Explosive Adventures - A Bomb Based Platformer by kirbyman62
Explosions and booms await in this Canyons-set platformer, themed around the little wonders that are bombs. They've been recieving a lot of negative reputation lately, so I thought I'd make a level that focouses on their positive points.
Ok, now my little description is over, here are some screenshots for my newest creation:
There's also a video, courtosy of AssassinatorRFC! Thanks!
Spoiler - Video
There are also four secrets scattered around the level. Find them all and you can go into the cage at the end, which leads to a secret race! Good Luck!
A very big thank you to nagrom_17 as well, as he tested this very well and hopefully ironed out any problems.
Also, to finish, a quick notice about F4F:

Thanks for taking a look, and any comments are appreciated

Hehe...... I have time limits as well........ I get about 3 hours if I do all my homework before hand
Anyways, I'll check out your level as soon as I can get on my PS3........ which may be a while!
The screenshots are good, I think that they give a good inside as to what the level features

Also, updated the main page with talk of the secrets. Would people like me to add a guide on how to find them in a spoiler, or just leave it and let people find it for themselves?

Uh, now you mention it, could you check out my LBPC Roast?
PSN: Aquila_Shock-99
There's a thread for it, I think I put a link for it in my sig........ Dunno
I think you should leave the secrets hidden, it gives it a more proffessional quality lke the legend DrunkenFist_Lee does, and comph does it alot in Aperture Science/Labs.
Or atleast wait until people decide they really want to find the secrets, then you could put a few weak visual clues in the level. I wouldn't properly reveal their locations.
Hope this helps!

Original obstacles, I like it! I haven't seen a combination of underwater plus bombs either. The NPC is charming and the explanations are clear.
I had a bit of trouble at the invisible wall, though. Something blocked me there and it wasn't clear to me that I needed to jump into the pipe to fall underground. Also, the big sponge that you need to blow up with timed explosives.. it took me a lot of bombs. Perhaps a few too many. I felt the number could be cut by one third to feel right.
But overall, had a blast!

Thanks. The point with that was that you could walk over it after a while, but prehaps it does need tweaking.Original obstacles, I like it! I haven't seen a combination of underwater plus bombs either. The NPC is charming and the explanations are clear.

Could you explain the first bit a bit more? I can't really gety where you mean.
Also, I'll play your level and mutant_red_peas, so expect something on them soon
Also, there is a visula guide to the secrets

Feedbakz!!11!!shift!!
I enjoyed the level, but I felt there were a couple points that could be improved. The underwater section felt very out of place, and the level was a bit bland in some areas. I had the same problem as Antikris, the invisible walls were a bit confusing, I'd recommend putting and actual wall. There were some positives though, some of the gameplay was fun, I liked how you used explosives as a a subsitute for dissolve in some cases. Overall,

, I just felt there were some areas that needed tweaking.
Would you midn doing the level in my sig for F4F? Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback on my level! Greatly appreciated
It'll be a few more days before I go on my PS3 again...
Bit of a shame 'cos I need to finish my roast so that'll be me making levels till like, 14th of December, then another project until 24th December, then Christmas!
Then more of my own projects on LBP1 till LBP2

OK then, thanks for that. I'll work on the walls and play your level tonight. The thing with the graphics is that I didn't want them to look overdone, but I imagine some areas are bland, so I'll freshen them up a bit.Feedbakz!!11!!shift!!

Played it finally

I just want to make 1 point very clear:
I don't think you made best use of all 3 layers.
Now that's just my opinion but that's the whole point in a feedback.
So, find something to put into the layers. Could be gaps in wood with 3 point bubbles in, who knows. But just make use of them. it's what separates the decent levels from the potential spotlights. Well it's not, but you get the point
Dismissed
Joke
I think you've cornered more undiscovered uses for useless bombs (how much we hate them and their survivals...) and squeezed them into 1 big chunk. That's a good thing BTW
But that chunk doesn't make use of all 3 layers! (no matter how awesome it is)

Thanks!

Ah a level containing bombs and explosives, without being killed by them in a survival way.
This level's going on my list to try out, for sure. I love the explosive levels!

Thanks guys. I'll take that into account. Thinking about it, a lot of the good levels have this, don't they? I'll add this for sure.Played it finally

I really shouldn't have published it now, because it's really awkward timing, but I have to say this:
I will have no PS3 access until at least Thursday, so no edits or F4Fs can be done until then. Feel free to leave feedback still, but I won't play yours until Thursday. Sorry.Last edited by kirbyman62; 12-03-2010 at 03:41 PM.

Found something bad.
I got to the lift, go up, go to the bomb bridge, but I fall between two bombs, so I get killed. Then I respawn at the checkpoint before the elevator, but there is no way to get up.

Hm? I swear there was a checkpoint before the bridge, but I'll make it easier to activate.
EDIT: After playing it at my friends house, the same thing happened to me. There definatly was a checkpoint, where has it gone?
EDIT EDIT: Fixed it, and did some stuff with the layers. Nothing too amazing, but the level does look nicer now. Everything's back to normal with the F4Fs (though what's in the first post still applies).Last edited by kirbyman62; 12-03-2010 at 03:42 PM.
