Ever since we got wind that Battlefield 3 wouldn’t be released on Steam, we’ve heard multiple rumours that folks were working behind the scenes to make it happen. This is another of those rumours, backed with a smidgeon of evidence.
The first piece of evidence is this competition, found on the Sapphire Select Club website. One of the prizes in this competition is “[o]ne (1) PC Game code for Battlefield 3, redeemable for the game on Steam”.

Now this could simply be a mistake on the part of those running the competition. In fact, Sapphire are probably so used to writing competition Ts and Cs that reference Steam codes that they just assumed it would be the same with this comp.

But there’s also this. One user found that the PBSetup.exe file, which is used to install Punk Buster for Battlefield Installs, has been updated with the following install files…

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 3\
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\battlefield 3\
    C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\battlefield 3\
    C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 3\

Despite this accumulating evidence, it could be difficult since Battlefield 3 is built into the Origin and Battlelog system — but ultimately the audience available on Steam is just too overwhelmingly large to ignore. We believe it’ll only be a matter of time before we see Battlefield 3 on Steam.

Thank God I didn't get the PC version on Origin. Looks like playing BF3 on Steam is becoming a high possibility!

I doubt they'd just ditch their battlelog mechanic even if it goes on steam, so I can see the only thing steam changes is that you bought it off it, instead of origin.

    Also, my dreams have been turned into an amazing little short movie;

If it comes on Steam and allows for updating through Steam, even though it will still use Battlelog, I will buy it again (if I can't transfer the code over) because I can actually download things off Steam...

Turns out that port forwarding my router to my ps3 completely effed up the connection, the lag was unreal. Reverted it back and it's not perfect but better than the laggy mess it was with the port forwarding.

Really? I didn't notice a change at all. The ports are right, the servers must have just been laggier when you were playing. I'm curious to know when/what map/region you were playing on.

So yea... I just got called a hacker... Because of this game...

Shan-1985 accuses me of being able to stay out of bounds for more than 10 seconds, take uncountable amounts of bullets, and aimbotting.

I have never done any of those things. On any game.

My side of the story is this. My team was owning. We pushed them back into their spawn. I tried to talk my team into letting them out but they wouldn't listen. So I went along with it. I would run out of bounds, shoot off a rocket, and rush back into bounds. When I ran out of rockets I would have my friend/squad-mate, subsidedworm, throw me an ammo pack. I would replenish and go attack again.

I could pick them off so easily because they kept their TacLights and Lasers on. So I could easily see where they were. When he accused me of being able to take bullets, I have no clue what he's talking about. I was rarely shot. It's like they never saw me 50 feet in front of them or anything... They also wouldn't move if I got a hitmarker on them.

    Spoiler Spoiler - Shan1985 and I had a conversation! :o

So there. I was getting really annoyed by the end if you can't tell... xD

^ Not accurate time due to me using an alternate Minecraft launcher.

Can someone take a screenshot of the game stats? I'm still having trouble setting up battlelog.

Also after reading that conversation, he's porbably just a troll.

Yeah, no worries... I know you're not a bot. Or... are you?

I'm not sure if this is related, but I've been noticing more and more new people picking up the game recently, too. Looks like people were waiting to get paychecks or their parents to go to the store to pick it up. And miraculously I'm doing much better recently, sitting on the top half of the leaderboards at the end of each match and my K/D is slowly creeping back up to 1.00. I just want that and my W/L to get better.

Also, played recon quite a bit last night. Had some fun running around with pistols and trying (somewhat successfully) to cap as much as I could. Conquest is still #2 to Rush, though... for me, nothing beats the challenge of having to continuously beat back the other side on a single pair of objectives.

Had a fantastic session last night. Played RUSH for about 4 hours in the same server, played with random ppl but still managed to own, consistently ranked in the top 3 overall and was MVP twice which felt great. During my session I had two squad mates (at seperate times) who knew what they were doing and together we were able to dominate every game. Played about 12 games, won 10, ace squad about 9 times. When defending the opposition rarely got past the first point. Attacking meant me planting without delay and giving no room for them to breathe. Just goes to show that 2 ppl, even without communicating, can make a major impact if focused on the objective and playing smart. Had the best game on Seine Crossing. Defending, that armored vehicle rolls in next to A, we flank through the side tunnels, RPG surprise. Attacking, bridge checkpoint. I RPG TWO guys in the towers, one in each. A couple more come forward to attack and my AK-74U makes short work of them, love that gun!

Finished the campaign on HARD, enjoyed it. A few too many cheap deaths and overdone QTE'S but otherwise a great ride. Co-op is great fun. Finished the first two with a buddy on HARD, can't imagine doing these without communicating. Chopper mission was cake! Speaking of which, that vid is pretty epic

BF3, where teamwork and skill doesn't count for anything if you can't click right mouse at the exact right moment.

Oh, and join a friend in Battelog language is: "HERP DERP CAMPAIGN".

Ryan and I were going to a sniping spot on Operation Firestorm when we were attacked by a jeep. He was ran over but I dodged. I then dodged again and sniped the driver with a SVD I had no idea how to use. I then killed the confused gunner, picked up Ryan (who spawned on me earlier), and drove to the sniping spot in style.

I just got 7 medical ribbons in one match Most of which came from clay, who was unlucky enough to continuously die due to the fact that he would get revived right in the enemies line of sight :P
