    Default The Kookey Canyon *!!Spotlighted!!*

    The Kookey Canyon by The-Questor
    Journey up and through this crazy canyon with a little sack-tastic platforming!

    I'm not good with describing my level.

    There was a lot of logic used to apply that canyon feeling.
    It was kind of hard to maintain the canyon feeling (because I only used 2 main materials, and 2 less used) so I hope it's still there.
    Also, a LOT of earthquake effects!

    My first Spotlit level!!!
    Want an EPIC, Spotlighted level, click here.

    No more Lag!!
    I fixed it!
    I'll make a thread on it...
    Happy playing!

    Ok,I know what you're thinking.

    Just to let you know,I'm downloading it right now and I'll give you feedback when I finish watching Shutter Island.
    This time...it's personal.

    I'll play it and let you know where I think the lag is coming from. Most times lag is caused by using a ton of just one object. Like in FULLGORR's Euphoric Physics he used tons, and tons of stickers. Causing lots of lag.

    PS3 Levels:
    Wooden Chaos
    PSP Levels:
    The Color of Music *Spotlight*
    Coffee Cake *Spotlight*

    Is it logic lag or the actual level lagging? Like eager said, maybe it's because of using too much of just 2 materials. I'm using an earthquake effect in the logic pack psp and it could work better, maybe I could get some ideas from this level.
    My PSP broke, so I'm leaving the PSP side. See ya guys. My levels however will still be up.

    Feedback!

    Music/Sound Effects: The music was perfect for the theme, and I noticed several rumbling sound effects. They added to the atmosphere nicely and made it a little more realistic.

    Visuals: Not two materials that I would of thought of first when create a canyon theme, however they seemed to work really well! The natural shapes and jagged rocks were done nicely, I really liked the effects you used for explosions and rockfalls. The house looked good, the lack of detail actually didn't deteriorate the quality. The only thing missing was stickers, I didn't see many at all in the cave areas. Although the ones you used looked great, a few more decorations might help if you can spare the thermo. But what you use depends on the tone of the level you need and if you want to focus on the gameplay.

    Gameplay: This is what you did best in the level, the platforming was paced nicely, but still gave a feeling that you were exploring the canyon. All the obstacles were fun to play, interspersed with some puzzles. I liked the parts done riding a cart, which gave a break from normal platforming. The lag, although a bit annoying, didn't give me any difficulties completing the obstacles, nor seemed to detract much from the overall fun of the level. I shouldn't worry about it, and just use a wider variety of materials next time. The level was a good length too, and not too hard or easy.

    Story:N/A

    Summery: This is a really good level Questor, don't put yourself down so easily. The visuals were done very well, but could of used a few more stickers. The gameplay was awesome, nice platforming and puzzles. The lag is of course laaaaaggg, but doesn't seem to effect the level much at all. I'm looking forward to more creations from you.

    Awesome sig illustration by Darkie.
    HNNNNNNNNG. Creating on hold, I am drawing mostly now. I hope you don't mind.

    Pretty much nailed it dizzy

    anyway I know the cause of the lag!
    *waits for applause*
    I bet your all applauding, where was I? oh yes the cause of the lag is the spinning wheels.
    if you notice in Sprocket town by Salieri he put sensor switches that connected to the gears to prevent lag. also a big amount of gas can cause lag as well, salieri had that problem in sprocket town as well, put together little objects of gas and hey-presto!
    strewth! if you do that it should cut down the lag to at least about 50% of the original lag.
    play AceCreators: performance tutorial, that should help

    anyway gave it 5 stars and a heart, I could see you followed advice from your quest to lcpc by having no plain bits. :P

    lastly as dizzy said, I'm looking forward to what you create next.

    ~~~ oh and for repayment for all I typed tell me what dlc you got for the mine icon, I like that sticker/icon!~~~
    I have to say, I didn't exactly know what to expect going into this, and I was very impressed!
    I guess I'll divide my review into sections this time so it doesn't get all confusing and whatnot.
    Sound Effects: You did quite a nice job with the sound effects. Gave your level what you were going for, the Canyon theme eh? Well Sir, you accomplished that easily! I must say, you chose a great piece of music to go along with this level also. I think you maybe could have put in a little bit more sound effects, but everything was great overall as far as sound goes.
    Visuals: I do believe that my favorite part of the level was the visuals! I was thoroughly impressed with the way you utilized all your layers and made the level look so good with it! I saw that you used gas to make it look like there was water streaming down through walls and that there were puddles on the ground. Now that, may have been what caused the lag that you were talking about. Using too much gas can cause lots of lag as we learned when Saleiri talked about creating Sprocket Town. Anyway, I was very impressed with the visuals, and that may be one of your strongest points in creating!
    Gameplay: You did an outstanding job with the gameplay! You had a way of merging the gameplay in with the scenery that it made it great fun to play! I enjoyed the parts where you had kind of...alter the environment? To keep on moving. An overall great job, and the lag didn't affect it for me.
    So, it was a very nice level overall. You may have had some lag, but for some people like me, it really doesn't make a difference. Hope you keep making great levels and practicing your creations skills!
    Five Stars and a Heart.
