I read some stuff about PETA around, and well, it's like every organization.
There's a right principle as a key foundation, but it's always made up of people, and between them there's an high amount that do sick stuff or cares only for their own business.
Anyway, following an association, a politic party, whatever in a blind zombie-like way is stupid.
Just listen to what they say and if they're right support, otherwise leave them alone.
Vegetarianism/veganism is a choice that I respect, but I don't share since I stil find a bit hipocrite to believe that you don't kill plants when you eat a salad.
And still, there's a lot of vegetables that is treated with chimic stuff and that is genetically modified.Last edited by OmegaSlayer; 06-26-2010 at 05:38 AM.

And I got a warningYes, everyone going vegetarian solves all the issues involving animals, except what happens to all the livestock animals that no-one can afford to keep because no one is buying them. They get culled. Nice. On the plus side, the fascist vegetarians get top marks for both good intentions and short-sightedness

lol jk.
But, why don't we just not force-breed more animals. it makes sense, and it's far less cruel. Also, you think were bad, try you meat-eaters making pigs so fat that they can't walk and die from heart attacks.
:makes mental note not to check this thread anymore:
LOL! I love that video.

People forget that plants are living things, too. The only difference between eating plants and eating animals is that you can't hear the plant scream when you rip it out of the ground and bite into it. :P (I am kidding, please don't kill me, I am not a vegetarian, nor can I be because I am a picky eater, but I have no problem with vegetarians, vegans, meat eaters, etc. Except people who eat cats. Now that's just sick! lol)
I'm a strong believer in animal rights and don't know much about peta, but everyone has told me that they are sorta evil. If you wish to donate to someone to help out animals, donate to your local animal shelter. Many of those animals are abused and are in need of good homes, medical care, etc. I adopted a cat almost a year ago that was taped up in a fruit box and left on the side of the road to die with his 15 brothers and sisters. I went to the shelter to get him and it was completely overcrowded. But it was a no kill shelter and they do their best to make sure those animals don't die and get a shot at life. But you can donate food and supplies to them, too, for these poor animals. Petfinder.com also has a service that you can donate to sponsor animals. So, yeah... my advice is to find a worthy cause other than peta and donate to them instead.

The only peta I support is People Eating Tasty Animals.
I do agree with animal rights, but not peta.

As a non-US guy, I read some Italian press about PETA.
Companies that have been targeted by PETA have backfired to discredit PETA, and some people of PETA didn't behave well
From my point of view, PETA is too extremist, but they sure have led some battles that have brought good results, like the one against McDonald's.
Today everyone shouldn't trust even their panties, but reading stuff from respectable sources and making our own minds is the best thing.
I always say that there are 3 versions of a fact: mine, yours and what really happened.
So avoiding to hide the head under the sand is the better thing to do, even because if you hide your head, your back remains in good sight, if you understand what I mean...Last edited by OmegaSlayer; 06-26-2010 at 06:29 PM.

Of course no one here hates you. But I think this does go to show you that researching various sources before buying into one groups claims is important. Every group has an agenda, from the far left to the far right. I'd always be a little suspect of the extreme claims of any group. Also, I don't really think they are evil, per se, just misguided. They operate under the notion that the ends justify the means, which leads them into conflict with others. I agree with kappa, support your local shelter if you love animals, even consider adopting a pet if you can.
