I think not having access to guns, i.e. no gun in your home, would be a lot more effective.

On topic: Meh. Maybe they scrapped the gun because it looked ridiculous when he was holding a paininator.

Media Molecule are (or were) a British company... we do not have the same gun control issues as Gun Crazy America.

And how many children were killed last year by Toy guns?

    Precicely Zero.

Now look at the games market and tally up the amount of shooters released - or games that contain an element of shooting - why is it so taboo for MM to join in (the most crowded gaming genre)?

An easy way they could get around it - call it a water gun... problem solved.
It's the same trick they used with the Paintenator (and don't try and tell me *that* hasn't been used as a gun by the LBP community)

The difference between an average shooter and LBP is that LBP is a game for 7+ people, where Im pretty sure most shooters are 18+ or atleast Teen rated.

I personally wouldnt want 7 year old children learning that guns and fun.

And I cant possibly imagine why people who are old enough to use guns would want a toy gun for LBP anyways. <,<....

P.S. Im pretty sure someone died last year from a toy gun. Some kid could easily swallow and choke on any kind of toy.

    The standard fair military shooter - sure that's 18+ ;
But an alien invasion game - doesn't Toy Stoy 3 even have laser guns from Buzz LightYear? so no, not all games that contain shooting elements are over 18 - alot are U rated.

And if you "cant possibly imagine why people who are old enough to use guns would want a toy gun for LBP anyways" then all I would say is - Imagine harder.
I can think of SO many costumes that would benefit from having a cool looking AK or Assualt Rifle or Pistol.
Now because it's LBP - they wouldn't be 'usable guns' (we'll let the community make their own - which they do in their 1000's) - they'd be cardboard cut-out guns... just like a child who uses a twig and pretends it's a gun.

We already pretend that the paintenator's a real gun - so I don't see the conflict with releasing a fake costume gun.

Edit: There is NO choking hazard from a 'virtual' toy gun --- loosen up

Though a gun is more dangerous, a weapon is a weapon. We already have hazards where sackboy can get burned, electrocuted, disintegrated in gas, or vaporized in plasma. There are lethal knives, buzzsaws, and shuriken. Media Molecule has already put out references like the night club in that one meerkat story level. Numerous story characters are half-naked. The recurring pattern of violence and weapons in story mode include the moon ray gun in the Marvel levels.

Is this ok for an E-rated game? I personally think so, but that's another topic. I just think a plastic-looking gun costume part shouldn't be that much of a concern considering all the other things in LBP that ESRB watches out for. It even has the orange tip like a BB-gun has.

Id be more okey with a gun that kills you than a gun that is harmless.

There's a difference between something that looks like a gun and something that looks like a Tube of Toothpaste shooting paint, If you get my drift.

The problem is that it looks like a gun and is harmless, because it teaches you that a gun is harmless, which is not the case. :o

It would be cool to have it in a game, but I can see the logic in why its not ^^

Well, in everyone's defence, Kids do know what guns a for. Are you telling me that you never had a plastic gun as a toy, even when you were very little?

Why is this even a problem?
sure it be fun to have it but is it really needed?
you could... i don't know... just make a gun out
of decorations etc like a lot do :o *mew

don't know about you but some of the user hand made guns
are really awesome, a DLC is not much needed,
we'll live without it im sure.*mew

You can make anything with LBP tools genereally, but having it as actual DLC is always 100x better

True , but also true is user made costumes can be
    more cute sometimes,
like I really love the patch work doll look
and the idea that are sack people go around
and pick things up and put stuff on them selfs
for costumes, but however some stuff just looks
    better professional, AKA Sonic costumes...
it all depends on the skills of the person
like sure i never used stuff like the horrible lion wig
for sonic but everyone else did, though i did have to put
up with white quills :/ but yeah sometimes the home
made look is better, other times its not, *mew

i my self would not mind a gun DLC, but its not going to
happen so no point getting upset about it
also i like the patch work doll made looking guns. *mew
