very fun
*Good use of the water tool, timed well in the level.
    *Nice looking level

    Cons:
*Your stickering on that gopher guy was okay but, you did not cut him out.
*It was very diffucult when the lights turned off and i could not find what to do.
*Some of the platforms were poorly done.
*The storyline made no sense and was too spaced out.

    I gave it but no
