    Default Ruins and Riches *Spotlighted*

    Ruins and Riches by Glass_of_Win
Go on a quick bubble hunt in the swamp.

Ok, so after my first level, I started on another one, and that got corrupted about 3/4 of the way through. So, I began working on yet another level. The level is set in a swamp with some ancient ruins of some sort. My main goals were for it to be fun to play and have good visuals, and i think I achieved both. You can get some amazing bubble combos going in this level. It isn't very long at all, but hopefully that will increase replay value and since it is mainly a bubble chaining challenge, it is actually better for it to be short, in my opinion.

Ok, now I'm just giving myself feedback...
    That's everyone else's job...

Hope you guys like it as much as my first one!

I'll be back with some feedback. Does that count as a rhyme, if it uses "back" in two different words?

That was another really good level - you're quite the creator! Hard to believe you could pound out levels that fast. Great work, 5/5!

    Thanks for the feedback guys.
The Nerd- No, that doesn't count as a rhyme, sorry.
Ferrch- I was originally planning for this level to be a lot less simple, but it ended up that I just didn't feel like it.
Valmassoi- I've already given you feedback on The Malbora's Windmill but I'll give you feedback on The volcano one instead.

    Hi Nuffles,

I love treasure hunter type themes. You did a good job of creating a captivating environment. It also seems like you put a lot of effort into you corner editing and overall design. Having a frog guide was a nice touch.

The play is combo-rific! You build a very intricate paths for players to work on some pretty crazy number of combos. I like the fact that you have to work to get them. There were a tough spots but I like that. Its a fun level with a lot of replay value.

My suggestion would be to break up the combos a bit. It would give the player time to enjoy the visuals. Its hard to take everything in when your looking ahead to map out the most rewarding path. That helps to make the ones you do have seem more special. Also, its a little jarring to be in the middle of one and have the dialog stop you. That would be a good point for a break.

I really enjoyed this and plan to look up your other levels

    Hey Nuffles,

You made another awesome platformer! I had a blast playing through it, like I always do with great platformers. Visuals were excellent, not much craggy corners, and that's a good thing, well for me that is. I have to agree with Xenon, you should spread some of the bubble combos a bit. It takes you're mind of the way from the visuals. Other than that everything worked great, looked great, and felt great. and a heart.

  21. Thanks!

I realized the dialogue kind of cut the combos off, but I didn't think it was too much of a problem. In my next level I will make sure to spread out the combos a lot more, thanks for pointing that out guys.

Hopefully I can make my next level a little more complex and longer. My question is, how long do you prefer a level to be? More like my first level, or more like this one?

    Another awesome level Nuffles!!

Your bubble chains have become some of my favorite in lbp. The layout was tight and fluid, and I had no troubles at all, as the mechanics worked great.

I liked the little story you included this time, and the frog looked cool.

I thought your choice of music was perfect BTW.

    Another heart and five stars!

Awesome level Nuffles! It was easy in gameplay, yet entertaining and nothing looked out of place. I loved the frog, it was really cute, and I agree with Velcro that the musing was fitting. Not bothering, but comfortable.
I have one flaw you can fix up: Before you enter the ruin maze, there is a little space between the frog and the rock, in the front layer. If you get into this, you are stuck and have to pop yourself. I had to, I could not get out. And continue the bubble chain down to the checkpoint again (before the ruins) I was stopped by the frog's leg and a rock but in the middle thin layer. Maybe edit that rock a little?
Plus, the rope thing was a little messy, but I managed it fine!

So... 5 A for the level and a for you as well!

    EDIT:
F4F: Shades (somewhere on the level showcase 1st page I guess)...

    Hey Nuffles,

Congratulations for making it to the Community Spotlight! I loved the character and level design, and bubble hunting was really fun! My favorite part was swinging back and forth between the two vines. Genius! Great job, and I hope you make more levels soon!

Here's a video of your level:
