Ok, I need to start this off with a question: Is this really your first level ever on LBP, or is it just your first PSP level? If this is your first ever LBP level then you sure have a good grasp on what makes a good level even though you have never made one.
You have a lot of key things in this level that I don't expect to see in an authors first level. First and foremost, you do some awesome things with plane-switching. Usually newer authors don't force the player to weave in front and behind planes. One of the things that makes an experienced authors levels shine is this plane switching, and it REALLY adds to the gameplay. You have implemented this into your level, and it really makes it shine.
The level plays fantastic. For me, it felt a lot like a Spark151 level, but that is a very good thing. It had the fun of using switches to unlock new areas, fun and unique platforming, and the level looked great.
The raising and lowering water helped the level to stand out from the rest, and I think that it was a very good thing to have.
You even managed to implement some awesome sound effects that I was surprised to see!
The only issue with the whole level that I noticed was a visible sound effect speaker, but that is by no means a big deal. I just figured that I would point it out since the level is really new, and it has a 3 star rating now so this would be the best time to republish.
Speaking of it having a 3 star rating... WHAT THE HECK?!?!? This level is excellent. It should be getting 4 and 5 star ratings, so why in the world are people rating it anything lower than a 4 star rating? Grr... I just don't understand why people can't appreciate a new author! Anyway, I'm sure it will be up to 4 stars in no time even if you don't republish since it is an excellent level. BTW, just in case you didn't know, if you republish, you will lose all of your plays and hearts, so make sure to consider that when you do so.
Awesome work on a first level SketchNZ! I am thoroughly impressed!!!

[Sacky World Cup]
Bob "...and New Zealand is catching up fast to the other creators..."
Phil "With few NZ creators, they sure are doing great!"
Bob "Who knows Phil, maybe they could pull off the title of the world champion creators!"
Phil "We'll just have to wait and see"
This level is great! And its not actually too short at all. It had a vj feel to it with a bit of spark added in for good measure. Corner editing was great, and the water thing was brilliant!!
5 stars and heart!

Oooh! A new creator! Time to take a break from Chomp To It and check out another level!
Okay, here's your feedback! I loved this level, first off.
-Pros-
When I got into the level, I was amazed by the visuals. I can tell that a lot of time went into corner editing and making everything look perfect. The play mechanics were great and flowed easily from one thing to another. I love the areas where the water keeps rising as run along, and you have to scuttle from one safe spot to another. I haven't seen this done before, and it was a lot of fun. You should know, I'm not exactly the most original creator, so don't be surprised if I "borrow" the rising water idea, though of course I'll credit you in the post. All together there's a lot of pros for this level.
-Cons-
Only one real complaint here, which is that the blank scenery of the ending was a real let-down. Try to give the ending some personality too!
All in all, five stars, a level heart, and a creator heart! A great level!Last edited by BlueBulletBill; 06-16-2010 at 02:41 PM.
Bah, I'll make a new signature when I feel like it.

I just want to say, this is my first time seeing you post a level and it was Awesome!

For the feedback, Once I downloaded this level, I also downloaded ali's new level.
I played your level first, but I forgot which level I was playing. I thought it was ali's level because it looked awesome. I got halfway through and asked myself, "What does this have to do with Invador Zim?" I then pressed start and checked "About the level" section. I then found out it had nothing to do with Invador Zim because this level was "Water Works".
That was a compliment because my mind was tricked thinking this level was by a good creator, but really, it was from you!!
Anyways, I loved the intro, it had my attention at start. I liked the rusted material and the song used. The water ascending and descending was a cool part. I tried to beat the race fast, but I failed to do so. The structure of the level was Outstanding! I'm surprised you had a 3 star rating, you do not deserve that.
Anyways, I had no problems, so I will start with the rating.
Length: 5/5 (Not long, but you mentioned you might make it longer)
Creativity: 4/5 (I liked the materials used, but it was lonesome for stickers)
Corner Editing: 5/5 (You made the terrain nice and bumpy)
Theme: 4/5 (Ideas were solid and so were mechanics, good job)
Story: N/A (Nothing built here)
Total: 18/20
Not a perfect 20, but this is the first level I've seen from you, Nice!
5 stars

and a heart
Looking forward more from you.
Until we meet again,
-SparkWithout the sun, there is no moon. Without a me, there is no you.

Hey SketchNZ!!

Sorry I am late to the party but I have had limited internet access this week and I just got a chance to play your level tonight. This level was amazing!! To me a level is either fun or it's not fun. And this level was fun. Big fun. I had a grin on my face the whole time playing this. The platforming was great and perilous
, the art direction was top notch, the bubbles were very well placed for some great combos, and that was the best use for the gas glitch I have ever seen.
I thoroughly enjoyed this.
You did a great job with this level.
Five stars and a heart and one for creator too!!

Hey Sketch!
You asked me to leave you feedback quite a while ago, so my apologies for the delay. I had hoped that creating clones of myself would have enabled me to catch up on things a little quicker, but I can't pry the darned things away from my stash of PS1 classics. Anyway.
This is a fantastic level, and your first?? Wow, good job without a doubt. I really like the color scheme and material choices you made - it's very straightforward but everything goes together nicely. The rusty, jagged metal contrasts well against the clean, squared off sections and adds a lot of subtle depth to the visuals... but enough with the esoterics. The platforming and layer changing are both very good, and the straightforward switch-opens-the door mechanic is well implemented. My favorite part by far however are your "water" based puzzles. The rising and lowering water levels are straight out of the PS3 Pirates of the Caribbean pack - awesome! They're a bit tricky but still very, very fun.
I don't have lots to complain about. I suppose I could pick on you for your visible dissolve material throughout the level, but that's not especially easy to get rid of on the PSP. One thing you can do is to create your doors out of the same rusty metal as everything else, and then place a creature brain on it to dissolve it. Don't like the visible creature brain? Make a small block of material off screen, attach a brain to that, and connect it to your wall with an invisible string. When you trigger the brain everything connected to it will dissolve as well. And there's your tip of the day!
Overall fantastic level - 5 stars and a heart easily. Thanks for a very fun experience!
